So there was some confusion on my description of the OBJ player. Like I said in the video, the OBJ player isn't like the past. Usually the OBJ player will only have 20-30 seconds more time than any other player on the team. I should've specifically mentioned more specification for it. But when a team is rotating for a new hardpoint and setting up on hill, there is a designated player (the OBJ) who is expected to be the player in the hill while the 4 other players are pushed up the map establishing map control (this may change for a team depending on the map). So a player is absolutely given that "role" but it isn't as prevalent as a role as the other 4 (Entry, Slayer, Main AR, and Route man), and like I said in the video, the roles are very fluid, if one role goes down, the next man needs to step up to fill that role. Similarly, there were some questions regarding being a flex..etc. The flex isn't a role. It's just a gun preference. The terms main sub, flex, or AR are just which weapon you prefer to use. So a main sub would usually be the entry player or the slayer. A team will have 2 or even 3 "main subs. Then either 2 or 3 flexes (using either an MP5 or an M4 depending on the map/mode) then 1 "main AR" (only using M4 on all maps). In past games flex and ar would be synonyms for roles of slayer or main ar..etc. But in this game, that's not the case as the gamemodes and play styles evolve. I just wanted to clarify that if there was any confusion. Thanks for watching! :)
As a CS:GO player, this video was very clear and makes it very easy to compare/contrast the roles of the two games, it also helps to translate the different skill-sets over to COD. Great content
Sadly when you play with “randoms” on cdl there is a high likely hood you’ll be playing against a squad, and I’m pretty sure we all know how that goes(you get RAN LIKE A TRUCK) . Especially if you try to play a specific roll. I usually try to play as a slayer, but when no one try’s to play OBJ, I then have to swap, but at that point I don’t have a trophy bc I run dead silence and get naded out the hill. Hopefully if they add ranked, and if I get to higher tier within it, Then playing solo que won’t so exhausting. (I’m not saying im amazing at the game btw, just saying it would be more enjoyable if they added a ranked list instead of just cdl)
That’s exactly what I do. Not amazing but in objective games I’ll be lucky not having to do all of the work. Slaying and eventually played the obj for the clutch.
Primary1_ if im ever in a squad of random players with no mics I do a mid push even in search. My aim is heavily fatal and I often play like a slayer anyways but that mid push I have is dirty like 16 and 3 on CDL search and destroy dirty😂
Hey man! I love these vids. I haven't touched competitive Call of Duty since Black Ops 2 and we all know those were the good ol' days. Anyways, it's nice to learn more through you. Keep it up.
Love these vids. I think I can speak for a lot of people out there when I say that you have old casual players looking to figure out what the hell they're doing to train into competitive play

Great content. I was wondering if you’d be open to the idea of watching subscribers send you their gameplay and you walkthrough what they do right and wrong. I feel like that would help. I know JGod is a youtuber that has done it but I would like to see your breakdowns of other people. Great content keep it up bro
Phat notification bell this was so useful like coming up from from bo2 all the way ww2 then a very long break coming back to mw the roles and calls changed over time i was so lost thank you
Also with SnD would the sniper be an actual role since they watch crosses where applicable, or is that a team and map specific thing because of too many exceptions?
I feel like the OBJ player is fading away like the anchor player did. Usually every player has about 50+ seconds of Hill time in Hardpoint. The only time they don’t is when the team just tells them to slay (EX. Simp on Cave, or Envoy on St. Petrograd)
Hey man, it would be good of you gave a couple example players for people other than route men so that we can keep an eye on them at the next event or whatever. Great vid as always bro👍🏼
Have you ever thought of breaking down of the pro league games? For example the most recent tournament, even if its just SND but would love to see all three.
What do you think the second respawn mode should be?? I like dom but I think they should add a timer stop if there is a triple cap in order to make comebacks possible, or if the enemy team holds no flags (2 cap and a neutral). Personally tho Uplink was my favorite for sure. AW was so exciting to watch uplink, and even WW2 had some dope games with uplink
Thanks for the info, great video, I’m new to watching CDL and I love it. Can you help me out with something, where can I go to find a list of the team rosters with their assigned roles. What site is best for cdl stats, thank you.
I miss the days of Scump being the face of OpTic. Now they just turned it into a Overwatch-esque pro scene. The popular orgs are really pro orgs anymore.
Kobe B it’s just because it’s not the most effective way to use the player any more. Now a days, the whole position position themselves in a way to guarantee that they have spawns
There’s a different spawning system. There’s squad spawns now so having one person sitting holding that spawn doesn’t work anymore because your teammates are more likely to spawn somewhere further up on the map
I can play fast and slow, I’m good at slaying out with an smg but when I’m using an AR I sit back and hold down angles, I use the xm4 and the 74u, when I use a SMG I like to push mid and go for flanks but I also sit on objective when no one else is, when I use an AR I like to hold line of sights and defend the person on the obj, I have pretty good reactions with good decision making (I know when to rotate and when to flank or push), can someone help me with determining my role
I mainly agree, but slightly disagree with some of the classifications: 1) Main AR: Simple, play slow, hold lanes, usually is the one sitting in hardpoints & always uses an AR (Ex: Octane) 2) Slayer: You hit the nail on the head, the team will have two players in this role, generally the second player is their "flex" in terms of weaponry. (Ex: Simp/GodRx) 3) Entry man: Like you said, simple, always first in, initiates contact, always uses SMG. (Ex: Abezy) 4) Rotator: Doesn't play for kills per se, fights for spawns, usually runs smokes (Ex: Envoy) I've said this before, but I don't think there's any such thing as an "OBJ" or "Support" player anymore, everyone basically fits into these 4 categories. Also, roles are fluid (except for the main AR). on almost every map one individual player can flip between as many as 3 of these roles.
Yeah I mean that's basically exactly what I said lol but there definitely still is an OBJ player. I'll make a pinned comment to address the specification. 😊
because teams need the spawns they get a lot importance. thus both teams will try hard to keep the better spawns and stop the rotation. makes it very competetive
One thing that gets on my nerves is people not playing the obj, but still getting a terrible KDR. Like what’s the point of you not playing the obj if you’re gonna suck anyways
Yes it is normal, I was a slayer in bo4 but I'm an obj/route man on my squad in MW and I usually have less engagements than my teammates if they're doing their job well. But there are many times during the match that I must step up and slay for a bit so it evens out lol
the flex isn't a role. It's just a gun preference. The terms main sub, Flex, or main AR are just which weapon you prefer to use. So a main sub would usually be the entry player or the slayer. A team will have 2 or even 3 "main subs. Then either 2 or 3 flexes (using either an MP5 or an M4 depending on the map) then 1 "main AR" (only using M4 on all maps)
I noticed when progamers challenge each other. Most of them are always 1 kd ratio. That's how you know when it's a fair fight kids. It's not always about kd. The pros look at elite level skills more than KD ratio.

Leave it to video game kids to come up with names for roles US special forces designated 20-30 years ago. I have no clue how I got to this video but you basically said everybody on the team is a "Slayer" at one point of the video or another, which I don't understand but hey. "Main AR" is so vague I don't understand how thats a role... I truly hope this "professional gamer" trend ends...doubt it will but one can hope. I'm an obj, but I think you forgot the sniper. The sniper lowers the amount of enemy troops that can take the hill. Good for big maps

I miss the days of Scump being the face of OpTic. Now they just turned it into a Overwatch-esque pro scene. The popular orgs are really pro orgs anymore.
there is no dedicated OBJ or Slayer in 2020, maybe im wrong, but there definitely wasnt on bo4 and it doesnt feel like its changed that drastically
Why has the anchor become less common? I played anchor back in Bo2 but I didnt know anchor has faded out in this current cod

route man / slayer.

the flex isn't a role. It's just a gun preference. The terms main sub, Flex, or main AR are just which weapon you prefer to use. So a main sub would usually be the entry player or the slayer.
