The social side is good, meeting people from all walks of life, race or creed. Finally the fraternity raises about $5 million world wide a day for charitable causes, not bad going in my opinion.
It all comes down to where you as an individual draw the line between what you feel is bearable for the sake of peace and where you feel you have to take action against injustice. A great many Americans of that era mason and non-mason alike felt that the British governance was too oppressive to be borne and did not give the colonists any redress to their grievances or representation in government.
To the Maryland Freemasons from Washington Freemason, Thank you for this excellent video that describe what we all hope to inspire in others.and that we find in our self's.
I am a DeMolay, and when I return to the US I intend to become a Freemason. Why? The thought of having like minded brothers who are not afraid of knowledge, who seek to expand it while perfecting the individual and through that the world itself is inspiring to me. To discuss and ponder the widom of the ages, to honor God and explore his vast creation inspires me! Freemasonry is inspirition! Look at our founding fathers and their Chivalry which has made possible the modern world!
Firstly the word temple is used for several reasons, firstly the lodge uses the building of King Solomon's temple as an allegory for its lessons. Secondly a temple if not always a religious structure, universities used to be referred to as temples of learning, any building used for one purpose can be referred to as a temple of some kind.
I've been nudged many times, and i'm ready to go and take my oath as soon as C19 is over and my nearby lodge is open. My extensive philosophical, theological, and historic research has pointed me this way for months now - and this is the right path i'm going to go on. Thank you god for steering me this way - blindfolded and by intuition & faith.
i know this comment will have nothing to do with this video but I Love that all the comments on this video are from (for the most part) well educated people and they don't make a fool of themselves. I THANK YOU DEARLY.
A Freemason is a member of the Masonic fraternity. A man who believes in the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. We are bound by our solemn pledge to honor God (yes, the same God as anyone else), to do right by our neighbors, and to live an honorable life. It's really not as complicated as some would lead you to believe.
I suppose it is different in your jurisdiction. Here in Maryland I assure you that is not true. Keeping a man out of the Fraternity based on the color of his skin or the faith he practices goes directly against your Masonic obligation.
@@laurencelance586 It may depend where you are, but I know where I'm from we have progressed from that....Nevertheless there was another branch formed for that reason. Prince Hall Masonry.. @randman21 Why would you want to cast aspersions, on such an outstanding fraternity? How shallow is you heart? The penalties spoken of in the obligation, are indeed severe. However, it is explained to the Candidate. that these are merely SYMBOLIC penalties...from King Solomon's time...and no longer apply. Funny how people like you always FORGET to mention that bit, isn't it? I pity you...but pity more, those who know you personally.
@@TheRealist2022 How is it an aspersion if it's true and verifiable? I put no personal opinion in my comment whatsoever, so what makes you defensive? Sir, you would be wasting your time trying to convince me this organization is on the up-and-up. It's a secret religion cloaked in a secret fraternity. You can't prove that those penalties are never carried out, just as I can't prove they are. But the Initiate must agree to such penalties, and the ones making them swear have explicit (in writing) authority immunity to carry them out. From Morals and Dogma, pg 819 "Part of the symbols are displayed there to the Initiate, but he is intentionally misled by false interpretations. It is not intended that he shall understand them; but it is intended that he shall IMAGINE he understands them. Their true explication is reserved for the Adepts, the Princes of Masonry. The whole body of the Royal and Sacerdotal Art was hidden so carefully, centuries since, in the High Degrees..." So I know either you are lying (like ol' Ben Franklin up there) or are being lied to by someone you call Most Worshipful. The God I worship never lies to me or tries to hide His secrets. In fact, He revealed this info to me.
@@randman21 Clearly, you did not read Brother Realists post properly. He stated that when a Candidate has explained to him, the penalties for divulging Masonic secrets, he is THEN told that the punishments are no longer necessary, as the obligation taken suffices. Hence, there IS no murder or mutilation under ANY circumstances. Bro. Realist PROUDLY defends our Craft, because he (like me!) is sick and tired of people telling lies about us. The lies blacken our good name and that cannot be allowed to happen. We CAN prove the penalties are never carried out. Just buy a ritual book and you will be able to read it for yourself. Anyone may own one. You can get them from online retailers and read our rituals for yourself. You have quoted from Pike (sheeeeeeshhhhhh!!!) but you really ought not do that. Very often, things are explained n florid language...or are taken out of context...or are completely misquoted....or are simply untrue. It's vital to understand that Pike had his own interpretation of Freemasonry. Not everyone agrees with him. In fact...many do not! Pike wrote that awful book, Morals and Dogma...or did he? No. in fact he wrote around 50% of it. The rest of it was taken from other works by many other people. The foreword was written by his colleagues at the Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction. Part of that foreword was not very complimentary...it read "it would have been better if he had written less and borrowed more"! So it's is by no means certain, that he wrote that stuff about people being misled! Some theories on this speculate that it actually refers to the Knights Templar ritual and is nothing to do with Freemasonry after all. We'll never know.
There has certainly been a lot of blood shed down through the ages by men who claimed to do so in the name of God. However, your blanket statement doesn't follow basic logic. The actions of some do not equate to the actions of all.

Johnathon Freemasonry is not a Religion and it does not offer Salvation to its members its as religious as a good game of Cricket. No one has to sell their soul or sacrifice their family to be a Freemason it judges a man on his character not his creed colour social class or ethnicity
The question of what is Freemasonry is one of the most interesting ones that can be asked. Freemasonry brings men together. it transcends politics and religion. In times of war Freemasons were able to retain a measure of humanity. The American Civil War is an example of a divided nation being healed by Freemasonry. Freemasonry is a place where men can put aside difference of politics and religion. In a World where it is easy to find disharmony; Freemasonry creates harmony. Brother Gerard
A great video, well done! ... It is a shame to see so much ignorance in many of the comments. It is truly sad to me that there is so much vested interest in remaining ignorant of the true beauty and potential of humanity. That people must ridicule that which they don't truly understand in defense of their own religion.Jesus himself was a rebel against the vested interests of the religion of his day. Freemasonry teaches tolerance and acceptance as well a encouraging its members to seek understanding of their true nature and to suggest that Freemasonry it is Satanistic or Luciferic is to show ignorance of their own VSL / Bible.
Sad isn't it! Something so positive can be made out to be so evil by people whom have an agenda to push in comments prior. I am a Freemason and I enjoy the fact that I can sit in my Lodge with other men from all faiths with no preconceptions on what type of person they may be. I have my faith and they have theirs'. That's the end of the religious conversation in Lodge. I like the majority of men would like to live my time here on this earth in peace with my family and grow old hoping that my children's hopes and dreams can be realized. Not a bad ambition to strive for! To all those apposed to Freemasonry, ask yourself. What positive effect have you had on the world WITHOUT seeking acknowledgement for doing so? Freemasonry is not for everyone! Nor do we expect it is. But if you think that you can be a better man, then ask questions from your local lodge.
By accepting other religions you can not be Christian that conflict with Christian beliefs. Freemasonry conflicts with Christianity. Sorry moe but your a pagan
Christianity is a monotheistic religion, people who accept other religions in worship is paganism, common sense! The beginning of Christianity fought against this form of practice during in Rome.
+Maxber Maxy Freemasonry is a Secular Fraternity and we have men of all colour, creed, social class and ethnicity, but we do not have atheists as members its one of the Landmarks.I have not chosen hell and you would not like Freemasonry as we are a bunch of tolerant men who judge a man on his character
The answer to your question depends on what you mean by ordinary. If you mean can a man of average means, then my answer is absolutely yes. You do not need to be wealthy or powerful to be a Freemason. However, our fraternity does require you to be of extraordinary moral character. Freemasonry is not about making bad men good, but about making good men better. It is indeed the internal character of a man which we hold in regard, not the external characteristics.

I am a Mason and am curious: What does masonry provide that any other social organization or religion does not? Outside of the rituals what makes Masonry special?
I've been a Mason for 3 years and have never really had the time to devote to the craft. The truth is, for me, I joined for something different and to have a night out. When I'm at lodge I enjoy the fellowship. I enjoy the emphasis on doing good in the community. ...But it will always be second to my church.
@@SethMacLeod95It could be. Freemasonry does not tell a man what deity is the right one or the wrong one.. that is a very personal choice and we leave that up to the individual. @netgalactic A Mason may follow any faith he wishes, we do not tell him what's what in religious stakes. The only stipulation is that the deity he believes in, must be responsible for the creation of the universe.

To each one of us we, are the center of our universe, and once i was able to figure that out and remove every outside influence it became obvious to me. I believe that ince you figure this out for yourself you no longer have any desire to cheat others of the information you know.
Jesus did nothing in secret, God never does anything in secret. Jesus is the way, the truth and the light. You cannot "earn" your way into heaven, eternal life is through the grace of God and believing that his son died for your sins. It is a gift.

Do it i am going to do the same.
Ben, you WON'T be worshipping the true God in your masonic temple - The Supreme Being is Baphomet, an alis of Satan. Be very careful.....
i know this comment will have nothing to do with this video but I Love that all the comments on this video are from (for the most part) well educated people and they don't make a fool of themselves.

I think historically Freemasonry had a lot of racist elements....If im not mistaken that is why there is the Prince Hall Masory...
@@Lambdamale. While I have occasionally found racists who are Masons, I find no elements of racism in the Craft.
@@laurencelance586 It may depend where you are, but I know where I'm from we have progressed from that....Nevertheless there was another branch formed for that reason. Prince Hall Masonry.. They are chartered by UGLE, but some lodges still don't recognize them. But as far as I know they are recognized by GRC and we even work together with them. It looks to me that the segregation from both sides is diminishing.
@ William Derby I haven't been around near as long as you. Most of what I'm saying comes through just researching the subject through books and talking to old timers such as yourself. I've only been a MM for a few years.
@ William Derby Honestly tge last year because of Covid, I haven't really done much, even with the online meetings. I got busy with my teenagers, and other things. But yeah I got into it to try something new and meet new people. I always enjoyed lodge before the lockdowns began.
In order to find yourself and the meaning of life, only requires an enlightened mind not a group or "brotherhood" All that is necessary is you.

This is an excellent explanation of Freemasonry. Does anyway know where I could get this in writing?
@666NSBM88 I will reply to your statement with a simple fact. In the 1930's, there were 85,000 Freemasons in Germany. Hitler and his Nazis wiped out 80,000 of them. So I ask you how what you have said could possibly, remotely be true?
What's the title of music in the background?

I love this, thanks for the inspiration! ;) Most paint masonry in a negative light and condemn and criticize without first knowing the facts (I used to be the same), once the truth is seen, it's almost funny how many anti-masonic teachings there are out here when masonry in my eyes is a fraternity I'm proud of that lend's helping hands and stands for what is just and good! :) It's my highest honor to continue down the road paved before me by my forefathers! :)

How is it?
A simpler definition of a Freemason is a member of a fraternal and charitable organization of brotherhood, who goes through both private rituals and signs of mental and moral insight. He seeks unity of the world's people and to encourage people to treat each other as a valued family member regardless of race, colour, nationality, and/or religion. I hope that this helps explain to you what a Freemason is.
Why is there so much controversy surrounding Freemasonry?

quick questions for anyone what is the purpose for frremasonry? i know they say it's to make good men better but what can freemasonry teach a man about being a better person that he can't find in his bible? also if they have the tools to improve on a man's character why hoard it behind closed doors and not share it to make the world a better place? and lastly if it's not a religion nor a substitute and can't talk about religion why so many religious themes?
Despite all stuff I've heard about them, I love this video!! It taught me a lot
He left out the part where you have to swear secrecy, under penalty of murder and mutilation.
From Morals and Dogma, pg 819
"Part of the symbols are displayed there to the Initiate, but he is intentionally misled by false interpretations. It is not intended that he shall understand them; but it is intended that he shall IMAGINE he understands them. Their true explication is reserved for the Adepts, the Princes of Masonry. The whole body of the Royal and Sacerdotal Art was hidden so carefully, centuries since, in the High Degrees..."
So I know either you are lying (like ol' Ben Franklin up there) or are being lied to by someone you call Most Worshipful.
As it SHOULD be!
There has certainly been a lot of blood shed down through the ages by men who claimed to do so in the name of God. However, your blanket statement doesn't follow basic logic. The actions of some do not equate to the actions of all.

Square and compasses = divide & rule. Just a simple beginning.

Where can I find that poem at the end?
A great video, well done! ... It is a shame to see so much ignorance in many of the comments. It is truly sad to me that there is so much vested interest in remaining ignorant of the true beauty and potential of humanity. That people must ridicule that which they don't truly understand in defense of their own religion.Jesus himself was a rebel against the vested interests of the religion of his day. Freemasonry teaches tolerance and acceptance as well a encouraging its members to seek understanding of their true nature and to suggest that Freemasonry it is Satanistic or Luciferic is to show ignorance of their own VSL / Bible.
love the movie - can anyone tell me what the music is, please?
Freemasonry contradicts itself
By accepting other religions you can not be Christian that conflict with Christian beliefs. Freemasonry conflicts with Christianity. Sorry moe but your a pagan
You can't be a christian and accept others' beliefs. The illuminati has your balls with quite a grip
