You two are the cutest (well maybe the pups are the cutest). Love your videos and it makes me a little more brave knowing we can do longer trips. I also think there is something really good for ones mental state to have a ration of a food now and then. Kinda like when you go backpacking or camping. We live in such a need it now world where we can just pop into our fridge or the nearby store but when you are out at anchor and don't have that option it makes you rethink things.
You guys are the first Motor Cruiser blog channel I have come across! Finally! I’m currently looking into buying a quicksilver 855 (kinda close to your merry fisher) thanks for the tips!
Awesome videos guys. Just bought a Maritimo M60 here on the GC after 10 years without a boat so great to see your anchorages, even though we’re too big to get in to most of them. Really interesting to see the difference in what you have to do in preparation for a few days away compared to us who have the luxury of 5 refrigerators on board, and also your need to conserve power, whereas we have 2 large gensets. It’s great that you can obviously have just as much fun on a well set out smaller boat as we can on a boat more than twice your size. I’m almost envious. Hopefully see you on the water soon.
Glad we can help, some nice humble brags in there :) Enjoy that awesome vessel. Go check out Peel Island this weekend, should be all N winds so good and protected.
Absolutely Brilliant Video. Congratulations to both of you. Really appreciate all your time taken to film and edit it. You sail in a beautiful area. Just one question . How do you heat the HW system. Do you use the « coffee « generator ? Or rely on your bigger leisure battery ? You Have you fitted an inverter? If so I missed that video. Pleased to learn the Solar worked well, as you know I have the same unit. The only thing we lack ( in the UK) your lovely cloudless skies. Enjoyed the cooking and storing elements too! Thanks again and best regards to you both ( plus your hounds of course)!
Thanks John, I appreciate the comments. This was a bugger to edit! But fun to see the outcome. Especially some of the drone shots whilst moving. You must have missed the video where I installed a 12V hot water system - ua-cam.com/video/PGcqYfo1rYU/v-deo.html (can't believe you missed one! hahaha). So no inverter just that HW system, which is 240V and 12V. Yes I was really happy with how everything, including the solar worked. Good to hear from you, hope all is well and you are out on the water soon.
I'm 6'2" the headroom is very good. You will be ducking to go through the doorways but inside there is plenty. Both the bow and mid cabin are as long as a queen size bed. I don't have problems with leg room at night. Hope that helps
Where do you store your garbage that is generated by the trip? Just bought a slightly used 2021 NC 895 and looking forward to doing the same type of trip here in NY.
Yeah Steven, planning!!!! Remove all excess packaging, take tins rather than bottles, plan your meals; it is tricky.. We managed the three days with a small bin that was kept just behind the captain seat. I have tied up a bag an put in the lazerette. Congrats on your new 895. Where do you go in NY?
@@TheRudder we live in Port Jefferson Ny (Northeast shore of Long Island) and our boat will hail from the harbor next door Mt. Sinai. We had a smaller vessel prior with a single screw that didn’t allow us to go far. Hoping to do the small towns on the shore across in Connecticut, eventually make it to Martha’s Vineyard, Block Island and Newport Rhode Island to start! You’ve been an inspiration to my husband and I.
Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but two tips for garbage: 1) it’s AMAZING how much you can squash into an empty plastic milk bottle (and how satisfying it is doing so). Push stuff in with your thumb or a wooden spoon. Also, with the cap back on, it’s sealed, can’t spill, with no smell. 2) more bulky rubbish can go in plastic bag and store in the anchor locker
THANKS FOR YOUR EFFORTS MUCH APPRECIATED. IM PONDERING BOATS AND CONSIDERING AN 895 0R 1095 OR EVEN AN ANTARES 11. WHAT HOT WATER SYSTEM ARE U USING NOW AND WHAt was the problem with the original hot water system ? also on the 895 is there room for a second fridge ? thanks again Phil
Hi Phil - I switched to a 12V /240V system - ua-cam.com/video/PGcqYfo1rYU/v-deo.html No real problem with the old system but without an inverter or running the generator for hours there was no hot water. As for the fridge we have just purchased removable 12v 35L fridge. We will either keep it in the mid-cabin or in the lazarette. The only place you could wire a second fridge would be in the mid-cabin BUT it might make it even tighter in there if people slept there. Hope that helps
It is the mango tree sap. Sometimes it can be on the skin of the mango and Brooke is allergic to it. Lots of people are and come out in a red rash. BUT she is fine to eat the mango without the skin.

Thanks, glad you enjoy the puppies taking part in our adventures. Let us know if you have any videos you would like us to make.
Another great video. Thank you loads for all the tips. They are all highly appreciated.
Glad you like them!

Great video! Question, couldnt you plug the coffee maker i to the boat itself?
We don't have an inverter, only 12v power
Do you know if you change the toilet from marine to fresh water? Great videos as always
I haven't seen it in a 895 but you can do it in a 1095, check out this video - ua-cam.com/video/xtMarWqdrNc/v-deo.html
