  • To replace a sledge hammer handle in 5 minutes is the same for any wooden handled tool like ax or pick. The trick to sledge hammer wooden handle replacement is to drill around the perimeter of the wood where it touches the tool as a metal drill bit will do little damage scraping the inside of the head of a shovel, hoe or hammer.
Drilling around then removing the metal wedge in the middle stops wood tension against the old metal head.

Perfect thank you great video! I fitted one yesterday, mine needed work on the shaft to size it but fitted nicely and now sitting in a tub of water, good for 10 years now

You are the only channel to indicate that the hammer stamped weight size is the handle side and that is what I was trying to find. Thanks 😊. 0:09

Trust me , it works. Don't ask me why or try to get scientific. 😂 I've done this with sledgehammer , hatchets, axes , etc. I don't know why I watch these videos. 😅 There's just so many ways to put handles on. You really don't need the steel wedge at the end if you do a good job. I do use glue for the wood one though.
