    8: The Driver - Maybe, maybe not, it's not a guaranteed death wound
    7: La Beouf - He's a Texas Ranger, he'll be fine after he rests his wounds. Living off the land is what he does.
    6: Robin - He'll be dealing with common criminals at first like he's already done. If he can survive a military/mercenary occupied Gotham, he can definitely deal with burglars and thugs for his first year.
    5: Shaun - Maybe, he did try to bite him already. Shaun was never too bright.
    4: Everyone - Yea, they're dead. That's a polar bear. Even if the polar bear didn't go agro on them, the lack of resources inthat cold world would be their demise.
    3: Jaguar Paw - Yea, either Death or Subjugation would be the result from his interaction with the Conquistadors. "Conquer" is in their name for crying out loud.
    2: Von Trapps - They can always turn and go another way when they realize they are entering German land.
    1: Belle - 30 years is a long time and dying of old age sounds more plausible but hardly "a horrible death". But that's true for everyone ever.

      +Frisky Dingo Belle is a disney cartoon character with talking silverware. You really going to follow him and even give that slot attention? Come on son.

      +Frisky Dingo Glad you did this, but, Snowpiercer is a book. and the movie was just the first third of the story, you don't know how it plays out from the movie. but I gather they survive that encounter (or it was made up and thrown in for effect but,) regardless, the show must go on.... etc. etc.

      +Frisky Dingo I agree with you about Robin. What the video forgot... Robin was already trained in certain types of fighting and armed combat. So it isn't like he going in without knowing what he's doing. (This to video creator) Polar Bears are usually not hostile to humans. Too may videos make those bears out as evil and hostile, in truth they usually ignore others and only hunting to survive. And finally (To Video Creator) the Sounds of Music was correct but didn't give details, they didnt cross into Germany but into the Mountains of Austria where they journeyed toward Switzerland, which requires you to "cross over mountains. I may guess this because many Jewish people did same during WWII.

      +Frisky Dingo I totally agree about Robin. Start slow, practice, etc. I disagree about Jag Paw. He probably went so deep in the woods the Conq's couldn't find him if they wanted to.

      Actually the conquistadors had a rather friendly relationship with the locals. At least those who were in charge.
      The majority of the bloodshed that they are known for is due to a single man and a few hundred of his subordinated breaking ranks and making aggressive moves them selves.
      Further, those few hundred Europeans stood no chance against the local military might. Most of the fighting bodies were other locals who had until that point been subjugated by the ruling classes.
      So essentially the Spanish aligned them selves with the local empire, a few defy orders and align with oppressed locals leading them I. Revolt and when all is said and done the Spanish crown does the only reasonable thing there is to... Accept the new normal and make mo' money.
      How this would have effected the characters in question? I don't know, but they were certainly not the local powers that be so its possible that they actually fought WITH the Spanish.

      Maybe Robin gets patents for all Batman's gadgets, makes millions, and disperses the mass-produced gadgets throughout the Gotham PD. Rather than just one caped crusader you get a police-force with the best weapons for non-lethally apprehending villains in the world. More police in Gotham kills crime once and for all, Robin is a hero and a millionaire, and more change is made in Gotham then Batman, one reclusive inventor, ever could manifest.

    The children in Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers... did you notice that the beginning of the battle they show a bunch of children ready to fight, and then towards the end when they retreat into the main hall they are no where to be seen and they also are not mentioned again. Odds are that most to all of them are dead.

    • @GuzziHeroV50
      @GuzziHeroV50 8 років тому

      +Yahiko25 Indeed. The fighting men rush out along the ridiculously dangerous walkway leaving the kids to the mercy of the orcs they just rode past. I always thought that was an ignored point ;)

    • @MultiJimbo777

      @Yahiko25 8 років тому

      MultiJimbo777 Maybe the women and younger children, but mostly the young boys were set to fight and the remaining forces retreated to the main hall.
      They also didn't have them use the passage since we see them again after the battle... but not many of the children who fought.

    • @mymusic9208

      +Yahiko25 it's pretty badly explained in the films but in the book they take them deep into the tunnel systems and have them hide there until the battle is over. Only the Rohirrim know those passages so any Uruk'hai that tried to follow would get lost. I believe they are supposed to survive but yeah in the movie you never see them again.

    Life expectancy in the 1700s was only 45 because of infanty mortality rates dragging the number down. In reality, they'd live to see the French Revolution and... Well...

    • @PablitoJardinero
      @PablitoJardinero 8 років тому +21

      Yup, people don't get what life expectancy means... "Life expectancy in (whatever time) was 40, so 35 year old people were like today's 70 year old people". Nope. Life expectancy is usually given as life expectancy at birth (LEB) (average time a newborn is expected to live). When child mortality is high, that average gets lower. But for those individuals who survive their childhood, life expectancy grows. For example, in Medieval England, life expectancy of nobles at birth was 30, but if they managed to survive their first 21 years, their life expectancy would be 64. Or in classical Greece, LEB was also around 30, but Plato died when he was 80-81 years old, Socrates when he was 71 (not because of his age), Aristotle at 61...

    • @phamvietlong5409
      @phamvietlong5409 8 років тому +6

      +PablitoJardinero Actually NOPE, vast majority of the population at that time only lived to 45-50 at most, happened the same way in Vietnam, where feudal kings pass their kingship to their sons in their 40s. Very few lived to see their 60s, and the examples you named out are "outliers", exceptional cases that outlived the rest. Medical treatments at that time was not evolved, and diseases which are curable today would have mostly resulted in death in the old days.

    • @lieutenantprick2770
      @lieutenantprick2770 8 років тому

      45 minutes?

    • @twin-reflection975
      @twin-reflection975 8 років тому +4

      Exactly. Life Expectancy is just a measurement of how easy it was to die in that time. Be it diseases or violence of the time. In fact, further back in mid evil times, when a kid went out on his own to be a man, their life expectancy was so low they were more likely to get shot by a random arrow on their way out the door then they were living full lives. lol. @Phamvietlong : No Pabito and Callum are right. Humans did not grow to have longer lives, we have always been able to live to at most a hundred years. Life expectancy is your odds of living given the danger's, diseases, lack of medical care and political struggles of the time.

    • @Florithia
      @Florithia 8 років тому +6

      +Joachim Refshammer You're trying to argue that all of this is movie magic and logic can be ignored? Ok, so, Superman can fly, that is the internal logic of the movie. So that is something that can be taken at face value. Looking at the internal logics of these movies, is The Driver superhuman? Has anything else in the film shown that gut wounds can be shrugged off because everyone is so hard to kill? And looking at the internal logics of the other films, some of these deaths seem like foregone conclusions. Others are maybe less likely. But the possibility is still there.

      +Greg Morgan he did die, but Superboy created a time thingee by punching a wall, and it resurrected him from the dead.
      That said, I dont think the video is referring to Todd anyway, as Todd was trained by Batman and did not die on his first mission, not by a long shot in fact.
      Fact is, its a silly point the video makes as there are plenty of Super heroes with no powers who were not trained by the league of assassins, and they all survive for the most part.

    Polar bears are actually the only known animal that purposefully hunt humans.

    • @trainknut
      @trainknut 8 років тому +55

      Well, they live in an arctic wasteland, I don't think it's really that they hunt humans per se, more-so they just hunt anything with a heart beat, because they're four ton bears who need a lot of food and live in literally the most baron place on the planet.

    • @JohannesWiberg
      @JohannesWiberg 8 років тому +7

      I learned that too but as The Arctic Gamer said, it's not really true. They usually avoid humans, like most bears - but they have hunted them when starved, although that goes for wolves too and probably most big cats. IIRC Crocodiles and lions lead to far more fatalities than polar bears, and crocodiles are "opportunistic hunters" meaning that any large crocodile can very well will consider a human prey if the opportunity arises.

      First of all, Nolan Robin is a different Robin that any of the 4-7 Robins that eventually appear in the comics. Secondly, the Robin that indeed died in the comics was Jason Todd, a street level thug and orphan who was adopted by Bruce Wayne but killed by a lack of competence (A.K.A. Joker)
      But to this day there isn't a direct, cannonic continuation to the Batman movies directed by Christopher Nolan.

    NOPE. In almost everyone version of Robin, his competitive instincts and natural talents pushed him to prove himself better than his mentor. Often training by himself and mimicking the tricks of the trade yet applying his own style and fighting technique. Batman never did complete Robin's training and the Boy Wonder pursued a life outside the shadow of the Bat, thus evolving into the Nightwing. Although nobody could live up to the Batman and his skill set, his legacy spawned independent vigilantes who use the bat symbol to enforce his reach over Gotham. So really he would have been fine.

      No one knows the extent of his skill in the DKR, but if we're considering every realistic scenario, we can speculate that the Robin persona isnt just some bum off the streets that's gonna be playing hero in his pajamas. He seemed resourceful and determined and those were common in every Robin character.

      Which is why I never mentioned it. This video speculates that he's a dead duck...or dead Robin, but really it's the beginning of his chapter and there's a thousand scenarios where he comes out of this just fine. He could learn the craft and skill set it takes to beat on baddies, which in this movie universe is loaded with thugs and lacked any Meta-type villains. In all of Batman's training with the league, he didnt exactly turn into a swift darting ninja assassin, but he did make use of his other tricks, like evasion, stealth, tactics, skill sets which the street brawling Robin is not really known for.

    Wait, people didn't take the end of Apocolypto to be bleak/everyone is gonna die? I mean... That was the goddamn title of the film. It's the apocalypse, though not the one the Aztecs expected. The Spanish were here, and everyone is going to die.

    • @JazziopeiaGirl
      @JazziopeiaGirl 8 років тому +4

      Good point about the title! Though I thought, (hoped) the point of Jaguar Paw and his family seeing the ships, meant that they were able to leave the area ahead of time, and survived. They seemed like survivalists that could make it on their own living deeper in the jungle away from the brutal Mayan civilization, (I checked wiki, lol) that they just escaped. But yeah, it's the end of the world for the Mayans.

    • @silenthero2795

      I see the ending as kind of as retribution to those tribes that gave crap on the protagonist. He and his family might have a jump start to get out of there before the invasion of disease and conquest. So maybe they survived? I always sees this as poetic justice for all the crap the main character was put through.

    • @carloswendtful
      @carloswendtful 8 років тому +9

      The spanish men didn't conquer America alone, with their muskets that needed to be reloaded each shot. They only defeated those big empires (that were already decadent) because they got support of thousands of men from different small tribes, just like that where Jaguar Paw was from. So, the Spaniards were the allies of the protagonist.

    • @josephmccafferty4172
      @josephmccafferty4172 7 років тому

      Based on the timeline that the movie is "supposed" to be on, the Spanish shouldn't have EVER KNOWN ABOUT SOUTH AMERICA. The one about Robin in the Dark Knight Rises is a pretty weak stretch - there's no reason to assume he will just throw on Batman's costume and immediately go out to fight criminals without any preparation at all is a tad ridiculous. He's a COP, remember? He's not just an average joe, and he's just been shown a ton of equipment, weapons, and tech that will take him a while to learn. I'd say he'll stand a chance, when he's ready to try it all out. And anyone who knows history already knows the fate of Jaguar Paw and his kind, so you're making a false assumption that anyone has a hope for that one.

    Thank you for acknowledging "Showpiercer". I hate it when people think those two kids surviving the crash was a sign of hope. Even if the polar bear ignored the kids and walked off, let's consider the what are great "survivors" are. One is a drug addict pre-teen girl. The other is a malnourished pre-teen boy. Neither of them know anything about camping, hunting, tracking, cooking, or mountain climbing. There could be books and manuals on within the wreckage, but I doubt either of them can read. Maybe, maybe, maybe they could use one of the train cars for shelter. Maybe, maybe, maybe they could salvage a few items from the train, but they certainly wouldn't last for long. I'd give them anywhere from 3 hours to 3 weeks at best. Heck, even if they lived for years, humanity is still extinct. What shall they do, mate with their own children? >:-(

      +Lance Snead I'm sorry, 2 ppl can not start a race. I do not care how many children she might have at first. She can not keep up with the death rate that would occur. Also, the boy is a pre teen? Odds are, his sperm is not vaible enough, at that age, to produce a viable child, (or any child). Also, you say she is a drug addict? Odds are, any children she has will have birth defects, if not be addicts, themselves.
      Basically, if they have all the luck on their side: She has more then one child and at least one of them is female. The boy has viable sperm. They figure out how to survive the harsh environment. No animals end their lives before she can reproduce......their offspring will be sickly and the lot of them will die off in less then 3 years. Tops.

    • @TheGreatLKHS
      @TheGreatLKHS 8 років тому +1

      +UTFan666 Hello sir or ma'am. Please re-read my post more carefully. You seem to be under the impression that I am on the filmmakers' side of "Hope." I am not. I stated that humanity would perish with the inevitable swift demise of the children. I outlined why the kids would not survive, including their great lack of education, training, and resources. It is my theory that kids would survive for less than a month, nowhere near enough time for the boy to reach reproductive maturity.
      On another topic, the girl was addicted to a fictional substance. The substance can be used as either a drug or as an explosive. It only exists in the movie, and the audience doesn't know its long-term effects. Based on the content of the movie, the girl is obsessed with taking the drug whenever possible. She had a one-track mind about getting more of the drug. However, her physical and mental condition did not seem to be effected.

When Shaun's Stepfather turns and they are rushing to get out of the car and leave him trapped inside they reassure the mother that there is nothing left of him in that empty vessel. But as he says that the zombie Stepfather turns off the loud radio suggesting that there is actually a sense of self left in a turned person so with how much of a friend Ed was to Shaun there would be close to 0% chance that he would actually get bitten and turned. Cause the other thing you also forget is that the end of the movie if I"m not mistaken showed how the zombies were being domesticated.

    I've only ever seen one of those eight films (The Sound of Music) and I've always assumed (due to the magic of dramatic licence) that the 120 miles of journey from Salzburg to Switzerland was, er, edited out of the story in order to, er, make the film not boringly long. Otherwise we would all be bored to death watching them drive in a car for a few hours to get to the border.
    But anyway, the delight derived from listening to the narrator's lovely deep voice is (by a ratio of about a billion to one) enough to outweigh the pedant-related annoyance at the mispronunciation of "Berchtesgaden" - which, to be fair, is not as bad as a hippopotamus ostentatiously eating a bucket full of lemons.

      +OneNewHope Yeah, and people survived crazier shit in the 1800s. We have seen Hugh Glass' story in the revenant. Then there was Robert McGee who was shot, scalped, and stabbed multiple times and survived. And Josiah Wilbarger who also survived being shot with arrows and scalped. The American frontier had a lot of stories of people surviving insane injuries, I think Labeouf was kind of a nod to those people who survived crazy shit.

    The only one I didn't agree on is Robin and the Legacy of Batman. You compare it to a sniper giving an 8 year old his sniper rifle. But the difference is: Robin is not an idiotic child with no experience, he was one of the smarter cops trained by the police department in one of the most brutal cities around. He is not going to be stupid enough to just strap some batarangs to his belt and run out like a fool. I am fairly sure he will have the brains to do some research and to practice martial arts.
    Also, Snowpiercer; seeing a polar bear is not a good enough proof that the environment can sustain human life; a polar bear can survive -40 degrees celcius without a problem. Humans cannot. btw, what had thst bear eaten and lived all these years that the climate was in fact too cold for life? Sped up evolution?

  • @psammiad

    The only one I had a problem with is beauty and the beast. Not because they necessarily wouldn't be killed in the french revolution, but not every nobleman/woman was beheaded, not only did many live but also this is a Disney movie set in the Disney universe, needless to say the castle, town, peasants, and nobles you see in the movie are all invented characters that could have had just about any outcome of thousands of scenarios not the least of which being that in a world of magic the revolution wouldn't include their specific deaths.That's not to say it wouldn't happen, but it's not as likely as the others on this list... also life expectancy in their time was actually around 70 if you factor out infant deaths, but that's a common misconception.

      Fusion does not require radioactive isotopes like Fission (Uranium and Plutonium). It collides two hydrogen atoms to create helium and a neutron. Technically we need fission to achieve fusion so i guess your right in that sense, but fusion alone does not.

    life expectancy used to be so low back in the days, because of the extremely high rate that children were dying due to diseases. noble people were completely fine. human race doesnt evolve like this within 200 years. do you guys think dogs never got older than 4 years back than? noble people that were less likely to be exposed to diseases, had better hygiene and enough food and water were just as likely to get 70 or 80 years old.

      So two people try to "repopulate" humanity.
      They'll have to give birth to at least one healthy son and daughter. Who will then have to copulate with each other to raise the next generation.
      Congratulations, you now have a population of inbreds with bizarre diseases that only exist because there are no "outside" genes to get rid of them.
      That is, if the inbreeding doesn't cause future generations to become infertile.
