      yes.. i wish theyd stop making offroad videos its cringey.. they go WOAAHH look at all this water im driving thru.. meanwhile a dodge caravan could handle that.. every video its oowh oh i might break something while they attempt obstacles at 5mph.. get a jeep and just mash it up those trails at 40-50kph it wont mind and a good driver could do it in 2wd
      when youre so stuck you have to get out thru the window and it takes two vehicles with winches and a couple hi-lift jacks to get you moving again then youre offroading... thats why people like jeeps because you can put them in those situations and the straight axles, small overhangs and straight body lines tucked behind fenders and rock sliders keep you from peeling it open like a sardine can

    Andre....on my H2 it had the Bose sound system and I had to buy an adapter kit to get it work with an aftermarket head unit...doesn't matter if you soend $99 or $999 you either have to bypass and run ALL new speaker wires to each speaker or purchase the bose adapter. Sorry. Hope that helps. Been there and done it.

      Should have got the wires at the factory amp so there is no need to run wires into the doors

    • @MrBillsfishin
      @MrBillsfishin 4 роки тому +4

      Correct. If it has a factory amped system it will not work with an aftermarket radio. If there is an adapter available go that way otherwise you will need new speakers and will need to run new wires to them from the head unit.

So its hilarious when the cost of gas is every persons concern. Like dude I have 20 grand in my pocket for gas compared to your choice. If I remember correctly, I think in August 2001, I was on the Rubicon Trail and they were testing the new Hummer. It had all of the "badges" blacked out, but you could still make out letters Hummer on the back bumper. When I asked the driver about it he said he could not talk about it.. LOL. I remember seeing a lot of new shiny metal on the rocks where the Hummer had traversed. But back then it was still amazing at the time.

    It sometimes helps to not follow in track in snow. You're spinning tires on ice where everybody else got stuck. Moving over a couple inches might have helped. You may need more momentum making your own tracks, though. Hopefully y'all see this.

    I have an 03 H2 as well. I fixed my seat heaters by replacing the elements. When I pushed the heater button it would flash for a second and turn off. I ordered heating elements for a Chevy truck of the same year. Same connectors, I just pushed them under the seat covers and no problems. You can buy one set, top and bottom, and plug them in. I had to replace all for both sides to get mine to work.

    The snow you got stuck on could probably have been done. For one those mud terrains aren’t doing you any favors. Also if you give the h2 consistent throttle the traction control does a good job of distributing power eventually and pull you through.

    To diagnose the sound I would hook back up the old unit and verify sound works. If it does you know amp and wiring is still okay. Then you would only need to check the wiring from head unit and might need a different wiring connector or to use multimeter to test the output and make sure the unit is labeled right

  • @flumbertronace3597
    @flumbertronace3597 4 роки тому

    I agree with all the sound adapter comments, and I also have something to add. I replaced the radio in my 2006 Trailblazer several years ago (which also had the Bose sound system), and had the same issue. In order to get it to work, whether you use the on-star or not, it has to be plugged into something. I eventually took it to an aftermarket radio installer, and they got me the correct wiring harness to hook everything up, and it works like a charm. Hope this helps!!

    Hey Andre! A lot of people don't know this but when your in a situation like you were @ 6:50, if you feather the brakes while on the gas you can trick the front open diff into thinking both wheels have the same traction, it will lock up both fronts for you and act like locked front differential. Try it out! It's saved me a handful of times in my Sierra.
    Edit- You probably need a line output converter to make your speakers work.

  • @personator907

    I don't have experience with factory amplifiers, but when you add a sub woofer there is a signal wire to the amp that tells it when to turn on and off so it doesn't drain your battery when the head unit is off. Hopefully it's something that easy, I like the upgrade. Good luck!

    Andre i had the same issue on a 02 suburban, you have to feed 12v to the amplifier just look up what color gives power from the original radio to the amplifier and give it 12v, use ignition so you kill the amplifier when you turn the car off and dont drain the battery.

    Andre - I had an '04 Yukon with the 6.0L LQ4 with the same exhaust manifold bolt issues. Wasn't too difficult to fix - just took off the manifolds, spot-welded some nuts on the leftover threads of the broken bolts, backed them out, and replaced with new bolts (and a new set of exhaust manifold gaskets). It took an afternoon with a buddy and about $50 in new bolts and gaskets. Thankfully, I didn't have to remove the heads BUT a new/reman set of LQ4/LQ9 heads are pretty cheap, just takes a bit longer. Once fixed, it should give you at least another 100k miles of running on that nearly bulletproof LQ4/LQ9.
    As far as the audio goes, the factory unit requires routing the audio through the amp under the center console. If you bypass that with an aftermarket head unit, you either need to adapt it to run through the factory amp, run RCA outs to a new amp (and run speaker wires to that location if not at the factory amp location) OR run new speaker wires to the rear of the head. Check out Crutchfield for help - they've got adapters and experts to help get it wired up.

    I had one new way beck. Four and a half years, absolutely zero mechanical issues. The truck was an absolute beast and I loved it. Where it failed was the interior build quality. The damn thing squeaked and rattled all over inside when driving from day one. Everything felt very plastic. And not solid heavy duty, but hollow, cheap, GM starter car plastic. Another 1000 dollars on the interior finish would have gone a long way to making it fell like a premium brand. I had an 2002 F150 at the same time, and it felt better and sounded quieter inside than the H2. I can't even imagine riding in a well used one now.
