Good to see all you tall people finally get a beginner adv bike. Seems fair. Also, that bike's center of gravity is very low, which means a shorter rider can easily lean the bike an inch or two, grab some moto boots that have an inch and half sole. Seat height equals 33.62 - 2 inches - 1.5 inches = 30.12 That not even considering a lower seat, or a lowering kit. This bike was made for everyone. Experience on the bike is what you need.
I just received my 2023 Expedition and I am 6' even - 33" inseam. I barely can touch on the new EXP. It's a keeper - but I really hafta think about when I stop. BTW : G R E A T B I K E
I think that it’s the best adventure bike on the market, unfortunately i’m 5” 6’ and it’s very tall for me also with optional low seat at 840 mm from the ground!! I don’t consider the low kit with suspension and side stand . Thanks for your time and video!
grab some 1.5 inch boots, lean the bike (extremely low center of gravity) about an inch or two this will easily put you flat footing on the side you lean. All of this not even considering a lowering kit or seat. You will be fine, experience on the bike is the solution not inseam.
My wife was the one trying the seat in the low position. She was pretty uncomfortable with the height of the bike and balancing it on her toes. She is not a motorcycle rider but does ride a Vespa scooter on occasion and has her motorcycle license. For me it is super easy to reach the ground with the seat in the low position but when I put my feet on the pegs I feel like me knees are bent too much and a bit cramped. That's why I like the higher position. I usually ride in a flexible boot like a tactical boot or hiking leather boot. I tried a low motorcycle adventure boot and was surprised by how uncomfortable they were when it came to down shifting. I had to lift my leg to get the boot toe above the shifter to push it down. No ankle flex. I prefer a boot with ankle flex and that I can get off the bike and walk/hike in too.
how is the peg to seat height ergonomics? I am definitely tall enough. But many TALL bikes still have cramped seat peg to seat height ergos. Heck quite a few have waaay too cramped peg to brake distance and peg to shifter distance making shifting awkward as you have to contort your foot oddly to shift also makes shifting more of a move your whole leg up rather than a simple ankle flip. (size 12 boot btw). Same goes for braking... Thanks On my old DL1000 I would occasionally get cramps due to its tight ergos unless I pushed myself way back on the seat which felt weird and felt like i had less control as well. wasn't a problem on ALL my various Xrs & DRs. and even my KZ.. was a big problem on my KLR so much so that pretty much every up shift from 1st was a missed shift due to me having to basically wedge my foot between the peg and shifter at an odd angle.. The KLR clunky trans didn't help..
I feel like lowering pegs would definitely help. For my 32 inch inseam. It is slightly cramped feeling and more so if wearing my outer riding pants that bunch up behind the knee.

Actually your weight makes a big difference since it makes the suspension compress a bit from full length. Could you say how tall you both are to compare?
@@nordenamerica ....and she was wearing tennis shoes, good boots (decent heal) and she is planted. Great video, most don't even tell you their inseam, they just say how tall they are, which is a bit broad. This was excellent.
6'5" here. Really am intrigued by the bike. Don't want to spend the money for a 1290 SAR so this one caught my eye. Have not so great knees so I was wondering how deep the knee bend was. Have ridden Africa Twins and they are fine. Just can't find a Norden close to go sit on. They keep getting snatched up.
@@thepaxtonsrock I think you will need to set on one. My inseam is only 32” so my legs aren’t too long. It’s comfortable to me but I think lower pegs wouldn’t hurt.
The general misconception - also seen in this video - is that both feet need to be on the ground. It's actually MUCH more stable to get only one foot (almost) flat on the ground than trying to balance a heavy bike on both toes. Get used to ove your a... to one side if you are a short guy like me (74cm inseam) and set ONE foot down - you will notice how much more stable this is!
I am same height and size as you and am wondering what you think of the high pegs. I haven't sat on one yet but ready to put down a deposit and was wondering if with lowered pegs and bar risers will it have a good standing position for off road or will you be too bent over ?
I have bad knees so I stand up as little as possible I think the position is comfortable as is but would be even more comfortable with lowered pegs. I really love the softer suspension of the bike. It's a very good ride and riding off road feels more effortless to me that other bikes.
@@nordenamerica OHH ? GOOD TO HEAR , That was the 1 thing i was concerned with, if i could have got one with the upgraded "R" models explorer suspension i would have
Clearly your wife is very light. If she was anywhere near the standard American wife weight - she would be able to flatfoot with no prolem! (PS - its a JOKE - dont get mad)
Because I am tall and I fit with it in the high seat position. I wanted to show the two extremes so I found someone shorter to try the low seat position
@@nordenamerica I understand but still would have shown that you could or not plant your feet better without having to move forward in the seat. I'm tall too at 6' 2" but like my feet flat, better control etc without having to think about kissing the tank with my privates...

Possibly the most beautiful garage I have ever seen

Nice video however it would have been helpful to have you give your impressions with the seat in the low setting.

Yes, with 35-inch inseams, I need to lower my ft pegs on my 901 expedition
