Sorry but privacy/security and ESP in the same sentence is laughable
That may be a fair assessment can you please elaborate? For contexts in the emergency communication space the typical two-way radio operator has no expectation of privacy. So I have to ask, are you saying with a LoRa radio (nRF52 or ESP 32) configured with AES 256 keys and Bluetooth/WiFi off, that I could expect no privacy?
Q: If I have a 'client' up in a tree, will it repeat? If so, will it repeat other 'channels?' In other words, my location is not ideal, I think, for router or repeater, due to elevation, but I wouldn't mind it serving as a hop point for everyone and anyone. As of now it's long fast, though I'd prefer to make a private channel. 👍
Simple answer is yes to both question. The Meshtastic developer are now recommending people use client mode. It has something to do with how the node prioritizing what messages based off the location in the mesh network. If that didn't completely answer your questions, please let me know.
I manually enter my Lat and Long, mqtt turned on. Provide phone location to mesh off. See node on map, and it seems like my node is refreshing shortly after and my position is 0 an 0 for lat and long. 2.3.13 firmware. I cant get it to stick. Ideas?
I am going to have play around my setting and see if I have the same issue. Are you using Android or Apple?
@@EmCommSolutions Android. Setting up multiple nodes with one phone.
Ok, I think it has something to do with mqtt. I set two nodes to fixed locations and no matter what I do the lat/long remains the same as inputted.
@EmCommSolutions Roger, will try that. I wanted the nodes to shoe up on maps in general area to help promote mesh in this area.
I posted your question in my Telegram group and one of the members posted this. "I had that issue on a previous version and it took two reboots of the device. Upon the 2nd reboot waited 10 mins for the proper voltage reading to populate then tried again and it worked."
I hope this helps you out.
