- The top concern I have for this new generation. This may just be enough to deal massive damage not just to G5, but even damage G4. Hopefully My Little Pony remains a great series for many more years to come.

Let's be honest. We've all heard the phrase "history repeats itself".
True, but if it's a fantasy TV show about magical ponies and friendship, I think most people are willing to suspend thier disbelief enough that it would be fine to have the title of ruler passed down a few times before Equestria falls, if only to keep from undermining the ending of G4.
Not everything has to be realistic to be good, and not everything that's fantasy should not have to try and create some level of realism. It's a tricky balance.
@@Star_Strike And G5 actually does have that balance!! In the end of the movie they get the magic back, and also there are new fantasy critters like Cloudpuff the flying pomeranian, the flying mice/rat and the armadillos with hair/mane😅🙂

I was willing to give the MLP staff the benefit of the doubt at first with Equestrian reverting, but after the explanation that MYM gave us, I’ve decided that the choice to make this a sequel to G4 was a huge mistake
I actually really like this idea. I see it more as no matter how much time passes and how many people forget about Twilight, she still had an impact on ponies lives, even if the environment they were raised in is an environment taught to fear the other pony races.

I recently learned that the word "Ancient" actually has a specific definition. A minimum of 1500 years.
Twilight's time is considered ancient Equestria. It could've been 4000 years ago for all we know. Plenty of time for civilization to change. Nothing about Equestria being divided now implies that it was during Twilights rain or that it ever happened in a span of time that could be described as "immediately".
This is assuming the writers also know what the word "Ancient" means. But the actual definition is a good thing to keep in mind.
As for when Equestria fell, we still don't know for certain, but it almost definitely involved he crystals, as they are what restores magic, and we see in the stained glass window, both the crystals, and twilight's cutie mark, indicating they at least existed and were part of a major historical event during twilight's rule.
@@Star_Strike Joining the three crystals didn't bring back magic, that was one of the plot points of the finale. It was bringing the three tribes together when they repaired the frame of that picture.
Edit: Also, I think most people have an intuitive understanding of ancient being at least that old. If anything, I think the common understanding of the word is even older, like the 2000 to 4000 years ago range.
@@crocoshark4097 It was them coming together that caused the crystals to bring back magic. The three pony kinds coming together did not directly cause the magic to be restored, but rather, them coming together activated the crystals which brought back magic.

I think what happened is realistic. Plus, it’s also thousands of years in the future. Some major event probably happened that caused not only the division of all pony kind, but also the loss of magic.

I think G5's situation is realistic since nothing in this world stays forever. The lessons the mane 6 taught to the pony kind must have been forgotten after all that time.
In real life history tends to repeat itselfe aswell when people do not learn from the past.
As you can see in G5 it feels like Onward level feeling at this point.

Same. I don't get why some people got mad at the fact that twilight's and values didn't last. Like- She's dead, and with time, everypony forgot about her morals. It's normal in real life too. We don't follow the romans's rules anymore, now do we?
Part of me wishes G5 was just a seperate universe. They could so much freedom to do what they want. And they could even have the activist uniting Equestria story. And they could have their own worldbuilding and rules and deconstruction of G4 tropes.
I think the leaks from the past about G5 were indicating that.
I think having it be in the same universe truly does put a big burden on the writers.
Now I still look forward to G5, for its own reasons but I still can't help but think they could've had a better starting point.
Also side note: I wish they would have shown more continuity with Season 9 by having Kirins or Dragons, to show there is true continuity not just harken back to the early seasons, the most recognizable part of G4. I hope they don't forget the other races. And also reference the later seasons and maybe just maybe base some material from the IDW comics
That being said I still look forward to G5. I love the characters and I even look forward to what the worldbuilding be like in spite of what I believe to be a rocky foundation.
I'd be cool if there were run down cities or abandoned villages. I can't help but think of breath of the wild where they had a bunch of cool abandoning buildings and things.
I guess just they just wanted to try something new and fresh as they have hard rebooted the franchise three times before gen 4 as the created three different universes before gen 4 it gets a bit repetitive if you keep creating ponies in new universe every time you have to reboot it regardless of new stories
@@werty21100 And beside that, G4 is very rich universe that lasted 10 years, the longest of generations. It's the main reason why they wanted to say with G4 universe in G5. And... Everyone still remembers G4, it's hard to delete it than the previous generations/
@@LukiKruki not to mention that G4 had so much lore and info that the developers couldn’t fit it all in one generation they had to split it into two parts with gen 4 being part one and gen 5 being part two also the world of equestria was so big and diverse that we couldn’t see all the places in equestria as well as the species such as diamond dogs, the breezies and to a lesser extent the Kirin didn’t have enough of a presence in gen 4 compared to the other equestrian races
P.S their also the anthropomorphic cat bird and hedgehog races that have barley any info on them outside the 2017 mlp movie
I personally just view it as a separate universe regardless with similar history but not the same. There have a few inconsistencies and I prefer that be the case so I can keep my personal headcanon for G4.

G5 feels like Onward due to fact everyone is focus on modernism.
I think hasbro got lazy and just wanted to make the 3d pony models. If the 3d movie had ALL THE RACES, that is a lot of 3d models.

Saying this after the fact, but, life shows that things can actually completely unravel within one or two generations. It wouldn't really take that long to lose the magic of friendship if it isn't kept in check.
Why I think G5 will be good….animation, characters and new territory, am I confused why everything twilight did was undone? yes but theirs probably a logical explanation in the movie and I know they’d all be back to friends again in the end…what about the other race creatures? that’s a story for another day….either that or a pony version of donald trump came along and thats how they went back to hating each other aka another part of real life accuracy in the show, but that’s just another dumb theory I mean come on a pony version of trump? ridiculous….just all bronies be patient and hasbro will probably give an explanation later….if not then woopy do do doo!!!! idk what to tell ya!
Even if there is a logical explanation, that doesn't mean it's a satisfying one. It can make perfect sense, but that alone doesn't mean it will be good because the audience can still be upset that everything was undone.
Also, I really hope they don't try to mirror modern day politics. Politics are divisive, and this is supposed to be a thing where we can put all our differences aside and come together to enjoy a show about magical pastel horses. As soon as politics are thrown in, you get a divide in the Fandom. In my opinion, that sort of divisive topic should stay out of 99% of movies and shows.
There IS a logical reason, New Story for new kids to enjoy MLP too, like we enjoyed G4

She may look like Luster, but I would say their characters are opposite given that sunny is eager to make friends, and Luster is not. (Before the final scene of G4 of course)

I think there are two possible explanation for G5's scenarios:
1) Twilight's ways have been lost in centuries, maybe millennia, maybe even more after she stepped down from the throne.
2) G5 is an alternative timeline. One where the main 6 failed in saving Equestria from Tirek, Cozy and Chrysalis, due to the young 6 and CMC being unable to convince the others to step up, forcing the ones in charge at the time to actually get rid of the magic all together in order to defeat the evil trio and the windigos as well. That would also explain why the three main groups went back to hate or fear each other and why we don't hear anything about the other creatures.
Normally I am not a fan of multiple timelines co-existing, but I really like this idea. If it is an alternate timeline, it doesn't undermine the ending of G4, because we still get to say that ending happened, and get a fun setting where the legion of doom succeeded. Plus, if this show ends up being bad, we can always just say it's another timeline, and not cannon to the timeline we know and love.
Although, there are still seemingly a bunch of world building questions that need to be answered, such as why cutie marks only appear on one side of a pony's flank, and how the day/night cycle works without magic.
@@Star_Strike i can only theorize about this, but i think the new nature of the world is directly linked to the spell used to cast away every form of magic. Since they knew that it was magic the cause of the day/night cycle, i think they could've easily used some artefact to made the cycle completely natural instead of relying on the princesses' magic. Maybe the original plan was to get rid of magic only for the time needed to deal with the legion of doom and the windigos and, after that, they would've used the chrystals to restore magic but, since they can only work if there's harmony, they ended up failing, the chrystals forgotten. Anyway, even if this is not an alternative timeline, I think G5's setting was bound to happen sooner or later (of course, when Twilight was no longer around)
I think we know the full story yet... something big must have happened, long after Twilight's reign, there's a lot of unanswered questions about G5 left in the movie and hopefully when those questions are answered there would be a decent pay-off to this, it would be pretty daft if they just ignored why the Ponies turned on each other or just handwaved it, perhaps what happened that led up to all this will be presented as a big mystery to be solved by Sunny & co during the series, building up to a big end of season reveal?
Perhaps, but it would have to be a pretty incredible story to justify taking away the ending of G4. Doesn't mean it can't be done, but I wouldn't bet on it.
@@Star_Strike I agree (A bit off-topic but I kind of wish I could write a multi-Gen MLP movie and introduce a hidden main villain I came up with called Mara, who's sort of secretly behind all the post G1 MLP villains & antagonists, etc by whispering in everyone's ears and manipulating them to further her evil plans before she can escape her dimension of nightmares)

That was actually my original stance on this too.
I thought they were all just scared, and not hateful. I even made an entire video about it. (It's a windigos video of you are interested).
But I have since realized that they are being taught to fear each other, but also hate one another as well. For example, there was an image released that showed foals destroying a pegasus pinata. To me, it looks like they are teaching hatred. There was a comment left on my windigos video that I pinned because it has a very long list of excellent points to show that they do indeed hate each other.
My questions:
What happend to the main six?
What happend to celestia and luna?
What happend to flurry heart?
What happend to equestria?
Where did twilight go wrong?
What happend to cantorlot castle? (Like did it get teared down or sum?)
My next video is actually going to be on the events between G4 and G5. I can't answer all the questions in that video alone, or else it would be half an hour or more, but I would guess that:
1. The main six died of old age,
2. Celestia and Luna gave up their magic, and therefore, their immortality,
3. Flurry Heart is not Immortal, so she likely dies of old age,
4. No clue where Twilight went wrong, but it may not have even been her fault. It's unclear what was the initial cause of division in Equestria,
5. I would guess Canterlot is in ruins and still sitting on the side of the mountain. I believe it has also been confirmed that Zephyr Heights is not Canterlot.

I think,just like how celestia gave twilight kingdom, twilight also gave her kingdom to her favourite top student'luster dawn'.
I guess that twilight gave equestria to luster dawn but after getting the crown and power luster dawn became evil and she kidnapped the mane 6 and told her subjects that they left equestria, and as you know luster dawn does not believe in friendship very much so she spread disharmony and seperated the 3 tribes.
And about other creatures I think luster dawn washed their brain too!
A way this could work..., is the lesson that history repeats itself, nothing is guaranteed forever and this is why both people should remember, and also cherish the sacrifices, the hard work, the blood spilled, etc etc etc that much more...because these things of acts of good..they're worth it no matter how short it may last. I agree that StarWars messed up...yes the Emporer coming back was a butt...but that also happened in the comics just in a different better way than what they did, a way that would be understandable. But this show did it hopefully in a way that made sense of this lesson...because thats probably the only way it could work...but that said what about all the other races of mlp...what happened to them? The kirins, Luna's Batponies, gryphons, etc etc..

When people learned the empire was returning it undermined Anakin's sacrifice in Episode 6
Dark Empire Trilogy: The Emperor came back to life in 1991! I undermined Anakin's sacrifice literal decades before the Mouse was involved!

Even then, Dark Empire does it much-better: The Emperor's final killer is someone who wouldn't even be there if Vader didn't strand them there in the first place; so Anakin indirectly gets him again, thus un-undermining the sacrifice. And it happens before any lasting damage is done to the Skywalkers, so they're able to span many more generations (e.g., the Legacy comics).
The Mouse's version? The Emperor is final-killed by -Kathleen Kennedy's self-insert- his own descendant, Anakin is little more than a mention, and the Emperor's bloodline outlasts the Skywalkers.

G5 cant compare itself to G4 it really made our childhood and now we forgot it like many cartoons we forgot i really want G4 and the Equestrian girls back it wont happen anyways.
I actually like the concept, especially since this seems to be at least a couple thousand years into the future, because it teaches another lesson that is important for kids (hell anyone) to learn, namely that nothing lasts forever. Just look at real world history: Over the past 4000 years, empires have risen & fallen, some leaving barely any trace other than a few words that linger in modern languages as an echo of their worst atrocities (e.g. Vandals, vandalism & vandalize are all that most people know of the Vandal tribe, who was once one of the biggest groups of conquerors that brought what was left of the Western Roman Empire to its knees).
Hell, just look at the recent rise of the Far Right, Anti-Vaccination & the Flat Earth Society to see just how quickly things can go to hell in a handbasket...

But wouldn’t you rather see the version of Equestria that the G4 finale promised? Wouldn’t it be so much more interesting to follow a story where Equestria has a vibrant mix of the different races, cultures, and magic systems we saw in the show than to see the same ‘three divided pony tribes’ plot line for, what, the third time now?
The point isn’t that it doesn’t make sense or that it would be impossible for things to go back to the way they used to be after who knows how long, the point is that it isn’t as interesting to go back to the same old things we’ve already seen as it is to explore something new. This isn’t real life, this is a story, and that means the world could’ve developed however the writers chose to develop it, and they chose to have it regress.
I honestly believe the reason why G5 is getting so much hate, is because unlike any of the previous generations of My Little Pony, it has ties and by ties I mean it's world and history are tied to a previous generation G4, and I feel since G4 was the only MLP generation that had so much lore in it's entire world of existence, mostly in part thanks to Lauren Faust who, as a little girl was playing with her G1, G2 & G3 Ponies while in her own mind she made up a grand story with the figures, and it was a great world being built in her little mind that eventually blossomed into something so grand it created MLP G4, everything was so epic, that not only girls but boys could relate to it as well as an older audience and that was not expected, the world had style, class, educational aspects, and most of all love and compassion, it was something unlike any of it's previous generations, and when someone creates anything, doesn't matter what, but if they create something with so much love and compassion that they want it to succeed it will because we as humans are inherently inclined to follow or like something that has been made with care because something made with care, love, compassion will always out perform something made under, laziness, greed, or hate, for example, would you rather buy a new car built with cheap parts that will need to be taken to a shop every month, or a car that will last your lifetime and then a lifetime of a child of yours? I and I am sure most of y'all would like that great lifetime car, however sadly such is not the case in our greedy society where they want money and they want it now regardless of quality so we as humans have stooped so low as to accept anything as long as it fits whatever role is required of it in our daily lives, and sadly that is what also created a road block for Hasbro, mostly because let's face it previous versions were kinda lame in many ways mostly because it was more of a way for a company to sell and profit off of toy's for girls, some dude said to a corporate board group, "ok let's make some pony toys for girls, and make big bucks off the parents", who cares about story, make them cute, make them sparkly, give them stripper names and the girls will eat them up". It worked, however they didn't expect Faust to make a story about the little ponies and create a world that would spread friendship for many and I mean many years to come, she worked with Hasbro and made the best generation happen. However that is also the rock in the road, due to the grand success of MLP G4 in comparison to previous generations we as humans now expect so much, and Lauren Faust is no longer with Hasbro on the pony front, so they have to come up with ways to make a new MLP world and they realized that they can't, because everything before G4 was not even on the same level, G4 is Epic Raid Boss tier, while everything else underneath it is Dungeon boss and World Quest building tier. So they decide we gotta make it sell so let's make it tied to the G4 world because that was such a success and we can build on it from there, using G4 lore and content, however most of us that like G4 were worried they would ruin it, because let's face it most things now a days are agenda biased slushies that ruin our fragile memories, however I thought it was great, I really liked it, I was set on disappointment, however was in awe, it was better then I expected, and I think Hasbro might be able to pull it off and make G5 Epic Raid tier level, as long as they keep that love and compassion that Faust had and build G5 with it, won't be perfect, nothing is, however I think it could become something to remember if they themselves remember to build it with care. As for the idea on friendship, well times change and with it so do friends and enemies, so it makes since the ponies would have to start from somewhere, and I expect we will learn how or why magic left, how many years have passed, are any of the other races still around, and whatever else we all may be thinking, they have a lot of lore to dive into and even more so to add, so let's wait and see, continue to hope they deliver each and every new episode of the show with dedicated love, care, & compassion. Sorry for the long winded post just wanted to let everyone know why I myself believe G5 was being crapped on by most folks, fan or otherwise, and that I myself indeed like it. Are you saying you think it's a prequel, or you wish it was a prequel? Because I can confirm it's not a prequel. There are a ton of references to G4 in this movie, and the technology has become more advanced, not less.

I really don't think it's going to be explained in the coming show tbh. I think they lead Bronies on in the marketing and the movie to make them believe the movie was for them so they would market the movie and buy the toys and spread awareness of the products, but really don't care that much about the lore or appeasing their adult fans. I know people want to desperately believe that this new generation is finally acknowledging us as a fan base but I really just think everyone got played. I mean compare the cast of Disney and Nickelodeon stars to the actual trained voice actors of the previous generation. I mean look at the modern lingo, makeovers, glow up. sparkle, smart phones, live streaming, selfie culture, they inserted into this new generation that is in every show geared towards little girls now a days. Also the child friendly and easy to pronounce/remember names like Izzy, Sunny, Pipp, Hitch, and Zipp. All the pop culture songs that relate to the younger generations. The fact that they just so happened to copy the two most popular characters with kids Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash for the new generations. I have no doubt that the writers who worked on the original show put a lot of effort into making the movie actually good, with the art and the humor and the nods to the previous generation but ultimately I think the coming show is going to be extremely simplified and made exclusively for kids, (which btw they know you have and probably showed this movie to). It was ALWAYS the plan to use the notoriety of the previous generation for marketing purposes as seen by early concept art of possible reboots. They're still selling G5 toy packs with the main six in them even though they showed up for like five seconds in the actual film for this exact reason, they're recognizable figures that sell toys. I don't know what the actual show is going to be like, I do know they kind of shoe horned in a lot of the past story for no real reason though and it doesn't really seamlessly fit like most people would like to believe. In fact most of it seems to actively go against the continuity the film is trying to establish. Why do ponies only have one cutie mark when the main six are seen having two in the movie? Why is anyone other then twilight even remembered when most ponies in Equestria never even recognized or cared for the other five? Why is princess Celestia mentioned but not by name?
Think about the first screen shot we got of this film. Sunny, adorned with mlp merchandise and mlp toys on her shelves, something they knew that adult fans of the show would go crazy over and would get them reinterested in the franchise. Think about the fact that source of all of the MLP;FIM references (The lighthouse) was destroyed at the end of the film as well as everything inside it. Think about how Argyle the pony who knows most about the previous generation mysteriously dies at the beginning of the film. Think about the fact that the main six aren't referenced at all after that except maybe when Zip looks at the wonder bolt poster and the symbol on Sunny's book that's not even mentioned to be twilight's cutie mark but instead is just a symbol that Zipp remembers seeing before. Yes they will most likely rebuild the light house but I really don't know that they are going to continue to reference the generation before when they really have no reason to, and go out of their way not to for the majority of the film. I think you've all been had by a clever marketing scheme to get sales and attention for the new show. They literally killed your self insert off at the beginning of the film and blew up your lore with a robot. I think the death of Argyle was us, the previous fans, dying off to make room for "a new generation" of younger fans. This might explain why even with all the references to the Brony community, not a scrap of fan merchandise was created for us, ( a thing the last generation did somewhat). Even with Hitch being a boy everything released is aggressively girly and pink and magenta.
Personally I really see the new show having very little content for adults and everything focused souly on kids. I wish I didn't see this as a real possibility but I do, but I'm hope I'm wrong. Even if I'm right I have no doubts people will still find things to like about the new show and some fans will still watch it. Again these are just my theories. we wont truly know until the show comes out next year.
You made a lot of good points, but I want to look at this from more than just a marketing and Hasbro Executive's position, and start looking at it from a writers position.
There are three kinds of writers out there: Bad writers who don't care whether or not what they make is good, and just want a paycheck,
Writers who think they're good, but are complete garbage *COUGH* Ryan Johnson *COUGH*
And writers who are actually good. These writers actually strive to create something that everyone can enjoy, and don't as easily fall prey to people who say to put no effort into thier work because it's going to be marketed towards kids.
This is what happened with Lauren Faust. Now, I honestly don't think Lauren is a very good writer, but she had a lot of good concepts, she just wasn't great at executing them. She DID however put together a team of writers she knew were competent and would put actual effort into the show.
For example, she didn't want the show to be girly, but the Hasbro executives insisted the characters be into fashion and dresses. So they compromised an made Rarity a fashion designer, which ended up coming into play a lot, but used as a strength in the stories, not a hindrance.
My point is: Even if the Hasbro Executives and marketers are targeting little girls and trying to bring in older fans, so long as there are good writers on the show, they will try thier best to create high quality content. We already know that there are at least a few good writers on the show, because the movie was pretty good. It might have some continuity issues, but hopefully they will be explained in the TV series. It may also be undermining the end of G4, but only time will tell.
Trust me, if this show ends up being bad, I will hold no punches when it comes to criticizing it.

Time is the enemy to nearly everything, but I can't help but feel the introduction of technology had something to do with it. When mankind first started using computers, it took decades for the first home-operated computers to become feasible. As they became more and more convenient, everyone was able to experiment with them and make innovations until today when technology is becoming obsolete and replaced every other month.
What I'm getting at is, G5 is already using Cellphones, this tells me that the timeline has skipped several generations. The monarchy of the princesses may have dissolved into a council. Instead of a single alicorn to rule them all, several alicorns rule; or even a U.N. of creature nations!
Effectively, time has torn the world apart!

It really did hurt when I saw that they made a new gen I mean I think making that movie ruined it all I already miss pinky pie,twilight,rainbow dash,flutter shy, and rarity 😕why couldn’t they just continue their stories because this isn’t the my little pony we used to know….
In my head cannon I don’t think Twilight actually existed. I think it’s just a story. I think the ponies who were United beforehand were different than our ponies.
Totally respect your reservations and I like what you said at the end. I for one don't mind at all what's being done with G5, so far. The film was good and I'm excited for the series. But on the other hoof the series needs to hit these notes just right in order to not only keep the continuity satisfying but to also enhance the film itself.
If it turns out that (hopefully sometime well after Twilight's reign) harmony slowly began to fade from Equestria because some villain divided ponykind, and perhaps the other creatures too, using some artifact or magic, I would be content if it's presented satisfactorily. In fact, wasn't there an item in the film that caused people in one of the Equestria Girls specials to lose their memories? I've yet to see the EG movie, but I've seen the artifact in question pointed out in the scene at the abandoned terminal at Zephyr Heights.
Another key thing for the series to handle, and the thing I'm most intrigued by; what became of Discord? Did he revert to his old ways after Fluttershy passed, did he just quit the world and ignore it's problems, or is slowly and indirectly pulling the strings to steer ponykind into making the right decisions again, as he did so often with the Mane 6?
So many questions to answer, and we can holy hope most of them are satisfying. But I'm optimistic.
I'm not sure if Discord would go back to his old ways after Fkuttershy passed away. That's not what she would have wanted. And Discord just dosen't have it in him to disrespect her like that (well, not after what happened with Tirek). He (either platonically or romantically) just loves her too much to do that.

It's unclear what happened after the events of G4, but I would like to believe there was a long time of peace and prosperity for Equestria.
What I think the new show writers are doing is saying there wasn't a long time of peace under Twilight, and Equestria fell and was divided.
Also, I believe Celestia ruled for 1112 years total. It's unclear how long Luna ruled for.
Ruin G4? Nothing can ever ruin G4 for me. Absolutely nothing.
I have chosen to ignore G5. After seeing it nicknamed Fascism is for ponies, I had no interest in another bungled attempt to retcon my universe and then to have it on Netflix who has done such a bad job of things like he-man and cowboy bebop, and the other he-man I just refuse to participate anymore.

Controversial opinion: they should have done G5 as a prequel, explaining the origins and worldbuilding of this universe. Maybe we would have gotten to meet the young versions of Celestia and Luna as children, and find out how they grew into leadership positions. Celestia honestly doesn’t get enough time to show who she really is outside of a few episodes. Imagine what seeing her and Luna without thousands of years of experience and respect behind them would be like?

I highly doubt Twilight chose a successor. If she did, I think there would be evidence of another ruler in her place, which there wasn't; we got several hits that Twilight was in charge. Something had to have happened to her.

if all twilight's main friends died, and luna and or cele were killed or turned to stone.. i could see twilight having a major breakdown. She's lost her friends and mentors before but nothing permanent.
Welp, now that the comic has basically confirmed Equestria did fall under/because of Twilight, it seems that G5 is just systematically dismantling the legacy of G4. Twilight making the gems makes her little better than a tyrant, and it seems that any short term progress she made as a ruler was undone completely within a few generations at most. Celestia should never have given up the throne after all, because her successor brought about the downfall of Equestria. It is rather infuriating that the writers of G5 have gone about undoing every bit of progress that G4 made, to the point where Equestria was the weakest it has ever been since before it's founding. Add to this the fact that in an interview they basically admitted that there was no plan in place to tie the generations together narratively and explain how we got from the end of G4 to this, and it shows just what a horrible short sighted decision it was to have G5's world be the future of G4.
I didn't cry for Tanks For Nothing! I was mad as Hell that Dash became an ecoterrorist, sabotaged her own tribe's weather factory and caused a never before seen flash blizzard that dumped 10ft of snow over an entire city and surrounding areas in seconds. The de@thtoll should have been in the thousands. Destruction would be absolute. And yet no consequences were had. I hate that episode with a burning passion.

I haven’t seen the movie yet(nor have I seen G4’s final few episodes, it’s covid related but w friend of mine and I watch the series together when we meet up and covid has made that not possible but that’ll change before the year is out). The way you put it though I think sounds good, it reminds me of hearing how the NCR in Fallout New Vegas was presented. They had one really strong leader but over time(and with every other leader that emerged) the ncr got weaker. I’ve got no right to say a thing but G5’s movie I think could have the ability to present a darker story if it had the nerve(but i haven’t seen reviews or anything so what do I know, I don’t want spoilers!) and maybe show how ponies squandered the legacy of the main 6 after their time.
Unfortunately, we don't get the answers we so desperately want. But, G4 Equestria is considered ancient Equestria so many many things could go wrong. Dissent is Unfortunately very easy to spread even in our world. Though it is more quickly spread in the pony world, which is established in G4. We just have to wait now.

I don't think Twilight make mistake or her student make that. We all know next generations can slowly degenerate or corrupt past time wisdom into simething toxic or total bullshit.
The history of G5 to me feels like feudal fragmentation or partitions of Equestria. The first happens by the testament of past ruler when they have bunch of kids. The second happens when the country is invaded by two or more foreign countries.
In truth I'm fully for the idea of "History Repeats Itself" as it is a Reality and it always happens, even today as many of us are continuing to use the phrase "And we have learned Nothing."
Which can be said for now Ancient Equestria. Friendships can be built and be made sturdy, but when something terrible happens and it can definitely cause a rift between us but the movie shows while that friendship had been broken by a event, it can be rebuilt and it takes everyone within it to work together and make it happen. Be willing to admit and forgive the past mistakes and start a new.
As far as we know, we don't know what happened before to cause the magic to disappear or even after. All we know is that the tribes are once again blaming each other for something and maybe even for the disappearance of magic. Rn all we have is that each tribe took a piece of the relic for their own and was later forgotten as time went on as facts, tall tales and rumors were becoming mixed up and change due to the hate the tribes had for each other like our own world history at one point.

I feel like the kingdom went into disarray after twilight's friends passed away. Whether twilight was still ruling at that time or not, she probably wouldn't have made another close bond with new ponies before a new threat came. That, or near the end of Twilight's rule, with no friends except spike, she became more like celestia and luna (ruling the country but keeping away from all of the threats) than the savior of equestria. someone else could have failed the country.
