They miss Eddie. Yes, guys like Joshua will sell to the casuals, but I learned about so many undercard fighters because of Eddie shouting their names from the rooftops. It's fine to have a promoter who isn't front and centre, but then the fighters need to have the personality to fill the void. There’s not many situations where you can blame the catastrophe on a single entity. In this case you can. Ben Shalom is as useful as a Johnny on a guy with a vasectomy.
Ben burnt a lot of bridges with Eddie that didn't need to be burnt initially fighters were released even under contract (Hughie Fury etc) as Sky had more money, fighters like Baumgardner were sent over for fights (none back) but then that match fixing buddy of his (as per the Times article last weekend) got involved and he started poaching fighters under contract Eddie wanted and refusing purse bids . I mean Okolie face of Sky
eddie actually promotes his fighters. look how many views his interviews get, compared to anyone else. he makes people want to watch the fights. he probably brings fighters an extra 10% just from talking. then there's the cards. none of these promoters really put on good undercards. matchroom fights you can watch good fights even on the undercards. all fans want are good fights. not just a half decent fight right at the end.

The amount of fighters that were household names all because they were on the Sky machine was unreal. Like Kell Brook: personality of a spatula but yet was a decent draw because the machine was behind him.
I see the common denominator as sky. @HellBlazerMNE07 i think you have misunderstood me. He’s in big trouble now that Matchroom and Queensbury have developed a decent working relationship which is bringing both unprecedented profit and positive profiles. I’d be amazed if they haven’t discussed that by continuing they can push out the other UK promoters and attract their fighters. To be fair to Ben, anyone would now have a struggle on their hands imo.
One factor is Britain doesn't have many world class fighters right now. At one stage you had Froch, Brook, Groves, Khan, Frampton, Bellew, Quigg, Crolla, Burns. All fighters capable at the top level and could sell an arena in their hometown.
This vid might be the best argument for the Saudi shenanigans... despite no-one being able to afford to go in person (fans I mean) at least we are getting more solid fights, although there is still a way to go there too, the Dec 23 event matchups could have been better
