Please do Sibelius's Finlandia! Thanks for your work, great video.
Thank you! Just listened to it and read some context around it, amazing piece. It's on the 'To Do' list now.
An event in the History of Halloween-related Art Music History, alongside Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, and Symphony no. 40.
Thank you for the suggestions! I had The Magic Flute on my list already and I'll add the others too. The first suggestion might be good after I've made a couple other videos as it may be more research-intensive than the others but I really like the unique angle to it.
Great to watch.
Very interesting. Please do more of those videos :)
Thank you so much! Definitely planning on making more when I get the time
Thank You for your scholarship / delivery!
Thank you for watching! I aimed to be as thorough as I could with the research
Nice video, please add more.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I will be making more when I get the time.
Please go down this rabbit hole and investigate if anyone is trying to use AI to finish the Requiem. It would be an ideal application for an advanced computer intelligence and would be an incredibly interesting follow up to this.
Pronounced 'vulf-GAHHHNG', and 'mo-TSart', not 'wolf-GAING' and 'mo-zart'. (The 'z' is pronounced like a 'TS', not like a 'zed'.) 😢
Please check your pronunciation. It is not Agnes as a girls name but phonetically....unyus.....Agnus Dei.....lamb of God
Thank you for the clarification. When recording the audio I was trying to find how to pronounce a lot of the Latin phrases online as I had not been exposed to them before. Yet, online there was a lot of conflicting pronunciations which made it more confusing! Will make sure to work on my pronunciations better in the future as I feel it was one of the biggest weaknesses of the video.
A very helpful introduction to the work. The main issue with pronunciation is the name Mozart itself: it’s pronounced Mo-tsart, not with a soft z sound as in zip.
@@rajs6804 Yes, the creator(s) of this video have graciously welcomed one correction, presumably because they know that getting these things right considerably enhances their credibility and the listener’s trust in their research/ knowledge of the subject. All the more important for the key name repeated many times in the video. I trust that they also know the corrections are made in a constructive spirit of helpfulness, because we want the video to be viewed and appreciated without niggling doubts by many more people than just us.
Thank you, I realised the mispronunciation during editing and did not have time to re-record the script. Will work on pronouncing words correctly for future videos.
This is a great breakdown of the Requiem! I had not known all this! There are just a couple things I thought would be helpful in clarifying, as regards the Catholic theology. In the Domine Jesu, I believe it's intended to refer to the souls in Purgatory who will eventually be saved. Although, the translation I found said Hell as well- but Catholicism states that Hell is an eternal, willed separation from God, so salvation for them is impossible. Maybe it is referring to Purgatory as Hell, as that is what we kinda mean when we say Christ "descended into Hell" after his death on the Cross. Secondly, Catholics do not believe that Communion is a symbol of the Body and Blood of Christ, but that it literally is through Transubstantiation (the appearance, or accidents, remain as bread and wine, but the whole substance is changed into the Body and Blood of Christ). Most Protestants believe it to be a symbol. I don't blame you for getting that wrong though, it probably took a lot of research to cover this song!! Excellent job!!
Thank you so much! very helpful corrections. I am not a Catholic and hadn't been introduced to Catholicism much throughout my life so I was enjoying learning about the faith alongside all the requiem stuff.
