I'm from Isan. There are at least 50 Lao sub-ethnics in Isan region and Laos. There's no one Lao. Isan people has a good relationship with Siam, while Laos like being isolated as their region consists of 2/3 mountain and hill areas and to this day Laotian have been keeping up with Thai media, as if we're still in the same country, but they like to tell different things to tourists which contradicts to reality.
