Wow! I can't believe it. I stumbled across this. I marched with LHS in the mid 1980s. I remember us getting new uniforms and Mr. Hopkins as the main band director. To think how much fun and hard work it was. I'll never forget those years in band. I can't believe now my hometown band is still doing great things. Though I live 1200 miles away in another state this lion still roars with pride for the new kids in the LHS band doing great things. I grew up in that little Leander town, which is now a nice sized city. Go Lion band make your instruments roar with pride!
Everything I hear that beginning I get chills God remember being at state and thinking yeah we're pretty good then watched yalls show and go damn well I thiught
I'm from Dripping Springs Tiger Band, and I gotta say: I saw this show live, and it gave me chills at BOA. I didn't expect, however, to get the same feeling from a recording, like I just did. You all are great, easily one of my top five favorite shows.
+Cool Raptor Yo, thank you guys so much for the support!!! It's actually pretty funny why we didn't XD. About 15 years ago, a band director got fired from Leander High School. He then got a job as a judge for UIL. After moving up the ranks, he pretty much swore to never let Leander win another competition. Since the judging for UIL is based on opinion rather than the scoring they use for Bands of America, it's easier to make us fail. Ironically, Judge number 2 was the judge that got fired from Leander. Knowing this, that judge rated us 8th place out of ten. That judge is a dick, but the Cedar Park band deserved it. THey had a good show. We also got trolled on the way to the Super Regional in San Antonio. Due to the weather, we got put as exhibition rather than getting judged. Damn... It just wasn't our year XD. Oh well, we still have smiles on our faces, and we love watching all the other bands!! +Zak Foreman I remember watching Tompkins and Tomball's shows this year. They were great guys! Good job! I know the difficulty of Summer Band and how frustrating it is to hear the word "Reset" XD. Great shows guys!!
+Bruce watson i'm not sure where you heard this from, but it isn't true. i'm not sure what he was smoking but he didn't give leander 8th over a grudge. in fact he gave CP 5th and Vandy 6th. I dont agree with his scoring in the slightest but it was not because he had any personal vendetta against the program. also all scoring is based on opinion and i could write a book on every difference between UIL and BOA scoring but yes it is easier to tank a band on a UIL score sheet.
