Maybe this is one of the reasons City beat Real Madrid so compressively. It's the first time Real have seen the double pivot De Zerbi style and, even though they are individually amazingly good players, and can beat anybody with the old style of play, it's the system that beat them, not the players
City were really good that game!
Actually in Ajax this present man u coach was using double pivot(De jong and schone)
So like 4-2-1-3 then you use an anchor man like rodri, Casemiro, Busquet and then one orchestrator like Thiago or macalister, de jong or you can also go with a box to box midfielder like kante.
And it works so well.
So one dmf would help the defenders while the other one helps in attack and defence. They beat Madrid that season too
So that's why you saw Stones staying back that day while rodri was joining the attack and also joining the defense. It's like splitting your team 2-1-7 cause your lb and rb will also join the attack. So you would have 2cbs and a dmf.
😂
He's not inspired anyone
City playing this since pep arrived
Arteta and klopp copied Pep shamelessly

Am United Fan but impressed with Brighton playing beautiful football.
We also have United Fans in our team that have been so impressed by Brighton
Today u see it first hand
As a player De Zerbi was pretty good too! He was "trequartista" (number 10 style).
Does De Zerbi play a mid-block?
Potter's departure was a blessing in disguise
Potter was good at Brighton to be fair but Chelsea just wasn't the right club for him. Still think he is a decent manager.
If Dezerbi stays here for 20 years , Brighton will become a fantastic team.
the era of managers staying for 20 years is over
Only if they can spend the money but they don't have the money so he can't do past this
Naa bro in 2 3 years club like Real madrid, Bayern psg will take him
@@NoBody33339I think he will go to a top team in England. Managing in the biggest league of the world is more satisfying than some potato league like France or Germany
@@Footballtifo yaa bro but in today's time money matters
Man City beat Man Utd using this style with Stones and Rodri as the double pivot. Gundogan got a free role to do anything. Adaptability is key.
And Pep is so good at that adaptability 👏
When the timing is right. De Zerbi will win azzuri with another world cup trophy
Unai Emery love play at the back of defense too.
This man could soon succeed guardiola to the man city throne when pep steps down after his contracts gets over
I agree with you 🙏
Good work Roberto Goodluck in your way forward
Would love to see him take over from Klopp when he decides to go……and I hope that’s not for another 10+ years
I am a culer and want to see Fati succeed at Brighton , the fact that De Zerbi relies much on the wing , it feels fati might get help.
Fati and de Zerbi is joining our beloved team at camp nou
Forza Roberto! Forza Foggia!
Paese di truffatori come lui, grande bluff tenuto vivo dalla moda Guardiola, niente a che fare con il calcio e la tattica
Never truer words uttered! GO BHA! ❤😊
First season marvel, now that all teams know, the second year is always hard
Its going well even without moises
Really good video
You say it to be controversial only, it's clear Pep is the best tactician.
Whatever you feel about City it's stupid to suggest anyone else.
Yes he requires players capable of executing his plan.
The guy turns teams strengths into weakness though.
De Zerbi just covers his own teams weaknesses pretty good.
AMAZING JOB HERE
❤️🙏
De Zerbi has already proven that he is one of the most talented coaches in the world right now. Any comparison between him and Potter is just a disrespect not only to De Zerbi but to the game.
Nice!
Video is wrong about pundits. When Souness said de Zerbi was a risk because he doesn't know our game, he meant he had no experience working in the Premier League. This is nothing to do with nationality, in fact an English manager has never won the Premier League.
You might be right. However, when Gerrard got the Villa-job, Souness wasn’t at all critical - even if Gerrard didn't have the experience either from managing in the Premier League.
And when Gerrard got sacked at Villa, Souness wished Villa had given him some time. Souness then argued that Gerrard could follow the Claudio Ranieri example (with a lot of clubs) and dust himself off and go again, even though his comments a week earlier about Roberto De Zerbi where he questioned the amount of jobs on his CV.
Strange example. Gerrard has incredible experience in the English game, particularly as a player, he also did some other jobs at Liverpool. I don't think de Zerbi had experience in the UK. If Gerrard were to become manager of say Milan pundits might say it's a risk because Gerrard doesn't understand the Italian game or the Italian language. I doubt Souness is being xenophobic in his punditry.
@@zzzzoijzzzzz as Gerrard and Lampard have shown us, playing and managing in PL is so different that the player experience has nothing to say. There has been a culture for British pundits, including Souness, to give British manager MUCH more slack than foreigners. Ask Marco Silva and Claudio Ranieri. Even though none of the tactical innovations in the PL has come from English managers, and Sir Alex and Sir Kenny is the only successful from Brittain. Steve McClaren described this phenomen "The Island Mentality", and it's spot on!
I think you're probably right. When I first watched this video I thought it was harsh on Souness. I think it's a fair argument that there is risk in appointing a manager with no Prem experience, even though it turns out de Zerbi did very well.
@@zzzzoijzzzzz
Did Mourinho, Pep, Mancini or Ancelotti has any prior EPL experience?
They all generally speaking, won the EPL within 1-2 years.
British pundits definitely do not prefer British managers...they prefer winning managers
Not sure Phil Thompson, Paul Merson and Greame Souness agrees with you. As Merson said himself: "Marco Silva won the Greek league with Olympiakos? I could have won the Greek League with Olympiakos".
twitter.com/WeahsCousin/status/827978096452198400?s=20
Island mentality.
@@EnglandFootballReview2022 uve cherry picked the biggest plum out of all the pundits 😂
Every pundit is aware that no English manager has won the prem and I'd actually say that there is a feeling amongst them (and supporters tbh) that runs in exact opposition to ur comment, as a nation we under estimate our managers, yes Potter and howe have slightly broken the mould but ur living in cloud cuckoo land if u think pundits are advocating for English managers...just look at the list of overseas managers in the prem (and championship) and say we're an inward looking country...very daft comment
@@tomwilko7841 But it's not just the punits that turns back to "the good old English or British managers". Look at the relegation battle? Dean Smith, Sam Allardyce and Sean Dyche was hired to "save" the clubs... And 100 years old Hodgon replaced Vieria at Palace. We tried to reflect on this matter in this video: ua-cam.com/video/X8Yl-PEFb2Y/v-deo.html
Why England doesn't develop top managers anymore.
British pundit's don't normally prefer British managers, they prefer the best managers. Graham Suaness has a lot of hot takes which spark discussion but he doesn't speak for the other pundits, and that's good for tv
The lack of critic when he spoke about Gerrard and Lampard was shocking 🫣
4:09 is the referee playing for Brighton too?
Addition of Ansu Fati and growth of Enciso will only make Brighton stronger
Think so too! 🤝
Can't wait de zerbi coaching real Madrid
Amazing manager. Would love him at United after ETH
Totally agree!!
And then, David Moyes' West Ham thrash his Brighton side 1-3
If you watched the match it could have ended 6-3 lucky they took their chances clinically
How can you say De Zerbi inspire man city whilst De Zerbi says l became coach because of Pep. Before his first game in Epl he asked for guidance from Pep
ua-cam.com/video/Ul-UXMtr8Fc/v-deo.html
This is why :)
Winning is all that matters, eh? Ask Pep!
Italian managers are still the best in football
Well except allegri from juve
Pretty sure Arteta did it before Dezerbi came to PL ; against Liverpool.
And pretty sure Pep definitely copied RDZ. That is why he always stays on top. Pep isn't afraid to change to keep on winning.
l'antitesi del CAGON/ALLEGRI 😅🤣
Luton Brighton 4-0, Fulham Brighton 3-0. Great tactician.
You don't know football 😂😂😂, Teams would humble you, ask gaudiola what happened to him in Spain, Germany and even with city, no matter how good you are you would get beaten, that's why it's called football.

I really get where you driving with this, watch when he was at Sharter donetski how dey fair in Europe.
Plus chelsea really need a hands on coach, I know we can't win the league in the next 2 years but we need a coach not just a manager,Rdz would do a perfect job.
Eddie Howe did them up like a kipper towards the end of the season. HWTL!
Eddie Howe and Newcastle had such a great season!! Happy for you :)
We rested r best players to guarantee a win against Southampton to get us European football and we played for a draw and r cb was injured for the last two goals
There’s never been a great English manager in the prem. There really shouldn’t be a bias for English coaches😂😂.
Sir alex is British just not English lol
Sir Edward Howe took a relegated team to 4th in 1 year. Sew what happens this season
Only Howe.. If English managers want to be great then they must coach outside the UK like Will Still and rake in experience
@efootball @pes @konami needs some serious updating aft this update of tactics 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I use 3241 though with cross specialists on the wings. Haalnd in CF😂
He will replace Arteta at Arsenal if
Arteta fails to win the league in two years
You'll might be right! We'll remember your comment if he does 🤝

Chelsea tries to steel brightons potter and we missed up ended 12th premeirleague. Dnt try this unless your club will suffer the same sequences.
He would be perfect for this Real Madrid team with Camavinga tchouameni, Bellingham as a 10. Vinicius Rodrygo. Madrid would thrive under De Zerbi. He's next big Italian manager after Carlo Ancelotti and would be a perfect replacement.
Graeme Sourness’ opinion must always be taken with a kilo of salt lmao
I think we all can agree on that 😅
@@EnglandFootballReview2022 hahah one of the few things which unite all supporters 🤣
No one wants to play the British game when last a British manager win the premier league
Sir Alex Ferguson was the last British manager back in 2013, but since the Premier League was founded - no English manager has won it. All big tactical innovations in England has come from outside of England.
@@EnglandFootballReview2022 how is he a British manager if he is from Scotland?
@@wolfyftw4617 Because United Kingdom of Great Britain also includes Scotland.
@@leoleonhardsen3628 so Wales and Northern Ireland are also known as British?
@@wolfyftw4617 When referring to someone as "British," it typically includes people from Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, in addition to those from England. The term "British" is used to describe individuals or things associated with the United Kingdom, which consists of these four countries. While Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have devolved governments and some degree of autonomy within the UK, they are still considered part of the broader British identity. However, it's important to note that some individuals from these countries may also identify primarily with their national or regional identities (e.g., Scottish, Welsh, or Northern Irish) rather than solely as "British."
Just to clarify our point :)
City's next Manager after pep look out Brighton city coming for your man😂
Would be perfect!
I really support him as Man City's next manager.
amazing analysis on one of the brighest football minds in recent times..hopefully he replaces EtH sooner rather than later, he is the one to revive United
Thanks for the kind words 🙏
There's too much of a circus at the hierarchical level at M United. Besides, their recruitment policy sucks too....
Unless he's playing Everton 😂😂😂
And newcastle😁
If de zerbi is the best tactican then why he isn’t winning trophies dude😅
Look at the team he's managing and the budget dude
Sir Edward Howe is 💯 the best tactician in the prem
Wow, that season by The Magpies and Howe 👏👏👏
I mean...come on...we know who THE best is
Yes, we do 🙏 we'll be covering him a lot in the future, but it's worth noticing when Guardiola calls out De Zerbi as one of the most innovative and tactical influental managers in the last 20 years 🤝
Greek farmers say otherwise.
His philosophy is similar to Wenger
*tactician
pundits? experts? Good that they have a career after football with their mouth
Why call he best ? .. Just wait 3 years then make judgment
You're right! Guardiola might be the best ever? But Pep also called De Zerbi one of the most influencial manager in the last 20 years, not a bad thing to hear from Pep :)
is this an AI made video?
only 2 coach best of the best, PEP VS de ZERBI.
Brighton management will do him wrong. Soon enough
Brighton will get found out next season
No he's not for fuvk sake, he's good but doesn't make him the best, and open your eyes about what other managers did under whichever conditions. I know everyone wants to point out the next great.
He made Pep change the way he plays lol
He's fucking amazing lol
If Roberto De Zerbi has proven Johan Cruijff wrong, then why is he not winning titles for Brighton and Hove Albion?😂
Is that the same thing? :)
So that's why they got destroyed by Everton 😂
Yeah, fair point 😅 but did you watch that game? 😳
Goals and (xG):
Brighton (2.76) 1-5 (2.30) Everton
What's wrong with British coaches? They're behind in tactics. Their own league is being dominated by foreign coaches.
Nothing seems to be wrong with Eddie Howe that's for sure
AVERAGE COMMERCIAL BUT IT WON'T WORK TOTTENHAM ALREADY HAVE THERE MANAGER done deal
Average clown marketing coach 👍👍
Next Chelsea fc manager.
In Italy de zerbi in nothing in tactics
A high quick press catches them out every time.
It’s funny how English media like to downplay foreign manager when their managers get loads of hype and there is no real English managers ohh there is Sam Roy, their only English manager with actually potential always been Eddie since he came to premier league 😂😂😂
Spot on!
Brighton have never won against Manchester City -
No, he just copied bielsa
"Coaches are rarerly the source of information. We always adapt or take ideas from each others. It is how we deliver the message that makes us unique". - Marcelo Bielsa
@@EnglandFootballReview2022 Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi admits former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is one of his "favourite" coaches and he watched a lot of their games during his tenure at the club.
The Italian has previously said the Argentinian was a big influence on him when cultivating his own coaching style, he reportedly wanted to end a post-match interview with Sky Italia when he was at Sassuolo as he wanted to 'watch Bielsa’s Leeds on TV', and in 2017, De Zerbi was invited to spend a week studying his methods when the ex-Atletico Bilbao boss was at French side Lille.
@@adarbarrush At the end of their careers, you'll see how De Zerbi's one will be much better than the Bielsa one
@@acojone6110 de zerbi may have ,or not, more success in terms of trophies, , but in terms of influencing managers, there are plenty of top class managers, like guardiola, that were influenced and praise bielsa, as de zerbi also admitted
If ten hag ever leaves, de zebri is the man i want
Nah, Glazers Manchester United would cripple and would erode his ability to coach to at his full capacity
I think he is overatted. He build on a very good foundation set up by Graham Potter. Time will tell. remember my words..
He took a team the couldn’t score goals nor keep possession and made them one of the hardest teams to play against, Potter didn’t turn these players good, Potter wouldn’t have played Mitoma, Pep sung the praise of De Zerbi, not Potter. But go off i guess
Souness played an amateur player while he was coaching Southampton. His opinions are clearly irrelevant.
LOL HE DIDNT inspire Many city or Arsenal those clubs especially Arsenal have been playing fantastic football long before De zerbi even started coaching. And Pep has been around longer than De zerbi if anything he's picked up from these teams and made his own tactics out of them. Stop spewing garbage lol
You're right in your first statement :) However:
Managers inspire and steal ideas from each other and will continue to do that. Has De Zerbi learned more and been more inspired by Guardiola, rather than vice versa? Yes!
Has Guardiola and Arteta been inspired by the way De Zerbi uses 2 pivots? Also yes!
So, how did a small unfunded team like Brighton beat Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool? Was it because they have man to man better players (which obviously isn't true) or was it the system?
@@dacutler Its the system yes. But baiting the press and using double pivots is a concept both Arteta and Pep have been using before. Arteta even uses Zinchenko-Partey as the pivot this season. The real bit of innovation and where De Zerbi deserves a lot of credit is using a 2-4-4/2-4-2-2 shape in build up rather than a 2-3-5/3-2-5. It completely bamboozles traditional pressing patterns set up to press 5 players rather than 6. The numerical advantage means they can recycle the ball constantly in build up till the right moment appears. It will be interesting to see how managers try to counter it next season.
@@scottmescudi9630 Pep was interesting when he was praising De Zerbi recently. It wasn't only the way the ball was moved forwards to create an attack. It was the TMINING involved in doing so. In that way, according to Pep, Brighton are the best in the world. Now, that seems to me to be a biut excessive, but I kinda think he is right. It's the timing, not just the action that creates space and overload.
@@dacutler 😅
No plan B.
Souness is a fool
