  • Crazy Race! Something Different: an odd combination of competing vehicles chosen and a steam engine passenger train. Model Railroad & Slot Car HO Racing Layout: Slot Cars in video: Cadillac 1959 Ambulance black (Auto World 4 Gear Ultra G) vs Willys Custom 1941 Auto World Thunderjet T-Jet Ultra G. HO Scale Trains in video: B & O passenger cars and a steam locomotive model train HO Scale. The steam locomotive is a 2-8-4 Berkshire type (which B&O did not actually have). The passenger cars were immersed in a 8 inch sudden rain flash flood (basement 2' water) that damaged paint, decals and water-stained appearance (or rather cleaning them with toothbushes). The Cadillac 1959 Ambulance and Willys Custom slot car are new self-built Auto World Deluxe Pit kits that had to be assembled and painted AND these slot cars have worked well with no glitches noted so far (except paint jobs). They were fun to run around the track, they stayed on the track very well going quite fast in speed on the straightaway tracks. The Wileys was responsive and fast and Cadillac long and big and bumped off the coupe. The cars had nice range of speeds on the Parma controllers, so they could be slow through the curves and also sprint on straightaways. This was an odd match up on the roadway of Auto World Thunderjet and Auto World 4 Gear slot cars. The Willys was faster than the Cadillac and was ahead in the race. They went through the squeeze track nipping and scuffing. The Cadillac disabled the Willys 2 times at squeeze track. We do more like "road rally" than race, like the rally races that go the speed limit and winning is to stay on road, not go off and hit the wall or worse, go on the floor. Video is not at all in order or continuous, with only one camera on tripod that was moved around to various view angles during the race and the clips were edited and intermingled.
