Alex's voice sounds so different in this track. And in a good, interesting way. Almost like it's not even him, but he's trying to impersonate who would be the host of this imaginary hotel. Don't you think?

Yeah I can see that I like how he sounds different on this album.
Methinks much of the difference is the vocal effect - this is the only song on the album that doesn't utilize slapback delay.
Side note - methinks listening to Alex's weird English wording is quite remarkable in this comment

Despite all the hate this album is getting I really think it is their most "mature" one. People cannot expect from artists to compose the same music at a certain age as they would in their teens. I am not a music expert but all the songs seem pretty complex to me and I feel this album is really coming out of their hearts. It's been almost 10 years that I listen to the Arctic Monkeys and I love how they never cease to surprise me!

I commented on another track after hearing this album for the very first time. Alex's lyrical and vocal stylings remind me so much of Bowie. Someone else who never stood still for very long.

I work at this quiet bar downtown with the dim lighting that people come at the end of their long day to enjoy a drink and relax. Last night, just before we closed for the night, most of the clients had left and I felt in the mood to listen to the new Arctic Monkeys album because its that kind of music.
It fitted the mood perfectly. We had like 10 people left in the bar at that exact time and they were lightly swaying to the music, enjoying their drinks. One of the clients came up to me and asked me: "I have never heard of these songs before. Is this the Arctic Monkeys? Because it sounds like them," and I said "Yeah, it's their new album. It was released like 5 days ago," to which he replied: "I see. It's a bit jazzy and slower than usual but I like it. It makes me feel good."
And that's my answer to all the people saying that this new album is so different from the last ones and you don't like it. It still sounds like them. People recognise them. It's different but it's still beautiful. Very sensual, very slow. I would love to listen to it at the end of every day while having a good drink in my hand.
I’d never of thought this would of been my favourite AM album when I first heard it. Now I can’t even listen to their old stuff. This album is a masterpiece. A true reflection of an artist that evolves with every record he puts out

Arabella XX Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize the band was supposed to stick to a single vaguely defined genre for their entire career.
Alex Turner had a lot of influences from varied sources which took the sound of the album to a new direction. This is being called 'lounge pop', I believe, with a lot of synth work.
Making music does not mean churning out the same sound for a decade and then dying out. Not many artists today are using genuine influence to explore fresh new sounds. The least we can do is to appreciate the artists who are doing so.
Yes we dont mind change, we welcome it, this change was a bad one. Will wait for the next album..

This song is underrated
I’ll be the first to admit I was stubborn when I first heard this album but it’s such a work of art, so metaphorical, even from the first line ‘Jesus in the day spa, filling out the information form’ saying how these modern ‘Instagram’ influencers think they are as influential as figure such as Jesus but on their day to day just criticise and review certain places for the masses. Follows up with ‘mama got her hair done, just popping out to sing a protest song’ a prime example of this is the girl who got dressed up to get a photo for social media in the black lives matter protest. This album is about our society and how fucked up it is, such depth to these lyrics, as catchy and amazing their previous albums have been this one is next level

Fantastic album all round. I understand that people who were looking for the old punkish AM sound full of distortion and energy didn't get what they wanted, but if you're a David Bowie fan this is right up your alley. It's very reminiscent of early Bowie albums, you can hear some resemblance in the vocals, but also the style.

Que ironia escuchar criticar este nuevo álbum por el nuevo estilo musical que trae esta banda, pero ellos son los artistas, lo que ellos hacen es lo que les inspira, lo que los hace crear (desde el inicio han sido ellos) si este hubiera sido el primer álbum estuvieran criticando "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not", es mejor apreciar el arte desde todos sus matices sin buscar defectos que no tiene ningún sentido, por cierto esta muy bueno este álbum...
