I regret missing David Lynch speak in New Haven, CT. I couldn't get the day off to attend and I was furious. I should have called out "sick." I knew it was going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Even though I don't have much Interest in his transcendental mediation practices I love listening to him talk about creativity and how you should keep your mind open to new ideas, even if they are just fragments and not fully realized yet. I still have his book Catching the Big Fish, as well the audiobook version. Not much in ways of practical advice but it does liberate your mind and encourages you not to discard those farfetched thoughts. He's a fascinating person.
24:36 "This meaning if you are true to the idea, The meaning can have harmonics." This is an incredibly profound truth. We can read so much into things and depending on our state of consciousness can get a certain understanding out of the same symbols. It's a symbolic universe with many layers of understanding. Because Dr. Lynch is catching ideas at such a deep level of consciousness, they resonate and can hit peoples intellect at different harmonics or different levels of consciousness, from superficial literal meaning, to deep metaphor and symbolism, this is why he doesn't talk about the meaning of his films, he allows us to have our own experience of the film at our own level of consciousness and understanding. Truly a Master Artist.
It's interesting how Lynch talks about sound because I've always felt Lynch makes great use of silence in his work whether it was to build tension, awkwardness, uneasiness in the viewer, humour, all kinds of emotions really. Twin Peaks Season 3 is a great testament to that
She seems rude in her responses after David answers. It makes me feel sad for him. He’s such a gentle person who already hates giving interviews…I don’t know why people have to be as snarky as she is.
In twin peaks, we dive into a dangerous world full of crime and corruption and otherworldly influence, and we always return to the comfort and safety of the diner.
What a pitiful knowledge of cinema history this woman has. "There are many painters and photographers who have become film-makers: most famously Jean Cocteau, Andy Warhol..." Andy Warhol? Er, hello, why not try Derek Jarman ?

I could listen to this man talk for hours !!
It brings me such a big smile to listen to him talk.
Great interview. His views are so right and his mind so great, more people should know of them.
Master please keep us motivated
This is wonderful. This should've gotten more views by now.
So prayerable and lovable
he's such a interesting person to talk to, Great film maker
Those Dune sets and some of it's production values are unreal.
great interview!
Great to see David talking to The Society of Welsh Virgins. ❤
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing.
I love her questions so disconnected after he response though ?
That was a very enjoyable interview.

Yes, he does. He uses it to great effect. People today are so occupied with filling up silence, as if they're afraid of it.

agreed. She was a bit condescending. I thought her interviewing style was just awful.
I see it as her being nervous.

Bad interviewer. Lynch is great, though.
Can we hear more from the two dopes in the beginning.
nice shoes
Meow.
If this interviewer is a tacher in that school... the students are still making jokes at her;
Clip at 6:30 what is that called? Is it meant to represent Alzheimer's or something?
PHILADELPHIA REPRESENT
27'34" > 31'17" : David preaching once again for his cult 😒
Terrible interviewer
yes!
It's like she's not even listening. "Thank you" and "gotcha" are her response before awkwardly reading off the next pre-written question.
She's a teacher. Interviewers are usually trained journalists or very good speakers.
what a horrible interview. chuckling after lynch's answers as if hes making a joke
