Using The Gas And Brake Pedals-Beginner Driving Lesson

In this video, I go over a driving lesson on using the gas and brake pedals. There are 2 pedals that are on the floor of an automatic car that control the car's movement with regards to acceleration and braking. I talk about what they are used for, and go over some practice exercises for using them properly!

My problem with driving is that I'm either speeding too much or not driving fast enough, I'm naturally heavy footed so its hard to drive at a safe speed, my test is on Tuesday , I've been watching all your videos on turning & I can say that I feel so much better.

Today was my first time revving a car and I didn’t know that I needed to ease into the pedal. I just pushed it and it revved really loud and it scared the shit out of me. Imagine it’s not on parked, oh my goodness. Thank you so much for teaching me this HAHAHAHA

I liked the way my instructor used to let me be more cautious when pressing the gas pedal....all he said to be was DRIVE! now bear in mind this was my FIRST driving lesson and all he said was DRIVE! I immediatedly pressed really hard on the pedal but the car did not move, instead the engine was reving really fast. He then turned to me and said "next time put the car in drive and don't press the pedal so hard or else we'll be goung in that wall faster than how the engine revved...I've been careful and cautious ever since now my starts are clean and smooth😂😂😂

I couldn't feel the brake OR gas pedals, I think it was my shoes, I wasted $100 on 2 lessons and spent ALL that time trying to brake at a fence or car and it was sooo inconsistent that the next time I looked at the clock the 2 hour lesson was GONE, I was soo frustrated, I have decided to buy a cheap car to just practice in an empty car park by myself for a few hours. The instructor was patient but I found that I need to be alone to really train myself , starting and stopping.

When driving an automatic car, if you take your foot off the pedal when the car is in drive, the car will move right? Can you use this to gauge the speed when driving through a high density area like a parking lot or parking garage?

Alexis Johnson the car will move if it’s in drive and your foot off the brake. You can however but it depends.
