- Hardly any other technology has shaped Audi in a way like the permanent all-wheel drive. But who invented this drive technology? How did the name “quattro” make its way?
Thanks to thorough technical updating, the reputation of the quattro all-wheel driveline is today stronger and more active then ever before. ‘quattro’ stands not just for traction, but also for emotive appeal, safe driving and dynamism.

3:06 The car did a wheelie 😂
it's similar to riding on rear wheel over wavy terrain on enduro bike
So sweet name "Quattro" Audi is beautiful and good condition car. I trust in Audi cars. Best car of german good quality ❤❤❤
"Quattro" means "four" in Italian.
Thank you, Sherlock.
@@MDDeGrande1994 Prego, simpaticone.
….and Portuguese, spanish…just spelled differently
Annoying that the DPCcars logo covers part of the explaination of the Quattro system at the end of the video.
such nice history coming to an end.
0:33 what is that?
German car alway the best choice ❤❤❤😊❤❤❤
The Jensen FF is a four-wheel drive grand tourer produced by British car manufacturer Jensen Motors between 1966 and 1971. It was the first non all-terrain production car equipped with four-wheel drive and an anti-lock braking system.
The use of four-wheel drive in a passenger car preceded the successful AMC Eagle by thirteen years and the Audi Quattro by fourteen years, and the Subaru Leone by five years. The Dunlop Maxaret mechanical anti-lock braking system had previously been used only on aircraft, lorries, and racing cars. An experimental version was first fitted to the earlier Jensen C-V8, but this did not go into production.
The letters FF stand for Ferguson Formula, after Ferguson Research Ltd., who invented the car's four-wheel drive system. The FF is related to the similar-looking, rear-wheel drive Jensen Interceptor, but is 127 mm (5.0 in) longer, and mechanically very different.

Titled wrong - Audi don’t own the rights to quattro with a capital Q - all quattro’s badged with a lower case q
I always thought that thay called it "quattro" because it means "four" in italian😂
Quattro idea was Made by August Horch (founder of AUDI)

Quattro-assisting with steering since 1980🤣
transverse engine models as a3/s3/rs3, isn't really audi and neither real permanent awd, but some golf's with permanent fwd, engaging rear wheels with very poor torque, for very short period..like 1-2seconds.
I mean ..isn't fair for your clients to present a3 platform as "quattro". That quattro should represent system from cars with PERMANENT AWD (torsen, or some viscous, or even both of them..doesn't really matter).
Hakdex is A LIE and not even close as reliability and should be used eventually only in low cost products, but NEVER in premium or even SPORT high performance cars (as rs3 or golf r)
napraznicul ur just jelly
Besides idk what ur smokin but I love my Rs3 in the snow more than a new Subaru
You can also have it permanent in certain driving modes and road conditions
@@lucasmuniz5959 when your rs3 (in fact.. a vw golf with engine bay arranged as golf3 vr6 syncro) would be able to make donuts on dry tarmac, then you could name-it awd. Until that time, still remains a fwd golf with 1-2 seconds of help from rear axle. Overheated- disconnected after ONE MINUTE of pretty hard sporty driving, been set 50/50 continously with haldex manual controller😂😂. Garbage. One of my torsen works continously 50/50 from '90 and still works as new😂😂. So.. one minute versus 30 YEARS.. check yourself😂
You are talking out of your ass man. Quattro does not mean permanent AWD, it just means power transferred to 4 wheels, it can be full time or as needed basis.
Problem with Quattro is that it pushes the engine too far forward. This is where ATTESSA has the advantage. Probably why BMW's xDrive looks so similar to it.
thank you
Are you suggesting xdrive is better than Quattro?!?! If so I need what the Fuck you smoking on!
Daniel Johnson some good shit Lmaol 😂
@@danieljohnson4530 When it comes to performance he is right. Quattro AWD causes understeer
@@rangerover06sc just look up test between xdrive 4matic and Quattro, consistently Quattro out performance it’s competition, so yea No
Isn't that the same as the Mercedes 4-matic technology?
No not even close lmao
Actually there is one Audi model and one Mercedes model which share exactly the same awd system.
Summer tires on snow are a problem during descend and there you do nothing with quattro
