      I live in Milwaukee. Holliday shot well in the Championship year and playoffs. The main issue was he was inconsistent the last 2 years. The other issue was Middleton was actually the 2nd option the championship winning year and it worked. With Jrue scoring well most times. But by Middleton being hurt last 2 years the pressure was on Middleton to score more consistently and he got exposed.

    Great breakdown! I've been saying that Jrue should work on his jump shot for years. Dame + Giannis will be terrifying. Hopefully, Dame give Giannis some shooting tips because those free throws are going to be brutal if he looks just as bad next season.

      Giannis will not need to even take them. You can’t hack a Giannis now. Giannis is a good passer and 7 foot. He’s the ideal person to inbound the ball. Just get it to dame and that’s it. Jrue wasn’t a reliable FT shooter in the playoffs either. The 2 ways teams beat Giannis, the wall and free throws, are not an option anymore.

    Dames offensive prowess cannot be overstated. He was getting Portland a top 5 offense every year playing next to Alfarouq aminu and Mario hejzonia. There was a stretch where Portland was the best offense in the league while cj was injured and *HASSAN WHITESIDE* was their second best player.
    He is the best iso guard in the NBA, the most points per possession off pick and rolls, averages 8 assists a game passing to complete bums like justice Winslow and Nurkic, and stretches defenses to the 3 point line. By every metric, he was the second best offensive player in the league behind Jokic and had a season that is just as good as Currys mvp season.
    Giannis can set a screen for dame at half court and instantly slip it and get 3 extra seconds every possession to just sprint at the basket. Literally an unstoppable offensive pairing.
    As for the defense, dame will surprise you. When he’s not being forced to average 40 ppg to drag the blazers to the 8th seed, he’s fine. Portland had a top 10 defense in 2019 and that was WITH Cj McCollum who’s even worse somehow. Dames already a good post defender for a guard, the effort will ratchet up when he’s not playing in bad defensive schemes and forced to do everything.
    Is he a good defender? No. Can he be serviceable in a good system? Yes. In 2019 his defensive wings were aminu, moe harkless, and Rodney hood. Swap them out for Middleton and Giannis with Lopez as the anchor, the bucks will have 0 issues on defense. Crowder is a good defender, beauchamp is a good defender, patty c plays with energy, etc. even if somehow that doesn’t cut it, there will be an army of ring chasers begging for a vet min and the chance to play their ass off on defense for a ring.

      As a Blazer fan, I'd add that part of why Dame can be low effort on defense is being tired from how much offensive load he's had to carry. He should be better defensively on the Bucks since he'll have less offensive responsibility and he'll have better defenders around him.
      He has also had good defensive plays over the years! He's not a bad post defender.

    Although Dame is obviously a better floor spacer than Holiday, using just this last year’s playoffs (which were poor for a majority of the Bucks roster in general) to show examples and statistics about Holiday’s 3pt shooting is simply not fair. Holiday was and still is a major upgrade from Bledsoe on the perimeter, so although I see why the comparisons were made I don’t think it is a very fair one. Holiday shot 39%, 41%, and 38.5% from 3 in his three years with Milwaukee. While again I totally understand your point about how massive the offensive upgrade is (specifically from a spacing standpoint), I think your analysis of Holiday as a floor spacer is harsh and fairly inaccurate.

    I dont think defense is gonna be an issue for Bucks. They have Brook who is runner up of Dpoy last year, Giannis who is former Dpoy alongside with Middleton, Bobby, Crowder who are great defenders with big sizes and ok defenders like Wesley, Pat vs.. Other than that Bucks used to play drop coverage for rim protection and that will be very important strategy to cover Dames defensive leaks. On the offensive end u show in the video how things gonna change when Dame is on perimeter. But imo more important than that how lethal Giannis-Dame duo is gonna be on picknrolls. Dame is the best picknroll provider guard with 1.16 points per position in last five years on entire Nba and he does that with a player like Nurkic. When u change Giannis with Nurkic things gonna dramatically change.

    There was NO OTHER guy to shoot for Bucks last 2 seasons. Giannis was playing alone, hence the injuries as well....Grayson had 1 good game every 5, Jrue, Pat and Kris were shooting bricks constantly...Do I need to remind people that for some games against Boston 22 we were shooting unguarded 3s 10%...On one game Giannis was our best shooter from 3 with 25%...Jesus. Only Jevon survived the process and averaged acceptably, BUT he was the 3rd option of shooters. Dame is gonna space the floor, he is gonna give Giannis and Kris space to work, open shots and easier offence. We are good on defence without Jrue, we have Jae and Jevon is a pest as well...Brook, Giannis, Dame, Jae, Kris sounds scary....So does Brook, Giannis, Dame, Jevon, Booby.....And YES Dame is not a good defender, but he aint James Harden as well...He will get there. And if he keep Giannis more relaxed in offence, we will benefit from Giannis having more in the tank for dense as well.

  • @ThePasterio
    @ThePasterio Рік тому

    This breakdown failed to mention howcJrue shot well The Championship winning year. Why. Because of a healthy Middleton. Jrue was most times the 3rd option and shit well most times. Niw, the last 2 seasons Middleton being hurt, the pressure increased on Jrue to shoot more and be the 2nd option as you see in this clip. So, the pressure increased on Jrue with no Middleton and Hrue simply got exposed for inconsistent shooting. Especially last season and the playoffs.

    With regard to the question at 2:50: This was towards the end of the game. Be sure that Giannis - once he takes his big steps - is most likely going to try to finish himself. So Martin tries to disturb him as much as he can. Probably didn't think about it twice, probably didn't think about who was at the three point line. Giannis is also not known for his Magic-like passing skills. So what gamble do you instinctively take in this situation?
    And don't forget, this is still Jrue Holiday. He has a ring, he can drill these shots, he's certrainly not a choker. You don't wanna leave him any more open than Dame in this situation.

    • @Alran109
      @Alran109 Рік тому +4

      And yet it's clear teams were pretty comfortable leaving him open enough to shoot while lightly contesting. They knew he was a poor postseason shooter.
