Yes, kind of messy, but I think the sealer goes between the rubber and the pinch welds as well. I guess especially important for the windshield to prevent leaks.

Anybody that says you don't need sealer on glass and pinchweld hasn't had water soaked carpets yet.... Probably garage queens.

Your "booger hook" is a cotter key puller. Very handy in a myriad tasks. Gaskets like this, or to align bolt and clamp openings, pull components into place, thread on a washer onto a stud in hard to reach places, and many other things. No self-respecting aircraft mechanic will be caught without one.

Nice Work Barry. I also have seen where grass trimmer line was used instead of the rope and it seemed to work very well.

Toss that gasket into the clothes dryer for a few minutes, it will stretch right on easy.
Also seat covers, head liner, carpet ... easy

Good video. I was told by a friend who did auto glass to put the sealant between the glass and seal when you stretch the rubber on the glass. I don't know what works best. I will try it when I get around to putting my windows back in.

Put the sealant in after the rubber is stretched into the glass. OR Some say before because it lets the rubber slide and stretch easier. Then clean up the sealer mess before installing the glass into the car.

Another great step forward. I am hoping I do not need to remove and reinstall my rear glass. I see a little rust peeking out around the chrome. I am hoping it is not much.

Ive restored both a 64 and 65 Beetle and the window rubber and install is the same except no sealant at all is used and it’s fine. I wonder why the mustangs are so sealant and strip caulk crazy? Irregardless I will do the sealant and strip caulk when I put the windows back in my 66.

oddly enough, one of the advertisements that popped up during this video was for American auto glass if you need a new glass installed in your car. even say they do restored in classic car is. Hard to see an advertisement pop up in a video it is actually relevant to the video. Nice job on the window install.

ok , i got the same rear window gasket from the same place and same people and my rubber is like too big ,i had to keep playing with it so it won't fall off the glass

Set the seal outside in the sun for a couple of hours.

    Why no sealer?

I talked about it in the video. I'll add sealer later.

@@JoDaddysGarage Yup...I posted the comment before the end of video. :-) Will just adding it as you intend to give a good seal? I've heard it needs to be between seal and body also.

It should be fine. I will add sealer inside the channel, and around the outside before installing trim.
