If you are going to Vancouver Island, the coho and chinook salmon runs are happening now! Stamp Falls Provincial Park (with a fish ladder for the salmon) is free and only a few minutes out of your way if you are passing through Port Alberni heading to Tofino and Pacific Rim National Park. Cape Scott and San Josef Bay at the north end of Vancouver Island would be a shame to miss!
On Vancouver Island you can snorkel swim with the salmon in Campbell River. If you want 100% guaranteed Orca sightings go to Telegraph Cove on Vancouver Island or in Victoria.
On Granville Island Go fish for fish and chips, Lee's donuts and terra bread. Museum of Anthropology out at UBC, Britannia heritage mine museum near Squamish on sea to sky hwy (the road to whistler). At the night market there is a strawberry cheesecake mochi that is super yummy
True Fact: did you know that the Grey squirrel is considered an invasive species in British Columbia as they have almost decimated our native Red and Douglas squirrels. So glad you are enjoying being here!
Lynn Canyon suspension bridge...that current steel cable bridge replaced the original rope and wooden bridge around the 1970s. The steel cable suspension system was also reinforced in the 1990s. Before those improvements, the suspension crossing was way more scarier ... not like the tame version today. Looking through the wooden slats and seeing the water below, wondering whether one of the wooden slats would snap, and the more pronounced swaying when lots of people were on the bridge made the experience much more intense. I still remember my first crossing of that original rope bridge back in my younger days ... I was shaking so much and holding onto the rope for dear life ... like being in an Indiana Jones adventure.
Hi guys. Really enjoyed the Granville market segment as I used to have lunch there sometimes when I was at art college. The Emily Carr college of Art and Design was located just down the street from the market when I attended in the late 80's to early 90's getting my Fine Arts degree. The market looks like it really hasent changed much in over 30 years and that's a good thing as it is a great market. By the way Emily Carr is one of BC''s most famous artists. She painted from the late 1890's into the 1940's. I was lucky enough to see her paintings of the rain forest she did later in life at the Vancouver Art gallery and they are amazing paintings.
Granville market has a great energy! Must have been a great area to attend school, you must be talented! We will keep our eyes peeled for Emily Carrs work, thanks for sharing!
EEK! That all looked so delicious! Awe baby love, I felt you on those tears at the end. Our foodie to the core. Miss you 4 so dang much it hurts. I appreciate these videos because it really does feel like we are hanging out with y'all. Very true to a day in the life with you both.
Every year I think to myself, I gotta check out the Richmond night market, and every year I miss it! That sushi taco looked AMAZING. One place to try the next time you come to Vancouver is Via Tevere Pizzeria, a neopolitan pizza place on Victoria Drive, just a block over from Commercial Drive, also a neat little multi-cultural community. They have a huge stone oven that's like 900 degrees, they make the pizza dough there when you order it, then bake the pizza in that super hot oven for like 90 seconds. Best. Pizza. I. Have. Ever. Had. Sub'd!
I've done Capilano, and if you were freaked or on Lynn, you don't wanna do Capilano. It's wider and wobbly. I was freaked out on that one. Looks like fun! Make me wanna go back to Vancouver. Stay safe yall & God bless.
About a mile from my house is a suspension bridge used by cars and trucks even busses its 262 ft over the river but its over a day north from Vancouver by car
Those iconic gray squirrels are the number one invasive species in the region...they are EVERYWHERE in the city now...thousands and thousands...Thanks, New York! They're cute as hell but yowza. :)
Your playing where I spent my youth, back in the 70s it's where you went to escape, you can see why it was popular, and you probably saw the comerative plaques dedicate to the many who have lost their lives, an inheriant danger woven into an amazing landscape, hope you enjoyed your visit to Lynn canyon.
Wow what an incredible place to grow up! Yes Lynn canyon was beautiful. We did see the plaques, and definitely heeded the warnings. Thanks for watching!
Well done I enjoyed your video. I lived in Victoria for many years now I'm out in Rock Creek BC, go to Hope take highway number three you will enjoy the drive.
You guys have to make the trip to Whistler or Squamish when you have the chance. Or, hit up Grouse Mountain (but that one costs a bit). Steveston is also a hidden gem as well.
Hello You two globetrotters. You make me feel nostalgic for my youth! I spent my best 12 years in Vancouver and along the west coast. I met my husband there (best choice ever) and I'm now in ontario. Your video reminded me of all of the fantastic things that I love so very much about the west coast of Canada. Thank you for your video 😊
Anne Ballantyne, calamari is squid! You've never had calamari? It's all over the place, especially in Greek restaurants, but many other western restaurants too have it as a standard appetizer.
You’ve made me so excited for my next adventure to the mainland. We haven’t been to the Night Market yet! I hope you’re enjoying the inevitably gorgeous drive to where your next destination is, and that this storm isn’t affecting your travels too much! Reed sounds like me at heights for sure. 😅
@@deniseandreedI look forward to one day following in your footsteps. Driving up the Sunshine Coast is high on my list of things to do next year, along with hitting Squamish and Whistler, and omg to one day make it to Alaska! 🤩 I haven’t been anywhere out here in BC aside from the island and Vancouver, and my mind is blown anytime I see pictures and videos. Safe travels! Stoked to be following along on your journey!
As a kid I'd get about 1/2 way across that suspension bridge and then panic and freeze. The other kids would run across and it bounces and sways and feels sketchy as hell. Love seeing it again though.
Hahaha what a great memory eh? The swaying was sketchy for sure. I'm sure kids purposefully make it sway hard. We were surprised at how steep the bridge was!
next time you're in vancouver, if you want to try good poutine you should check out la belle patate on davie street. best poutine! and authentic montreal style. davie in general is worth checking out as the davie village is part of the gaybourhood as we call it. it's a cool part of the city :)
You guys are probably to hell and gone from Vancouver. By now, I am writing this in late September. If you get the chance, try to get up to Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, and Lillooet then come back down into the Fraser Valley it is an amazing Trip around.
@@deniseandreed that is the most I have ever seen on that bridge at one time. The canyon itself is notorious for the large number of drownings as the undertow and flow rate is surprisingly high and mostly young adults do not respect the danger

@@deniseandreed gonna try it for sure next year when the market starts up again!
If you're going to Vancouver Island, you should check out the Horne Lake caves.
The greater Vancouver area and BC in general had it all. Everyone east of the Rocky Mountains is envious. But they will never admit it. Enjoy😷
Yes it’s an incredible area!
You guys should definitely drive through Kelowna. It's about 4 hours from Vancouver. Known for fruit orchards, fresh water lakes, beaches, and wine.

If you like old trees you should go to Vancouver Island and check out some of the giants.
We love old-growth forests! That's a great recommendation

Is there a video coming of your visit to Vancouver Island?
Not this time BUT we are already planning our next trip to the Island. We want to visit Tofino and so much more.
So how does Vancouver area compare to where you are from in USA?
It’s awesome! Very clean safe city overall. The surrounding natural beauty is unmatched for a large city. It has a strong international feel to it
Whistler! It's not that far!
❤
❤️ we miss you two already! Have a fun trip!
welcome to my home city
Thank you! Vancouver is a great city. It ranks very high on our list of favorites
Night Market is cool, but it’s gotten outta hand. It used to only be $2 - $3 per dish back in the early-mid 2000’s
We’ve heard! As budget travelers we were definitely wishing we had visited years ago, but we didn’t want to pass up the opportunity.
Lots of other places for Asian food around metro Vancouver cheaper including the bubble tea
Yeah, I bet! You pay more at the night market for the experience. Do you have a favorite place to eat?
Capilano is pronounced “cap-in-lan-oh”
Ahhhh okay thank you!!
Food looked even for me…
There was chicken skewers there! Haha

Lynn Canyon: all those tourists on a supposedly “local knowledge” hiking area. Ugh. Come back in the off season when the locals are about.
