Aww yeah, you're finally reading crime and punishment! That video, I am sure, will be huge.

I buy copies of Crime and Punishment at Library Book Sales and the like and keep them in my car. When on occasion someone mentions they haven't read it yet, I foist a copy upon them, I'm the worst, I know.

@@Noms_Chompsky Why is the book important to you?
      Long description more than welcome.

@@robinbergfeld5140 I'm not too big on the come to Jesus ending of Crime and Punishment; but it is just so well written that I absolutely adored Dostoyevsky from then on and proceeded to read everything. It's not that unusual a turn for me though, in High School I read Hemingway's entire portfolio and spent my undergrad years trying to develop a taste for Scotch and womanizing like Papa...until I dated a rad fem who knocked all of that awfulness out of me for the good (if I was any good at misogyny I doubt my girlfriend then would have bothered rescuing me so no dark meanness really there just playing at it, but Glenmorangie is the best.) When I read and do re-read Crime and Punishment I always end up with a cold, the writing makes me feel sick and not just because of Svidrigailov who is bound to make every reader feel sick; I feel sick like Raskolnikov. Perhaps it's the writing, perhaps it's psychosomatic, perhaps my personal copy is thoroughly impregnated with cold germs; but always getting sick is most likely due to staying up half the night reading when I have work in the morning; I prefer to think it's because of the writing though. I never re-read Crime and Punishment in the Summer of course, not just because it's kinda weird considering the season it's set in but also I'm Underground Man-ing my sniffles dammit, plus how could I deny some kind and generous Razumikhin the opportunity to make me a big old pot of home made chicken noodle soup. I wish I was as good a friend to my friends as Razumikhin; that character inspires better of me. Argh, being all crit lit about it would be so much easier than why Crime and Punishment personally resonates with me, I imagine what really struck a chord on first reading was this dealio called propaganda by the deed. I was delving into a lot of Kropotkin and Proudhon at the time but before I'd read any Berkman and his regrets over assassinating that Ford Company V.P. so I suppose ultimately Crime and Punishment is so important to me is because when I first read it I was in the exact right headspace to receive it's full effect. I'm not certain how relevant my whole wall-o-text might be to why Crime and Punishment is better than food or encouraging to anyone considering to read it and this is certainly not the "you gotta read this" pitch I tend to give, but that's my subjective, introversive personal importance with Crime and Punishment. Re-reading this post checking for typos seems like I haven't really said all that much after all, so I'm shallow; if you want deep, read Crime and Punishment. Cheers!

A fine wine related book is 'Sideways' by Rex Pickett. It's also a superb movie starring Paul Giamatti and Virginia Madsen. Great book review as always. Chin-chin!

Terrific film, and if you’ve never seen the Italian road movie “Il Sorpasso” that it’s based on, it’s a masterpiece - One of my top 3 films.

Given your love for Bolaño, will you eventually be reviewing The Savage Detectives . As much as 2666 is a masterpiece , the earlier novel is a lot more fun to read.

I don’t like the taste of alcohol, so I only drink very sweet wine. As in wine that tastes more like juice than wine.
