I just learned what a contrabass clarinet was today and I’m glad someone is writing for it specifically! There are a ton of ear worms in here! This is the coolest high art music piece I’ve found since discovering Steve Reich, but it’s a lot more accessible for casual listeners like me.
@@DavidBennettThomas No problem! You’re a very talented musician. I was wondering if you could possibly make a video for each one by itself?? If so thank you so much, if not it’s totally fine!
This is contemporary music done right! I’m a fan Loving these super clever time signature changes! The first page of Starfish and the part starting on measure 45 of Sea anemone was so interesting.
Just found your composition - would you accept it be played by a Contra Alto Clarinet (or Eb Contrabass Clarinet) as well? I'm always seeking new, playable material. And if so, where can i purchase the sheet music? Greetings from Finland!
This would be hard to play on a Soprano clarinet much less a great bass. Who is the performer? Lately I've noticed that the contrabass is not a good medium for jazz. It has better been used in movies with great effect and mood. I prefer an instrument like this to match the intent of this piece. My basic thought is that the low bass instruments are not pleasant as swing, aside from string.
wow. It's not often you see pieces for contrabass clarinet.
I played contrabass in highschool...
I never thought it could sound so beautiful!

Catfish is my favorite but all of these are utterly amazing.
Awww, thanks so much!

Beautiful - I can picture the animals' movement! My favourite is the Starfish.
This is so cool. I never thought a contrabass clarinet could be versatile and beautiful. This piece of music is also quieky and fyn.

Great piece and performance! Congrats to all involved! The crabs on either end of the performance are also too cute :)
This selection of pieces capture each animals movement perfectly! Job well done!
the range is insanely impressive! well done!
Very cool piece David. Bravo Sarah 🎶
2:40 this section of cray fish reminds me of a dream theatre/ tool song
Love it!
Awesome
would LOVE to know what kind of contra this was played on. a paperclip LeBlanc? Selmer 41? eppelsheim?
Selmer contrabass I’m pretty sure
@@rupertaustin a paperclip LeBlanc would also have the range (I've seen them in low C) and no doubt the Eppelsheim goes that low as well.
There's a photo of her with a Selmer at the end.
