How does a person become an electrician in Alberta? We asked an electrician in Edmonton, AB, who is a member of the Electrical Contractors Association of Alberta (ECAA) ecaa.ab.ca/
I'm from Ecuador. My family and I've just decided to start the journey to move to Canada and coincidentally to Alberta. I'm an English teacher but once there, I'm gonna do exactly what you've said here. Find a job with no experience, study along and love doing it in one of the best countries in the world. Yup. I graduated a month ago and called 13 companies. Only 1 gave me a job and it was just because they were working on a huge project that they needed an extra hand. Networking, its all about networking
@@FirstNameLastName-fu8ml yup! because the earth is overpopulated now theres hundreds of people looking for jobs. if you aren't going to show your invested in the trade you've picked and still expect to get paid for knowing nothing, gl with that.
I'm in Calgary and very recently decided I want to become an electrician. I was looking for any companies looking to bring on new members with little to no experience. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I think within the first year, you could get a job as an apprentice. I don’t know for sure, since I’m in the UK, so don’t take my advice as expert opinion. I’m literally just about to start a course for the domestic side of things and want to move on to commercial (shitting bricks lol). The first year course is broken down into 9 or 10 modules, I’ll take an extremely wild guess and assume over in the states/Canada you would call them semesters. From what I was told after finishing the second module, I could get a job as an apprentice. So again, wild guess, but you could probably do the same over there, not accounting for maybe different prerequisites (certain amount of hours having to be put in before hand, word of mouth, passing specific points of course completion). Whoever you’re with or being taken on by, you should ask them just to be certain.

I do t have time for this I need the money while I’m being an apprentice… these bills won’t take $15hr

I go to school for an electrician program for 18 weeks. Paid 6.8k. Now I'm almost done and gonna have interview for the company that I apply.

Very rare for this to happen these days, most want pre employment compelted since it means your somewhat invested and at least know basics.

Yes you can apprentice while you learn. Most electricians do that. It provides experience and some money to help stay in school.
