Difference between LAF & MSF: LAF: When banks possess securities over and above SLR requirements , they can opt LAF which is of 2ways ie: RBI accept and give Gsecs, from and to banks in case of Repo and Reverse Repo at a predetermined rate, respectively. MSF: When banks possess no extra security over and above SLR requirements, they should opt for MSF where interest rates are higher than Repo and Reverse repo. MSF is usually one way ie: Banks can only borrow money from RBI by giving securities.

Sir MSF is for 1 day and overnight borrow of money, to get money for 2-90 days repo rate is to be applied. So to take money on repo rate, they should lend govt securities to RBI in exchange of money on Repo interest rate as you said. So from where will they get excess govt securities here sir to borroe money for duration more than 1 day. Plz clear my doubt sir.

In the case of MSF, when the Bank possesses no extra securities, how can the bank borrow by giving secutities? 🤔As you mentioned above
