I think Magnus spends a lot of time in the opening on purpose to annoy his opponents. You can see that Firouzja was visibly irritated by it and chess is a fight of two minds so that's an advantage for Magnus
To beat the undisputed world champion you also need a cool head and a strong character. Duda was also late, but Magnus, calm and unperturbed, told the arbiter not to start the clock until his opponent arrived (he also did it while waiting for Ivanchuk late, a few years ago, at the Leuven tournament)
Such an intersting batlle of the minds to see unfold. Magnus came late and noticed alireza already started the clock where you can see him raise his eyebrows. Then in the beginning of the game he takes a lot of time for just the first 3 moves. I think the purpose for this is first of all getting into the mindspace and getting the opening right calculating all the possibilities but also to hand it back to alireza and show him he doesnt care about wasting his time which annoys alireza, he looks around the room at one moment waiting for magnus to move. In the middle game magnus does some fairly uncommon moves with the pawns for example to throw alireza off and not letting him get into the sequenzes subsequentually throwing alireza into deep waters with him. Alireza i think is getting nervous by this point and backs off several times thus magnus wins the game by continuosly putting pressure on and not letting alireza get into the offence at all. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk haha
Exactly. He defeated alireza by using psychological tactics. Btw, I'm an iranian and most Iranians have low temper. So maybe that's why he did that to alireza

9:27 is the drop for Firouzja. In a split second, he notices he blunders. how tricky chess is- any other king move to the back rank is a draw, but Kxg8 is *+5* for white!!!
I think this match has been already decided from 10:00 since Magnus created his unescapeable trap with that white knight F6 Bishop and the white Queen! Damn he's just too good! 👍

Alireza had so much pressure on the king side but Magnus was unfazed. Undermined his pieces then reversed that pressure onto Alireza. Just world champ things
I am French and I am proud of Alireza Firouzja. And he's a fighter. But I think Nodirbek Abdusattorov will be the new kid (king) on the block. For this game, look at the white pawns, they own the game. (you don't want to exchange material in this situation, it's a clear error from Alireza)
According to Stockfish, the game is very even until 9:25. The king move was a blunder, allowing a big attack with the knight and potential pawn fork on e6. But Alireza had big time trouble, hence the blunder
I firmly believe magnus is the stronger player right now, but the world championship is also classical so that is something to consider. Ofc Magnus is the best player in the world, and I hope to see their World Championship match in the near-ish future.
coming in 40 sec late... thinking for a min before move 2 ... hold my beer... then just walking down the king like a mountain troll... The Magnum Carlsen.
Firouzja went ahead and started the clock, what a b-move. Magnus Carlen was late this year to the 2023 World Blitz Championship, but his opponent asked to not start the clock until he arrived. The arbiters still went ahead and started the clock. Magnus had like 30 seconds and still won. But still, I had immense respect for Magnus' opponent across the board, knowing that it's Magnus Carlen he is playing and yet he wanted no advantage.
One strategy Carlsen uses to frustrate his tough opponents and upset their mind is by arriving late at the board or thinking for too long on his second move.
yeah that was a genius play. Magnus knows all the tricks and what Magnus is best at using psychological tricks almost no one realizes even after the machtes.. so they continue to work for him.
Magnus: Oh you started the clock while I wasn't here? No problem I'll show you I don't need the wasted time by taking more time relaxing, thinking and still obliterate you with some spare minutes at the end. That was a monster flex 💪
The way Magnus masterfully used his knights and pawns to shutdown any shenanigans from black's bishops at the beginning was nice. I just started watching pro games today so...maybe that's common but it seemed very calculated. The way he used his knight to harass the rest of the game was also amazing
Duda gave a good game to carlsen but this was pure Carlsen domination from beginning to end. You could see from the body language of Firo mid game he knew what was going to happen.

@@justaguy6001it was not a stalemate idiota. Black resigned, checkmate in a few moves. If you can’t see it then you need to up your chess game.
Alireza not complaining this time?
😄same thought.
Ali-Reza did not become famous here ... He had to take the pawn on c4 and master the strategic point d5 which for the black "life means" ... Instead he played pale ... He allowed the whites to change the cd: and reached a subordinate position ...
9:27 is the drop for Firouzja. In a split second, he notices he blunders. how tricky chess is- any other king move to the back rank is a draw, but Kxg8 is *+5* for white!!!
Thanks for showing the full game without any annoying commentator.
I’d doze off when Magnus is stalling and get an assistant to wake me up 🤣🤣
Opponent: *makes the first move
Magnus: Oh, I see where this is going
Im new to chess. Can someone explain the move at 3:45. Wasnt that moving 2 pieces in one move?
That move is called castling, that is the only time in chess when you can move two pieces at once to castle the king with rook
His prepped so deep to be able to weaken e5 like that. scary
After declining Tata steel, and show this boasting attitude, I'm glad Carlsen teaches Alireza who's still the boss...
Even i would decline disrespectful organisers
9:32 It was at this moment he knew... well you know the rest.
That was beautiful move
Alireza needs to remove the "Caro-Kann" from his repertoire...Carlsen CRUSHED him...Simply BRUTAL
I think this match has been already decided from 10:00 since Magnus created his unescapeable trap with that white knight F6 Bishop and the white Queen! Damn he's just too good! 👍
Hi, stupid beginner here. There is a pawn on F6 tho and the bishop (B2) cannot move because of another pawn in the way? I can't see the trap yet. Could you explain please? I really want to learn :)
For those who didn’t get it
Next move of Magnus is pawn with check … then only option to move king to corner. Then Magnus will going to use his queen to check king diagonally . And this way he lost … Its clear Anticipation … so he accepted his defeat before he lost 😞…
Can someone explain to me how this game ended? Mid game they shook hands. I cant see a forthcoming check mate yet
I know shit is driving me crazy idk shit about chess tho
Alireza resigned/gave up
yes me too, in our country we although our oppobent is tough we dont surrender until we actually get checkmate.😅
so i was confused as well.
Magnus must have recalled his teenage days when he got beaten by the then greats like ivanchuk, anand, kramnik etc 😄😄
Experience matters a lot ! He will surely beat him in the upcoming years
Yeah, Magnus will beat Alireza anyday
Can someone explain why the time decrease and increase (
I think if you eat a piece, you gain time, but I dunno.
@@LazySkeleton74 thnx
Can somebody explain how he won i dont see checkmate and time on the clock.. Was it a forfeit? (Im new)
Yes, he resigned because he knew he was gonna lose.
This brings me back when young Magnus was waiting for Garry Kasparov in 2004 Oslo Rapid
I was playing chess with my friend and he said, "Let's make things interesting." So we stopped playing chess.
why they never play till the end?
Black was running out of time AND had a badly losing position. When you're at such a tremendous disadvantage against someone like Magnus, the dignified thing to do is surrender.
amazing to me how at the end all the people don't realize that the greatest chest player of all time is walking right past them
Why did the other guy quit? I’m confused
He forfeit cause there was an easy checkmate in 2-3 moves, a checkmate is usually rare, knowing when to quit is also a good skill
At last magnus escaped from the cameramen happily😂.only players zone😅
Magnus is playing with the mind of his opponent as he does with his pieces
can someone explain why at 6:50, the player on the right moved his rook and queen whenever he was in NO danger and Magnus could NOT take his pieces without checking himself?
Just amazing game! I still find it hard to see the abstract moves of Magnus, but when I think carefully, I see how amazing his moves are!
Who won this match?? And how?? Anyone Please explain??
Is this a serious question? Like, for real???
You think this is not a sport until you see Magnus Carlsen playing, just magnificent 👏
Sport means there would be some sort of athleticism involved. This is just a game. One of the best games ever created. But it will never be a "sport"
@@bobo42024 sorry buddy but more than 100 countries recognize this as a sport except for the UK, so even if it’s not a sport for you, it is a sport.
@@Rednot_ If all countries say cheese is a vegetable would it still be it ? It's not a sport at all. It's a very brilliant and depth game but not a sport at all.
@@renaudlemieux1 look man, that’s your opinion and if you want to be an ignorant that’s your choice, but if the International Olympic Committee says chess is a sport, then it’s a fucking sport, period.
Can somebody explain who won I am learning this game and I just couldn't understand what happend in the end
Alireza resigned.
I don't get it.. why did alireze surender?
Yes. 2D board is very good. Appreciate all your efforts for this. Nice job. Kudos to one and all in chess base India.
what dont come after me but who won??💀i replayed so many times i didn't understand how he won
Magnus won. Because they understand the dynamics to such a high level, You’ll rarely see a checkmate and they’ll just resign because they know it’s coming in 2,3 moves
I'm beginner in chess can someone please tell me how the game finished? Cuz i see he didn't kill his king
We don't need to kill king like other pieces. Instead we need to trap the king so that he can't move anywhere
But in this game his king was able to move@@50mgamers57
Alireza resigned.
Beginner question: Why did the game end? They both had plenty of pieces on the board
commenting because I also want to know
Yes me too
He had two moves to finish the game
Timer out
0:31, magnus be like- shanti se betha nahi aur inhone content lena shuru kardiya😂.
OMG.....Magnus, r u really a human ?
God level talent... bow down
he won a chess game, chill
@@081_rohit8 No reason to treat him as if he was some king of god.
@@sergi-13 seems like you are Russian
@@sergi-13 he is literally THE KING. keep crying you haters
@@081_rohit8 I mean, I root for Magnus over everyone else, but I think he played the opening brilliantly, kept increasing the pressure in the middle game but somewhat frozen after Ng4 or something along that move number. Nevertheless, he won after capitalizing on the h6 blunder.
I feel like some fans are just looking at the results and calling people (in general) gods left, right and center after every win.
Can we just appreciate how magnus wins almost every game and still does not say a single word
I love from 0:50 to 1:22 when Magnus can't remember the second move for White in the main line Caro-Kann.
sure he did remember, he just spent time thinking about 10 more moves ahead
I think he was trying to get out of theory as quick as possible. I think by move 10, a completely new game(professional standards).
He just calculated the whole game finding the fastest win
@@warlordsilent6014 probably searching in his database on Alireza preferences ... Magnus had played over hundreds of blitz games vs Alireza to kind of learnt his styles. Magnus lost the blitz series in total, but he's probably testing Alireza tactics as well back then.
The arbitrator looks at Magnus and thinks - this guy is never on time ! 😂
But always wins
@@gargimishra5758 true 🤣
Could someone explain to me why in 8:39 black doesn’t take the pawn in g4 and follows up with the bishop?
Probably because white has a fork on h6 if he does that
And at 4:20 that moment was crucial for magnus as alireza started opening the c file early in the game for magnus to make the queen’s endgame his and ultimately the game. really amazing to watch these two!
Thanks!
give me some money pls
At the end sagar is like "hum first hum first"
Don't know anything about chess and I have no idea what I'm watching but UA-cam decided to recommend this video so here I am
Magnus is pure class, what a champion!!!
He's classless.
Okay, I kno sum1 is goin 2 correct me n call me an idiot.. but y didn't alizera move his G5 pawn to F4 at 8:37?
12:47 You have the limelight now Firouzja that Magnus gave to you. Media and Players have all their eyes on the match 🔥
Lool that magnus gave to you. Not because of Magnus' fear of you...
Hi, I'm a beginner, so I want to know what you guys all think about this:
the right guy, couldn't he take his bishop (D6), and bring it to G3 and then take the king at 09:09 ? Looking forward to an answer :)
one more question:
why did the guy on the right give up at 12:47 ?
@@stefanie369 because magnus is too good lol
The king would be able to capture the bishop
@@idipmypenintomytea you're right. I didn't think ahead there, haha. Thanks for replying :)
Alireza had so much pressure on the king side but Magnus was unfazed. Undermined his pieces then reversed that pressure onto Alireza. Just world champ things
I’m newbie to chess can someone explain to me what happens at 3:45 they both swap the king and rook over
It’s called castling if you’re still wondering
The game was so natural that I got goosebumps
I am French and I am proud of Alireza Firouzja. And he's a fighter.
But I think Nodirbek Abdusattorov will be the new kid (king) on the block.
For this game, look at the white pawns, they own the game. (you don't want to exchange material in this situation, it's a clear error from Alireza)
According to Stockfish, the game is very even until 9:25. The king move was a blunder, allowing a big attack with the knight and potential pawn fork on e6. But Alireza had big time trouble, hence the blunder
Yes and according to me, black did not has a single serios thread the whole game
How many moves ahead are these thinking of ? I don’t know the rules btw
Is this any kind of electronic board, that make the physically moved pieces to automatically appear in the digital screen
Yes, it is.
@@TheRomanianWolf what's the cost, where can we buy it

I'm new in chess game 😅can someone tell me why is the game over before any chessmate is being done??? Thank you❤
Time
Future world championship match
And results will be same
Why didn't Firouzja didn't play e6xf5 at 9:47?
I guess he had a reason for it, but I don't see it. ;)
It's very SIMPLE: Nxh6 check and rook falls.
Who won please please write who won?
Same
Sagar sir , is caro kann top level opening like WCC . We never see caro kann In nepo vs carslen.
Can someone explain how did the other guy lose? Like they just shook hands and I didn’t see any check mate..?
He knows after 3 moves it will be mate
Now I see why Magnus will only play against Alireza in the WCC. It's because it's so easy to win that he won't need to work too hard.
Why it's over
Magnus: Oh you started the clock while I wasn't here? No problem I'll show you I don't need the wasted time by taking more time relaxing, thinking and still obliterate you with some spare minutes at the end.
That was a monster flex 💪
6:48 can someone explain what happened in these between 20 sec+- in this video
The way Magnus studied the Board after the opening Move was Scary lol probably played out the first 20 Moves Lol
