You missed the bleeding procedure for this job.
    - Ignition on
    - Heat set to max and blower speed to lowest
    - Full throttle for 10 seconds
    - Water pump starts bleed cycle varying if speed for about 15 mins

Actually the video is spot on other than one important piece of information. This being an electric water pump there is a coolant bleeding process that has to be completed or you will 100% have continued air pockets in your coolant system ask anyone that regularly works on newer style electric water pump bmws. Just look up bmw 3 series electric water pump coolant bleeding here on UA-cam it’s super simple and requires no scan tool

Thank you for the great and helpful video! The time and work it takes to make these isn't as simple as we often assume it is when watching them. On a side note FYI they didn't actually make the 335 models in 2006 only the 325i 330Ci 320I etc. But not the turbo model until 2007.

I can’t tell if my water pump is going bad. I just replaced my alternator and my battery died and you know how it goes with bmws once one thing breaks more start breaking. My car isn’t over heating but, pushing it slightly Brings oil temps to 255ish. I tried bleeding/ testing my pump and it doesn’t seem to squirt water or make noise as it did before.

I have a 2011 328i AWD and having issues with coolant temp/overheating. The water pump does not kick on, and it overheats. If I reset the water pump by pulling the fuse and plugging it back it works fine for a while, but it again stops working after a 100 miles or so. Any idea what it could be? Do I need to replace the pump and thermostat?

When I turn it off and back on for about 20 mins, it drives and then the speed drops and it stops. Any idea if it’s the thermostat or the water pump ? Thanks

Just picked up an 08 335i and service records show pump was replaced
12,000 miles ago. Took it to the dealer for some recall work and they
recommended a new pump. I can see that is it slowly dripping coolant. My
question is it possible that it could just be a loose or worn hose that
is connected to the water pump itself that is causing the leak? Does
anyone know where the weep hole is located on the pump itself so I can
see if it is in fact leaking from the pump? Any feedback is greatly
    appreciated.

You can look at the date code on the water pump after removal, If it was the original pump the BMW logo would be on the pump, A lot of people and shops use pierburg pumps and some shops get them from the BMW dealer, You can also use Carfax and other services to find the maintenance history.

question should I need to change it and spend the 1000 dls on the parts plus my labor to change? Will be this be a sign that sooner is going to fail? Thanks for the feedback

Great tutorial. Those two clip on hoses from thermostat are quite difficult to pull and push in. Use a bit of silicone grease or light spray on the rubber o-ring made it easier to push in. Doable but PITA.

    I am not a machinist, but I am a Auto Mech..Automotive Technician.
I would like to point out that when referring to fastener size you are to refer to the Diameter of the fastener ID or OD, NOT the size of the of the tool to tighten said fastener. Using torque specs and using the "Wrench size" for torque will result in over torque and possibly (in my case when i was 13) Snapping head bolts on my RD350.
Other than that I like your technique and will remember this for monday when i have to do a WP on a 335i.

Anybody that's watching this or you have an xi model they always tell you got to lift the motor you can get in there with a quarter inch Drive wobbly socket 6-point instead of a Torx socket you can use a 10 mm but 3/8 fits tighter there's always a way around these stupid bolts on these BMWs also works when you're dealing with the upper housing coolant leak

Thanks for excellent video. I really want to get the alum bolt torquing correct. I follow what you indicate, but watched another very good video with a similar torque recommendation but they did not follow with the additional quarter turn. I have also noticed that there may have been a change on the pump not to include the rubber isolators in the three bolt holes. Not sure if the one you used has those isolators or not. I am wondering if that may have something to do with whether to apply that additional 1/4 bolt turn. Can you provide any additional guidance?

These cars and everything BMW makes is utter shit. I've been a master tech and an automotive designer and engineer for over 10 years and I've never such terrible design and engineering. I've replaced the water pump and thermostat on my stock 2007 335i with less than 60k miles 3 times in 2 years! It's not like these parts are cheap and there's no reason for them failing so often other than these krauts in Germany are stubborn as shit and don't understand proper engineering or design. I worked for Bosch automotive design and Germans were the worst people I've ever dealt with. They don't understand how to take feedback or listen to their customer base. German cars are nothing but pure garbage!

    thanks for that video. I had the orange temp light come on followed by the red warning light, it went into limp mode and shut off. I checked the motor it was not even that hot. I started it about 30 seconds after and it was fine, drove it home about 30 kms, no warning light, normal temp, no issues. My questions are;
    1. could that be a water pump/thermostat issue?
    2. If you have no codes and you remove the pump/thermostat for replacement, will you still need to attach a diagnostic scanner, as its a new pump/thermostat?
