Sea Raptor!!! What a fantastic video here - I always enjoy your videos!! I wanted to improve my game play on the Mahan - after I watched this video I improved my ability to kill airplanes and AA - your insight helped me understsnd how to play this boat - This format is something that is missing in many CC’s videos - thanks this video helped a lot I look forward to seeing more of this!!!
Dude! I really appreciate your AA lessons, as a Pan Euro player (Oland my fav, 2,200 games in her) it's great to see you acknowledge AA screening your teammates as well as "every AA related mention here". Benson, Lightning and Oland are my favorites to play simply for their maneuverability/Dodginess and their difficult to hit smaller size that becomes a lost thing in higher tier DDs. I'll take those 3 over the higher tier DDs in a tier 10 game any day. Fletcher is damn dodgy too to so... (exception). I successfully play open water in these mentioned DDs, kinda my thing! That Visby player didn't have a clue of Visbys' strengths: Speed, insane agility and 900mps shell velocity: a supreme "dodgy" kite fighter: it has few other strengths! Great lessons here... Thank You! Dutch_Tiger N/A
I am loving these videos. I am coming from your Yorck video where you explained the applications of Light Cruisers vs Heavy Cruisers, which was very helpful. I would love to see a Learn to Play video on Battleships (German, if possible) that explains the uses of Battleships vs Battlecruisers and general BB tips. Cheers 😁
Hi Raptor, really appreciating the depth of these vids, a lot of effort on your part - thanks. One point I'd like to make, and it may be a difference between US and EU servers - I only see CVs about one game in 3, unless there are missions for CVs going on or a new CV line is out. And subs are now even rarer than that, in a dozen battles yesterday I saw 3 subs, and 2 of them were in a division. So less than 20% battles have subs and 33% have CVs [or maybe I am just lucky]. So however good anti-air or anti sub skills may be, I see no point using skills or upgrades to counter rare enemies when there are DDs in virtually every battle, so long story short RPF is for me a top skill. Keep it up dude, respect from France ps. if you ever want to know how to pronounce French ships' names properly hit me up.
Hey SeaRaptor! I am really looking forward to this series and wait on every new installment. What I have noticed in this "Learn to Play" series is that you are showcasing a ship with a 21-point Commander, and the stats you're showing are not equivalent to the audience that I believe you are directing your efforts at. I would suggest showcasing these boats and their stats with a 10-Point Commander, and provide advice on how to progress through the Commander skills to maximize the potential of this ship. Great work as always Sir!
When I talk about commander skills for Nicholas and Farragut, I make that distinction. For me, the first 10 points for any default destroyer should always be Preventative Maintenance, Last Stand, Survivability Expert, and Concealment Expert. Most times I will pick up Adrenaline Rush after that, then tailor the remaining points to what I think are the ship's strengths.
One thing I'll point out when dealing with planes in a destroyer. If you see bombers coming and you're in smoke stop shooting constantly. Or at the very least don't hold still. These are some of the easiest kills a carrier can get and many can 1 shot you
If i can suggest, taking demo expert is good for me and some other ppl cause of the increased fire chances, Subs dont last either. Taking demo for your DCs removes the need for 4 charges since it kills them in one
It's not a bad call, to be sure. I mean, the American depth charges hit hard enough that you generally only have to catch them with a few either way, and I like the idea of increasing the radius that can occur at. I just don't like having so few bombs in a stick. To me, it's a deficiency of the ship, so I want more sticks to drop. That's a personal choice.
I play a little different I like to run in front of a bigger teammate and once spotted I use the 2 min smoke to cover them then double back after launching torps and firing guns like mad...then wade in with the bigger ships and targeting any to set as many fires as possible
I have no idea how you don't take a torp that is BARELY behind your aft turret???🤔This must be a special bonus captain skill for CCs, huh? I've never seen that happen except with DW torps.
Two possibilities: a little bit of server desync - it does happen occasionally - the torpedo was running deep enough that it passed just under the turn of the hull where my propeller shafts pop out.
Definitely liking the concept of this 'How to Play' series. Hopefully it is successful enough to branch out to other tech tree lines. Nice work 👍

You are most welcome, I'm glad it helped! I love this line of ships, more people enjoying them makes me happy.

Again a very good UA-cam video!
Thank you for uploading and sharing this series!
All the best Sir.

I'd suck a dick for a german battleship video
Great Learn to Play video. I hope too more. Great job!

They seem to have nerfed the torpedo range to 6.4km, which disallows stealth torping now. They have buffed the speed to 64kt base speed.
The stock torps are 6.4, the upgraded ones are 9.2.
i love my mahan, best ship a float, only thing that comes close,Fletcher and Kidd, mahan bad ass oh yeah

how the torpedo didnt hit you ? XD
If the hull isn't deep enough in the water where the torpedo would "impact" your hull, it's a miss. Could also have been desync (server issue).
pronounced may han
We're actually both wrong, it's "muh-han" according to the NWC (where he was president a few times, so I have to trust them on it).
