Great tips for the garden!!! I’m going to be trying masking my plants smell this year with peppermint but now I thinking about cinnamon also. Thanks!

I haven't done the paper towel method in like forever. Might have to do that this weekend while moving. We use the Sluggo-plus on the pull bugs. It has a active ingredient that is used as a fertilizer after it breaks down.
    Thanks for sharing.

I have around 700 seedlings right now. Hopefully I didn't bite off more than I can chew.

You have a great sense of humor. Where did you go get your tomato seedings?
For my Birthday on the 20th I went to Arbor Gate in Tomball. They had several organic options, I got 5 varieties of tomatoes, and some peppers, eggplants, squash and a cantaloupe. I also tried A Plant 4 All Seasons, but they had nothing organic for my garden, and they apparently have no advance knowledge or control of what is delivered or when deliveries may be made. (I did get 2 beautiful hibiscus for my front yard there however.)
I am a horrible procrastinator. Do you think it is unwise for me to order some seeds from Baker's Creek (cucumbers cantaloupe, carrots, lettuce, and beans) this late?

I got my tomato seedlings from Lowes. Hubby was there complaining about lumber prices. 🤪 And of course I had to go check out the plants.
I don't think it's too late to order seeds. I recommend Mary's Heirloom Seeds, she's getting her orders out pretty quick. Plus until the May 9th you can use coupon code SpringHomestead21 to get 10% off any order over $15. Plus there's a giveaway as well. You can shop through my affiliate link www.marysheirloomseeds.com/?aff=43.

Hi there. I'm very familiar with that Slater problem, I had it for several years. For me DE did nothing nor did any spray I tried. Eventually I had to remove all my mulch, even the small piles that had accumulated in the corners of my raised beds. I used cut down plastic drink bottles to make slippery rings about three inches or so high around my seedlings, that worked most of the time, just have to get them off when the seedling is bigger and stronger. After my mulch removal I also set traps. and caught them by the hundred that way. These Slater's are wearing armor and have survived since pre-historic times so they are very hard to kill at the best of times. They can't however climb on slippery surfaces and can be trapped that way, as well as upturned orange skins etc work. Numbers slowly went down in my beds and they then diapered. It took a complete season before they had gone though. Very frustrating. I found the best time to test for numbers was at night with a flash light. You can then pick them up by hand if you are fast and get rid of a lot that way. That definitely has an affect on numbers also. I think they get bored with eating the mulch and just have a liking for the fresh salad you are feeding them. I shall follow your progress with great interest. I wish you the best of luck!!!

The last two years I have planted a lot of my plants inside of 4 inch pvc pipe shoved a few inches into the ground. Seems to help with certain insects. The squash borers seem to be a bit less of a problem. Good luck with the bugs.
