This game has a lot of promise! The art is really nice and the music is enjoyable. The level design just needs a little work so you can tell where you're supposed to go. It was fun to see Sonic play through it, and I admit it's amusing to see him slowly lose his cool while playing.
They should add in a step sound effect to make it accurate. Maybe make the jump little bit higher while also giving it a gravity like getting down lower slowly kinda like the Sonic CD Cutscene, and make sonic do those tricks he did aswell like wall jumping mountains and stuff! :D

Sonic Freedom is an amazing fan-game!
Edit: The move you use to launch yourself is called the Bullet Dash. It can be used once, but hitting an enemy or landing on a solid platform allows you to use it again. Think of it as a Homing Attack you can aim.

I mean- isnt 8-bit kind of still.. handrawn? I mean, they used examples handrawn, and 8-bit is hard to master,kinda and sonic cd has some handrawn sprites in opening and ending

Yeah so about that ability to spin in the air.
It's called a bullet dash, it's how you get to the end of the level by hitting the badniks at the end individually lol.
Sonic, this really needs to become an official video game to be played by all your fans around the world! The graphics are very superb and it really looks like the classic first game and Sonic Mania, but even better than before. It just needs have all those goofy glitches fixed, and make a really great story with voice acting and character dialogue at the bottom of the screen in every segment before and after playing a level like it’s a cutscene. And let’s not forget about Tails, Knuckles, and others as playables and newer boss fights with Dr. Eggman, his mechs, and robotic creations.
Not only is the animation high-quality, Sonic doesn't lag when you start playing, like he did in the original games.
I'm impressed.

This game is a free run practically, you have to find the goal, it’s not towards left or right I’m pretty sure it’s in the middle somewhere
I'm no Game Developer, but I think the creator should not just work on the little Glitches, but also like another Moves for some scenarios, like when you want to be up, sonic should be given a Wall jump or maybe a little climb Move, a Homing attack but instead of repeatingly pressing the buttons to get 3 Badniks, you hold it, select 3, and Sonic will Spindash 3 of em automatically and it also should be optional, like you hold it and point it yourself and you can do that Spindash Dash attack, also a Button to stop Sonic from running or slipping, ect. While doing that, the creator should also give the Players a Tutorial Guide to show you how the functions work.
he actually is working on all of that, wall jumping, parkour, even WATER PARKOUR where sonic slaps the water to keep himself afloat!

It is different from other sonic games because it isn’t a game where you go from point a to point b and the health system is different. I don’t remember much info but go watch “Where does 2D sonic go from here” video and watch the end bit for info about this game. Anyway love ya vids and cannot wait for future uploads.
