As a gay man I find it refreshing that they are actually using a real gay person to play a gay role. I love the fact that the guy who plays oliver (a gay man) is actually gay in real life.
Okay i am going to be the first one to admit that when i started watching these oliver/conner things i felt like oliver was kinda boring and very timid and might make this relationship boring but god as i went on i really started to like oliver and the man can do so much better cause honestly conner is a pretty face with a shit ass personality godsake just dump him.
from the beginning, i kinda liked Oliver really gullible and naive but super sweet and smart Conner was an ass for stringing him along, but i could see the appeal

By mid season 1, Connor x Oliver was the main reason i powered through the whole show in 2 weeks. Conrad (the actor) brought such a irrepressible charm and adorableness to Oliver that he just pulls me in, and I still love Oliver as my favourite character despite some terrible writing for him in S3 and S6. Their relationship has been the best homosexual relationship I've seen on screen that shows a loving couple like any other, not just with over the top gay stereotypes or jokes. And spoilers for further season, don't read ahead if you haven't finish past season 2" Despite Connor being the confident, manipulative one in early S1, by mid season 1 Oliver is the one driving the pace of the relationship and he too will act like a jerk many times during the show. Still love him though!

Lol if you watch later seasons you can see how much Connor has changed since mid season 1, being completely in love with Oliver. And Oliver became darker in later seasons
