cheat code, uses a piece of poster board and coat it with the tape. Cut the board to match the circumference of the bucket, role it up and put it inside.
Thanks for this video. It inspired me to do the same but added some improvements. I used a solar turntable, and added reflective tape all over it. Also lined the lid, and added an opening to it for another light to shine through the top.
Use 3m spray adhesive on the inside of the can then use regular foil
This is a great video that shows how to make a cheap and effective UV curing station for resin 3D prints. I like how you used a paint can and a UV LED strip to create a simple but functional device. For a slightly bigger version...mini kegs. Not proper ones that need a pump and gas, the small ones that are really just a big can, hold about a gallon and are a popular gift. I usually get given at least 2 for Xmas.
I didn't even take the paint off, so I have a Wychwood brewery Hobgoblin UV curing keg. :)
I used an empty metal coffee can. Size is about the same and no aluminum tape required because it’s already reflective metal on the inside. Also it was free cause I had it lying around. A $10 solar rotary table and a WiFi controlled “smart” outlet and I can control it from my smartphone
Depending on the tape you use, the UV light you’re getting might be limited to the LEDs, with less from reflection. This is because of the types of protective films that may be present on the tape which absorb UV. The same goes for household mirrors. As the interior of the can is practically covered in LEDs here, this shouldn’t be anything to worry about, but if you build a larger chamber and want to rely on reflection, it’s something to consider.
Thank you for the input! I think if I was going to go larger I would likely get a more directed light that beams down directly into the part. Maybe one day I’ll have a large resin machine :) for now I’m happy with the small minis!

This looks way easier than some of the others that I've seen that required a lot of soldering, more drilling, etc. I'd just have to find a drill, unless they will do it for me at Home Depot.
Yep just get a drill, every home should have one. Might as well.
Kinda same as what I done but I used a bit of card to fit around the inside of the bucket so was able to lay the ducting tape down flat in strips then roll up the card and it expanded inside the bucket and just used double sided tape on the back of the card! I done it this way before the yv bounded off the creases in direction it could miss a spot but can just turn the model depends how tidy you want to be with it lol
this is kinda scary... I literally just made this exact thing last night and here is UA-cam putting this in my recommended list. I haven't searched for anything regarding UV Curing DIY projects either.. kinda weird.
Dude, I saw the video another guy made using a chrome breadbox to put the LED strips into...then the next day I was clearing a cupboard out and I found my grandmothers 1960s chrome breadbox.
You can get the sunlu curing station for the same price when it goes on sale. Which is often. They both get the job done though.
I’ve done this but with the floodlight type led (I designed a lid in fusion) and got a solar turntable. The entire tin inside is reflective.
is the floodlight led sufficient to power the solar turntable or does is need extra power? how long did you use it
@@Neth91 easily enough for hours and hours. It needs the slightest of daylight to turn so the floodlight ensures a constant turn.
It's called a "grommet" that goes in the hole in the bottom. Auto parts store.
These might not be so bad, but you should have a lid that block the UV light when you look into the bucket. UV Light exposure to your eyes for prolonged time is damaging
How long do they need to cure for? I like this project.
Great DIY curing station but then end of the video I see you put an uncured resin miniature in with no gloves on buddy.. protect yourself man, documentation is coming out these days linking it with anything from over-time induced allergic reactions to physical and mental development issues with future children man. I'm not an expert at all, but working in many different fields teaches you that especially when the full effects aren't known you need to protect yourself
China does not care about anything, they produce highly toxic products and export them, finished products or chemicals to produce others, kitchen utensils that have high toxicity enter countries to be sold, containers for water that are not suitable and let's not talk about environmental pollution at produce this.

Мысль правильная, но точно вот так делать не рекомендую. Лента будет нагревать поверхность и отклеиваться. Лучше взять сетчатое металлическое ведерко, какие используют в офисах. После того как наклеите ленту на стенки, зафиксируйте ее кусочками вязальной проволоки, с шагом 10 - 15 см. Успехов.

hello, nice clean build! could you do me a favour and test one of your prints for scratch resistance? i recently built my own uv chamber, similar to yours but with even more power than yours (no flex intended). However, the print surface remains weaker (not scratch resistant) than the fully cured resin of the bottom layers that are in direct contact with the build plate (scratch resistant).

I'm doing this project now and was surprised when my uv lights arrived today the strip doesn't have any paper backing on it, it's just sticky right off of the reel. I'm sure it will work fine though.

@@ModBotArmy It turns out there actually was a backing on the strip, it was just getting stuck to the other lights as I peeled it off. I haven't drilled the hole or tried using it yet but the project seems like it worked out pretty well. If I show it in a video on my own channel I'll link to your video. Here's mine.

LED might be working, but they are not a the "perfect range". You need 405nm and those are 395nm---400nm. It's okay I guess, but could be better if they were 400-405nm ! :)
Hey man great video! thanks for sharing. I was wondering if the heat coming from the UV light can deform the print? specially if its hollow? any experience on that?
UV by nature doesn't heat up things, the heat could come out from the LEDs strip tho
great idea, but you could just hang the model from the lid to cure it evenly.
How long do you leave the prints in the chamber to cure?
The foil tape is not needed with how many LEDs u have included... And you could have not drilled it an just made it upside down and used it as a lid, curing directly on a tray overtop of it

This video can save my life haha! Great stuff! Hey dude, you seem to have a lot of expertise printing resin figures. As of now, I'm stuck with a project that I don't want it to fail in the long term, I had a bad experience with a figure that melted and found how others have gone through the same and even worse, figures that crack and even explode. Some say this is all because of bad curing of the resin inside the hollow area, but my question is, can printing fully solid avoid this issue? And if you let me I would like to ask, can curing only by using sunlight be as tough as curing using UV light?
you should have put led on the floor and a transparent plastic for elevate the piece from it. The piece wont cure well like that you have tu turn it is not helpfull. And you should add a timer too and thats it
well, an hour of work, at 30$ an hour (my little salary) plus some roughly 40$ material, 70$ for a curing station is quite the deal compared to 250$ Luna curing station of phrozen for example ;)
Now, that leaves me 250-70 = 180$ of vodka and then I can finish it off with a lil big fat gringo with my 30$ hourly salary all the meanwhile I'm waiting for my miniature curing, all in all, greatest deal eva XDD
I made one like that,but my resin does not cure fast enough... i coat statue and it runs off before it cures.. What resin is best???...the stuff i use s thick also... and looks great when i put in uv chamber...when its done it is a mess bare spots all over my 3d printed statues... same thing happens when i use 2 part resin... fast cure will solve this issue. thanks
