Thanks Jonathan, I've always been a winning player, nothing huge but I found myself making a deposit and running up 3000-5000 bb but always finding myself in a slump and losing much of it back and then the cycle would start again, up down, up down. Rule number 1 has gotten me back to winning consistently. That an not being afraid to try some things out like CR bluff, or CR on a big draw. So right now I've deposited 40 bb and presently am sitting at a little over 1100 bb. Up about 650 bb since watching this video a week ago.
John you probably won’t see this but I live in Georgia and the only option I have to play live cash games is in NC, no idea if the games are soft or not but I just want your opinion on if making a 3 hour drive every other weekend to play 1/2 live would even be worth it. I get volume during the week days online. I would want to make this a regular thing considering the games are soft on weekends.
4:28 Why does this GTO range chart suggest 22 almost always call here but 55 almost always folds? Is it something to do with straights with an Ace? Or maybe reverse implied odds postflop due to a harder time folding a higher pair? Honestly super confused about this.
Should be because of board coverage. You have A5S and A4s as calls so you can fold some 44 and 55 but you need 22 and 33 to have some 2s and 3s in your calling range.
GTO balances out with having certain % of calls and folds. In this case it's weirdly folding "better" pairs, but in practice if you don't hit a set any small pair will play nearly the same: you have to fold most of the time against continuos aggression oop. Difference in EV calling or folding is probably quite small and in practice I'd tend to call all pairs preflop in bb against only UTG open.
Did I play Jack’s right at the final table in position five handed go to my left has three big blinds that pay jumpers from 5th to 4th another 40% guy in middle position raises one blind yeah it’s about a 40% larger than mine. I shove all in position with Jackhe has.aces
I usually 3bet alot preflop just because I know the fish over fold the river against a 200% pot size bluff. The fish call often betting thin for value on river 30-40%.They always underbluff .
I'm struggling to understand this. I feel like one of the very first things I learned was to not give away hand strength by using specific sizes and I feel like this is exactly what we're doing here? If we just bet small/medium with all of our marginal value hands, we be exploited by facing a ton of raises? What am I missing?
You're assuming the other players are paying attention and many are not, at least not the ones you want in the pot with you. If they are exploiting you make sure to continue with small bet when you have a strong hand that you can 3bet them with. Give them something to think about. Then try a 3bet bluff against them. Keep them guessing.
If AKo is against a range only of AA-QQ & AK then it's c. 38%. If it's QQ against the same range, the QQ is 40% and the AK has blockers to AA & KK and AK so actually they're both almost the same equity.
lol sorry voice to text middle position raises 2bbs I’m in los with his was mostly trying to get fold equity this guy plays wide even at final table I shove if I just call and see the board which was all low. I would’ve called it off anyways.

8:50 i dont know if i would go thinly like 50% pot or if i would jam for value. (Like i would do if i had a busted flush draw as a bluff)
Thanks for the super high-quality free content!
Hi JL, I suggest improving the quality of the charts. range analyzer on your website works well

Your bet size is based on your range, not your hand

5:34 Why on Earth does AKo want to go all in in a spot where QQ folds?! Unless your opponent has exactly KK, QQ is a way better hand than AKo.
If AKo is against a range only of AA-QQ & AK then it's c. 38%. If it's QQ against the same range, the QQ is 40% and the AK has blockers to AA & KK and AK so actually they're both almost the same equity.
practice leaving the card room is how we win . hahah
Empty just in time for christmas
