- Watch LNER A4 4498 Sir Nigel Gresley haul it's first passenger services in a number of years at the Severn Valley Railway on 21st April 2022.
See the locomotive leaving the sidings in Bridgnorth to be prepared for the 10:25 departure to Kidderminster, making a cautious re-start to life in passenger service.
Great to see this stunning hauling Teak LNER stock again - Please subscribe for more content soon.
Thanks for watching.

First time I saw the Gresley in action was at Shildon 2013. I entered the site at the opposite end to the museum, down a back alley, and it drove past right in front of me. My legs went to jelly like I had just bumped into the Beatles! 👏👏👏
Sir Nigel looks great in that black livery.
Gem of a capture and priceless footage. Many thanks for sharing this ☺️
Endorse all the other comments on the great video work. Loved it, all the way from Australia.
Thanks Ian.. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Simply brilliant. Thanks for the posting. Nice spring day too !
Fantastic. Had a visit today myself, great day 👍
That was absolutely Timeless. A scene reminiscent of the 1930's that was some fantastic camera work.
and its matched authentically with all the racism Britain had back then too...
Absolutely pure Heaven! Thank you SO much!
Thanks for watching 👍
What a video! Brilliant.
Thanks - Glad you liked it 👍
I came here today Saturday 23rd of April and I’ve finally captured that loco after 7 years looking for it
First saw Sir Nigel Gresley in 1968 or 1969 on shed at March (Cambridgeshire) when she was one of a tiny number of engines still running on the mainline!
Agree with Joy, priceless footage.
Superb footage thank you.
sir nigel gresley is back on the rails once again :)
Nice shot!
I was riding behind her today on the first train back in service
What a noise
I am going tomorrow
Enjoy! 🚂👌
my first steam engine is north Eastern black Flying Scotsman
Takes me back to Top Shed in the 1950's
Great to her back in action again
Brilliant ! Thank you so much for filming and editing, took me back 35 years when i used to help out on P Way,
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
What a dreadful shame to see a magnificent machine limited to shunting speeds. I hope it gets out on the main lines soon.
oh yes, a shame to see a recently overhauled machine being worn in slowly without risk of damage. You're a fool.
Nigel looks great, I'm glad to see Nigel back in working order but I definitely do think he looks better in his dark green livery.
Unfortunately the loco will be in BR Woodlouse livery after the visit to Crewe for repainting...
welcome back Sir Nigel Gresley!!
Another fantastic video .
Thanks 👍
Very good video :)
Superb pictures, this loco could possibly have been the fastest A4, when you listen to top link LNER DRIVERS, they rode well at speed too.
Should I feel guilty for missing and unable to see the Mallard A4 anniversary events in 2013 and 2014 because of a lot of family and job commitments, my graduation in Southampton and a art exhibition in London and I live too far away from York and Durham? I do not visit York every year! I had to build up money and visited Montreal Canada 🇨🇦 to see 4489 Dominion and visited Green Bay via Chicago in the USA 🇺🇸 to see 60008 Dwight D Eisenhower. I never seen them in 13 and 14!.
cool upload my friend 👍
Thanks - Hope you’re keeping well 👍
最高だ!
6 beats to the bar
Is the goal to get her mainline certified ? - be great seeing her at the head of a few specials
Wonderful sound and vision. I have only just noticed that none of the UK steam locos have large headlights, like they did in AUS., did none of your steam locos run at night ?
Yes they did run at night but had no headlights.
Old grandfather crawls slowly...
Grandfather is up to speed now though 👍
0:05 What kind of purple is that ?, also I’ve never seen a engine painted in purple
Not sure on the exact name for it however it sure stands out and is proving to be a good PR stunt for them.
I think it's 'Royal purple' for the Queen's up coming Platinum Jubilee.
60007 Sir Nigel Gresley came back to severn valley railway since late 2000’s for 13 years
It's a pity that this locomotive lost its nice blue colour.
It will be back soon 👌👍
@@trainsplanes Thank You, that will be fine. ❤️
Wonderful to see 4498 on the cabside and the magical 'LNER' on the tender. Even wartime black is better than any of the BR liveries. Obviously Garter Blue (with valances) tops the list though 🙂
@@paulcaswell2813 Agreed. Although a temporary bout in "1948 experimental BR 'Ultramarine' with grey, straw and red lining out" would be a real treat.
but not on main line ...
Won’t be long for an outing on the mainline now 👍
Gosh a purple coloured steam engine! Who is this ridiculous colour in aid of? Woke gang?
Hi, it was re-painted purple for the Queen's Jubilee in June.
