There are some major generalizations here. What struck me the most was the failure to mention different color mutations regarding the crest colorfulness, even though the video footage showed different mutations. It is absolutely true that the females of the "standard color" cockatiel (the color found in the wild) have more muted colors in their crests and their whole faces, but this is not true for mutations that are very common in the pet trade. For example, I have a pied pearl mutation female that has the brightest yellow crest ever, but she is still a female. Just my two cents on the matter
We lost our "Melvin" a few years ago after 26 years. If someone would have told me long ago I would cry over a bird's passing, I would have disagreed. Well I bawled like a baby.
My baby girl One of my nicknames for her is Cuddles because she demands scritches and once you sit or lay down with her she will not let you up, she’s cuddled with me for hours sometimes
Such an accurate video with the information. I've been a cockatiel owner for years and I can attest everything you say here about female cockatiels is true. Thanks!!!
Lol my female is completely opposite. She's loud and very friendly and loves everyone and everything. She mimics alot. Males usually take good care of babies as well. I Both of my birds are handraised. My male I 22. My female just turned 1.
Pellets: Mix a small amount of pellets in with your cockatiel's current seed diet. Gradually increase the amount of pellets and decrease the amount of seeds over time. Try soaking the pellets in water or juice to make them more appealing. vegetables: Offer a variety of healthy foods. This will give your cockatiel the opportunity to try different things and find what they like. Make the food fun and interesting. Try chopping vegetables into small pieces or shredding them into a "chop." You can also try offering them in different ways, such as in a foraging toy or on a kabob.
i have a female cocktail bird and she is absolutely amazing but is there any way to potty train them? I just got her a few days ago shes really friendly but she poops a lot and i wanna know if there is a way to potty train it
Yes, they actually can be potty trained. They indicate when they're about to poop, such as shaking all their feathers and then fluffing up before they poop. When you see it doing this, take it to its cage so it can poop, then reward it with its favourite treat (You can also just time roughly how long it's been since it ate so you can predict when it needs to poop). Repeatedly doing this over a period of time will teach the bird to associate pooping in its cage with getting its favourite treat, whereas pooping outside the cage gets nothing. This will encourage it to only poop in the cage. Good luck 👍
Hello there. Great listicle. Thanks. I have a cockatiel but I'm not sure about it's gender. It always stays reserved and quiet in one place for hours, eats and drinks normally but always has it's crest raised. Recently bought a lively whistling male tiel for it and the male is trying to court it and engage in mating but it keeps biting/nibbling the male one away but still tries to be around the male (tiptoes towards the male on the same perch) and they are sleeping close together too. Is this normal behaviour? Also is the quiet tiel a female? It stays semi fluffed up especially around the beak at all times and can sit still for hours (although it seems to be more active after I introduced the male tiel).
Try more dark time. My female gets about 14-16 hours of "nighttime". I will give her more time if she acts weird. One thing thats made a drastic chnage! Hard to get used too but worth her health.
Hello you helped me a lot I want to know if I buy a female cockatiel for my male cockatiel will the bond of me and his will break I want to know that or should I buy them in saperate cages what will happen please tell me I don't want any babies too cuz I cant take care of those little babies Btw my male cockatiel is bonded from me for 1 year Thank you
Well, the bond between you and him won't break fully, but he might get more focused on the female. If you dont want any babies, then you gotta take the eggs, if the female lays some, and replace them with plastic eggs, this way, you won't have any babies. And after you got a new one you should keep the two in different cages for some time anyway as quarantine, after a few weeks you can let them meet while free flight
try with some treats she can be territorial try to be calm talk to her and whistle don't straight up put ur hand u cam have a wooden stick k tame her with that and give her 1 or 2 treats a day
i tamed mine in 5 days!! when i first met her, she lived in a home first, so shes friendly. she was bowing her head.. so i pet her for 2 mins. and wouldnt step in or smth like that. day 5 my tiel was fully tamed! it would follow me everywhere and let me pet her freely.
Was it already like that when you got her? Maybe it's Stress. If she's a Lutino or some other special Morph, it might also be due to inbreeding though, which was done with them a lot in the Past to get more of them. My female Cockatiel also is a bit sparsely feathered under her Wings, which is probably due to that Reason
I don't know what your measure of "a lot" is, but I can assure you they poop as much as other birds, which is quite often. Usually, after I let my cockatiel sit on me for a few hours I check where she stayed to see if I have any poop on me
Yes, I am I am a Cocateil owner mine, so why is why mine is why OK my cockatiels are why do you know that now OK I got a pet cockatiels😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊

They will still poop here and there ( that's just what I heard)

Please make a video on how to stop a female cockatiel from laying infertile eggs
Thank you
You gotta buy fake eggs, take the real ones away when theh arent looking
Get a male cockatiel for a start
Try more dark time. My female gets about 14-16 hours of "nighttime". I will give her more time if she acts weird. One thing thats made a drastic chnage! Hard to get used too but worth her health.
❤❤❤
My cocktail rub his/her bottom with objects and when i install a nesting box it attacks the female gets aggressive
What should i do?
Please suggest how to keep male and female cockatiel in same cage, without letting them mate or lay eggs??
They most likely won't mate unless there is a nest box in the cage
My female cockatiel is opposite. Male one is more friendly but female one try to bite😕

I just knowed that my birb was a female cuz she laid an egg tday and then I saw this vid and found all similarities 😀😅
I have 1 female cockateil it's name is Luna!❤
My female is very clingy and sweet ❤
Why is my new female cocktiel keeps sleeping in the coner of the cage? She is sleeping most of the time, what should i do😭
That usually means they're sick. Take her to a vet immediately!
I have a beautiful tiel called DONALD ❤️ he just has the best personality he is 5yrs old now i just love him ❤️😍❤️😍❤️
I took her...four or five weeks before...Shes a white-faced cockatiel but shes very aggressive How can i tame her?
try with some treats she can be territorial try to be calm talk to her and whistle don't straight up put ur hand u cam have a wooden stick k tame her with that and give her 1 or 2 treats a day
Great info, but the repetitiveness got annoying.
It's so hard to tame the female's, I tame my males in one/two weeks😭
Taming males is way easier for me.😅
i tamed mine in 5 days!! when i first met her, she lived in a home first, so shes friendly. she was bowing her head.. so i pet her for 2 mins. and wouldnt step in or smth like that. day 5 my tiel was fully tamed! it would follow me everywhere and let me pet her freely.
Almost all my female cockatiel have bigger body than male cockatiel..
Mine is also approximately the same Size as her Partner
I have a female teil, she screeches, loud! She gets on my finger, but wont interact
why doesnt my cockatiel have feathers on her breast and abdomen
Was it already like that when you got her? Maybe it's Stress.

He says males are bigger than females well its wrong i have a female and male both 6 months old and the male is smaller
He said on average
Yes, I am I am a Cocateil owner mine, so why is why mine is why OK my cockatiels are why do you know that now OK I got a pet cockatiels😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Why does my cockatiel doesn't allow me to pet him?? I've had him for a month now and he stand on my finger and come to me when i call him
Every time he come to you, hold him a little snack like a cheerio, while he eat cheerio, head pet.
@@scgmike7805 I tried but every time he turn his head away before i get a chance...he got fast reflexes and reactions
