What is surah Yaseen?
Surah Yaseen is a Makki chapter that Allah revealed in Makkah. It’s the 36th surah in the Quran, in the 23rd juz.
It precedes surah As-Saffat and comes after surah Fatir.
The first verse of surah Yaseen was its name. It’s a word that consists of two parts “Ya-Sin”. It’s one of the cut letters in Arabic that Allah mentioned in the Quran to demonstrate the miracle of the Quran in Arabic rhetoric.
Benefits of Surah Yaseen:
Surah Yaseen has multiple benefits and virtues mentioned in prophetic sayings that most scholars ruled are weak and false. These Hadiths are:
1. Surah Yaseen Benefits for Forgiving sins
One of the unproved benefits is that reading surah Yaseen is a reason for forgiving sins “Whoever reads Surah Ya-Sin in one night will be forgiven in the morning.”
2. Surah Yaseen is The heart of the Quran
Scholars transmitted hadith that referred to surah Yaseen as the heart of the Quran when reading it ten times.
“Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Quran is Ya-Sin; whoever reads it, it is as if he has read the Quran ten times.”
3. Surah Yaseen Benefits for Facilitate difficulties
Some scholars narrated that reading surah Yaseen facilitates hardships according to this hadith:
” Ya-Sin is for that for which it is read,” meaning that reading Surah Ya-Sin may cause needs to be met and may make things easier, according to the intention of the reader when he reads it.”.
4. Gaining rewards
Some scholars mentioned that reading surah Yaseen equals reciting ten Qurans:” Whosoever reads the heart of the Quran- “Yaseen” in Ramadan will receive the reward of reading 10 Qurans.”
5. Surah Yaseen Benefits from Dying as a Martyr
There is an unproved hadith on reciting surah Yaseen before death as a reason for obtaining martyrdom:” Whoever continues to read it every night then dies, will die as a shahid (martyr).”
6. Surah Yaseen Benefits for Relieving the torment of the grave
“Whoever enters the graveyard and reads Surah Ya-Sin, their (punishment) will be reduced that day, and he will have hasanat (reward) equal to the number of people in the graveyard.”

One of the popular benefits of surah Yaseen is reading it during pregnancy which facilitates childbirth. But according to the sunnah, no hadith mentioned this benefit.
9. non-proven benefits of Surah Yaseen
Moreover, the other non-proven benefits are:
• Satisfying needs “Whoever reads Surah Yaseen at the beginning of the day; his needs will be fulfilled.”
• Reciting surah Yaseen easing dying.
• Guiding the believers to the right path.
Why Was Surah Yaseen Reaveld?
When prophet Muhammed (PBUH) recited surah As-Sajdah loudly, some disbelievers of Quraysh heard him and wanted to stop him, but they suddenly became blind and held their necks. They called prophet Muhammed (PBUH) for help, and then he made dua for them.
The earlier situation was a reason for sending down surah Yassin from the first verse {Yâ-Sĩn} to the tenth verse {It is the same whether you warn them or not-they will never believe}.
Also, Allah sent down this verse {and have placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them and covered them ˹all˺ up, so they fail to see ˹the truth˺} when Abu Jahl wanted to hurt the Messenger of Allah (SAW), but he got blind.
