I hope that more people will find this gem since Earthbound is now playable on Nintendo Switch Online. This captures the feeling of the track very well, it sounds like being bored in paradise
Summers is a great place, Threed is awesome, a nice challenge. My personal favourite is Fourside. So much power, so many possibilities. I am not particularly fond of the sewers, but otherwise it's a great place.
I think this is my first ever UA-cam comment, but I had to say something. This is seriously one of the best video game covers I've ever heard. I didn't even really appreciate the song back when I was playing through Earthbound. It wasn't really until you covered it that I realized I loved it. Thanks for the song, incredible work & amazing talent! Hope to hear more Earthbound tracks from you in the future!
+Michael Gustafson Wow! Thank you for all of the kind compliments (and for the fact that this is your first YT comment!). I think the EarthBound soundtrack stands alone as a complete work of art. There's so much there- all kinds of different styles and musical references to different periods of music and artists. I will definitely make more EarthBound covers in the future :). I just posted a cover of the Dusty Dunes Desert theme if you're interested. (I hope this comment reaches you- I've had trouble trying to reply to you for some reason)
+UTAUxyz Thank you very much for your kind comment! Every now and then someone mentions something like this. I am totally thankful and grateful for the views and subscribers I have. Pretty much every one of my videos with over 1k views is a result of it being shared by people and/or websites. However, I think I am going to work harder on getting my work out there in 2016 in hopes that more people can enjoy it :). By the way, interesting channel. I'd never heard of "Utau" before. Up until now I've only really heard of the mainstream "Vocaloid".
Good luck, your work certainly deserves the extra attention! Considering the games you've covered so far, I'd consider cross-posting some videos to Nicovideo, I bet the Japanese audience over there would LOVE it. And thanks for the visit to my channel! UTAU certainly has its roots in Vocaloid, and a lot of us often cover Vocaloid original music using it. UTAU is essentially just a free alternative that allows for open voice-library development; anyone can record samples for voicebank of their own to use in the synth, & sharing banks with other UTAU users is encouraged. It's pretty fun!
Triforcefilms Thanks! I like that idea :). I'm going to try to cover it sometime this summer! I really like that song and I think I have the instruments (and hopefully ability!) to pull it off :). PS: Love your videos!
The severe lack of subsribers you don't have is disgusting. You deserve *much* more than this, considering the amount if work you had to pull off for this. You're incredibly underrated. Regardless, excellent work!
Thank you so much for the kind comment! I'm very grateful for the amount of views and subscribers I currently have, but as more and more people share what I do I've noticed that even my older videos get more views, which I am very grateful for. Again, thank you for the comment!
+SuperDizzy12 Thank you :D. One of my goals when creating music is to make something that can stand repeated listenings, so I'm happy to read that! Paula's theme is something that I've wanted to do forever and ever. I definitely plan to take my time on that one so I can capture all of the nuances- I'm planning on taking cues from the EarthBound Beginnings version of the song as well as the EarthBound version. If I do that one, it might be sometime early next year :).
this game means a lot to me. I played it when I was a kid and I'm replaying it for the 16th time lately. wouldn't mind if you did more of the earthbound stuff- that game has such awesome music already! really awesome job capturing that earthbound vibe in your music man! keep on rockin.
Thanks for watching! Actually, this video has received many more views this year than it did last year-- I guess more and more people are starting to share what I do, which I'm very grateful for.
Thanks for the kind comment! I haven't heard that one by Beck, I'll have to check it out. And I agree~ I remember searching all through the Summers area the first time I played through the game, searching for something more.
Steven Morris check it out! It has that lazy feeling of being out in a sunny day, im checking out your great work, I hope I dont bother you with leaving my comments and opinions hahaha
wow.... this is perfect.... this is just for a movie on television.... such as ..... joe's summer holidays!!!!! amazing.... i liked it so so so much really
It took me ages to be able to get my snare brushes in time enough for recording, so I'm massively impressed by the variety of instruments you just pick up and rhythmically nail. Amazing work.
Soundole VGM Covers Thank you :D I think I've learned a lot about music by picking up different instruments. A really popular book is called "Stick Control". A lot of drummers use it, but it's possible to adapt it for other percussion or even pitched instruments.
Fine Fine Fine song my dear friend. This makes my day. Love it with my headset. Lovely mix and great sound. And Yes it is Summer. Thanks my dear friend. Wish you all the best. Greetings From Atti
***** Thank you! I'm glad you listened on headphones. For this tune, I recorded most of the sounds in stereo (even the snare!!!). My field recordings, too, are all in stereo! Thanks for all of your kind comments.
I really, really need to play this game. The soundtrack is so good. Superb job on this btw. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up on a couple playlists ;)
GameLark Remixes Thanks! And yes! You have to play this game someday. If there is a translated version of the interviews between Shigesato Itoi and Keichi Suzuki & Hirokazu Tanaka (the principal composers), you might want to check that out as well :)
Awesome cover! Seriously, how does this not have millions of views? Could tell me the Ukulele chords? If you don't mind, I'd like to try 'em out. Great job again! :D
Thank you for the kind comment :). Shares help a lot with these kinds of videos, so if you know some people who might enjoy it please let them know! As for the Uke chords, I'm not really a Uke player, but the fingerings of the chords are X222, X211 (verse) and X000, X035, X000, followed by 0-2-3-5 on the top string (chorus). I don't know if those are standard Uke chords, but that's what fit best with the other parts. Hope that helps!
Thanks for your dedication to making such amazing covers. I know it's a TON of work to make videos like this and it's clear you do it because you're passionate about the games and the music, not for the views.
Thank you C-Threep!! You're right-- a lot of these videos take so much work to put together. EarthBound a game that is very special to me though, so it's always worth it :). I've always liked Summers as well~ making this cover was a great excuse to get out to the beach and record some different sounds and stuff. I'm also a big fan of recording various acoustic instruments, so this was a great opportunity to do that as well! Thanks again for watching :)
Wow! This is amazing! Great playing! I can tell you put a lot of effort in your videos! This is soooo good. I love the extra beach footage playing. Awesome stuff!!!!
+Dillon Aubin Thank you very much :). I do not have any Super Metroid yet- as of this message, I only have one Metroid cover: SR388 from Metroid II: Return of Samus. There may be more to come ;). After all, I'm a big fan of Metroid and its music!
This to me is the best arrangement of this song on youtube, nice job! I really like the ukulele which makes it feel more calming and the congas are a really great addition, plus nice job on the conga panning, I love that the left drum is primarily in the left earbud. The recorder and melodica substituting for the brass was actually really nice, they sound so nice together that I may have to use them in a composition of my own sometime. The instrument playing the melody has the same wavering effect like the original did and I love that, I also detect some warm pad playing the melody which is nice (in my opinion warm pad is the best synth). I'm not the biggest fan of solos overall in any piece of music so I wasn't particularly interested but they were still nice. Not sure if you were planning this but I think the color of the shirt you were wearing combined with the overall color of your studio kind of added to the experience? Not sure how to describe it but I just felt like the color pallet of the video made it nicer lol. As for my favorite area in the game I'd have to say playing as Jeff in winters was the best part. It was a nice change of pace from Threed and although the circumstances of it were pretty important, I felt like I could take my time in that part and I quite enjoyed it. tl;dr this is a good video and keep up the good work!!!
Thank you for checking out my music :). I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the beach footage that I got! It was actually fun to film that stuff-- I also did a lot of field recordings of various sounds by the beach that I included in the mix as well. Planning on doing some more like that as well!
Yolo Swaggins Thanks! I'm going to keep on making covers :). I'll eventually get back to some Earthbound covers as well! There are still so many I want to do :D
Yup! I got really into it for this track-- If you have a pair of headphones, there is some fun stuff that happens starting @2:25. The idea was to create a 'sound collage' solo. Thanks again for checking out my videos!

Thank you! And how cool :). Actually, some of the water sounds are field recordings that I got on various beaches-- but most of the wave noises came from Crystal Cove in Newport Beach.
This is one of my favorite autistic covers!
autis
Autistic 💀
ACOUSTIC NOT AUTISTIC 😭
"Welcome to Summers! Where the sky is a pretty blue, and with prices so high, your face will turn blue! That's Summers!"
bet they can't be as blue as happy happy village
but be careful with taxis and signs as they are kind of dangerous
Just don’t eat the magic cake, unless if you want to have some insanely vivid dreams.
I just found a UA-camr with the same name as me AND he likes Earthbound too?
Wow. What a coincidence.
whattt hoooow???
steven morris gang rise up
I hope that more people will find this gem since Earthbound is now playable on Nintendo Switch Online. This captures the feeling of the track very well, it sounds like being bored in paradise
1:05 I was waiting for that recorder.
I adore this! Can't stop listening, great job!
Thank you!
Woah don't expect to see you here!
Summers is one of my favorite areas of EarthBound!! What is one of yours?
Steven Morris winters
Steven Morris Threed
Summers is a great place, Threed is awesome, a nice challenge. My personal favourite is Fourside. So much power, so many possibilities. I am not particularly fond of the sewers, but otherwise it's a great place.
+billielith Yes Moonside
Summer's and Threed are some of my favorites. Winters is also up there.
I think this is my first ever UA-cam comment, but I had to say something. This is seriously one of the best video game covers I've ever heard. These arrangements really give it an Animal Crossing feel. Awesome!

MOTHER2(Earthbound)は最高の名作ですね!
So many instruments, so much effort. You deserve so many more views. 10/10, for real.
lacoot Thank you!! I'm glad you liked it. Every like, share, and comment helps and is very much appreciated :)
Just got to Orlando after a 7 month winter in Michigan, jammed this when I got here
i love that organ
Only a helping of Magic Cake can invoke such a lazy, lovely groove.
Seriously, how do you not have like tens of thousands of views/subscribers? Your work is incredible!
+UTAUxyz Thank you very much for your kind comment! Every now and then someone mentions something like this. I am totally thankful and grateful for the views and subscribers I have. Steven Morris sounds great, gramps!
Damn, this makes me thirsty for umbrella drinks! Amazing performance and great sound, such joy to listen to!
***** Thanks for the compliments. LOL@ Umbrella drinks! That's quite a feeling to evoke :D.
This is so chill, Great work Dude! I would love to hear you do a cover of Costa De Sol from FFVII someday.
Triforcefilms Thanks! I like that idea :). I'm going to try to cover it sometime this summer! I really like that song and I think I have the instruments (and hopefully ability!) to pull it off :). PS: Love your videos!
Thanks alot dude!
Dadgum these covers are fantastic
The paradise which never ends
Holy shit this instrumentation is next level
Sad i missed out on years of your talent but so happy i found this track! Amazing job!
This cover reminds me of persona for sone reason! I love it!
it's jazzy
I listen to this everytime im at the beach.
i got that same recorder from my old school
The severe lack of subsribers you don't have is disgusting. You deserve *much* more than this, considering the amount if work you had to pull off for this. You're incredibly underrated.

I just found this, man I have been missing out! You are talented keep it up
Instant stress relief.
This guys deserves more views
Summers! EARTHBOUND FTW!
This is so awesome! Listening to your music now as I work. Thanks so much for connecting with me here! :)
Thank you~ Good to see you again btw. Will be watching your channel from now on :)
0:15 okay, this is fucking sick
Bro, this is completely beautiful
ahhh... never get tired of covers of this song
I listen to this all the time, one of my favorite areas and songs from the game.
*chills* my favorite track on the game. Super awesome cover. No Ness pun intended lol. (Man this is great!)
Amo Summers
I want this on an hour loop, I want Paula's Theme, I want I want... Simply put, you really captured Summers' theme with this cover, and I love it.
+SuperDizzy12 Thank you :D. One of my goals when creating music is to make something that can stand repeated listenings, so I'm happy to read that! good music i think its even better then the original music
YES ITS ON ITUNES
It's on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Play, Deezer, Facebook Music (!?), some sort of Canadian Instagram -- Summer will never end again
Your jazz dungeon cover from LttP brought me back here.
That's awesome to hear! I'm glad you're enjoying my covers :) Thank you!!
So rad, dude. Good work.
+C-Threep Thanks for checking out my covers! I really enjoyed making this one in particular :).
The live action stuff nails it!
absolutely lovely cover!!!

Awesome! It really captures the feeling of being at the beach, reminds me of "deadweight" by beck. Its a shame summers is a small area
You're right~! It has similar instrumentation :) I appreciate your comments btw!
thank you steven!
演奏も背景も素晴らしいです(^^)
Kentarou Chabo ありがとうございます!マザーシリーズにはいい音楽がいっぱいありますよね〜「サマーズ」はもしかしたらソロギターで引けるのかもしれません。
For a moment I thought I was in a real beach. Great work man!
Thank you! Hearing that makes me very happy-- that was my goal when I was working on getting the field recordings for this project ♫
This literally deserves to have millions of views. Wow.
いいですねぇ。サマーズはいかにもお金持ちの避暑地って感じが出ててとても印象的ですね。波の音まで録音されてる!
I took an arrow in the knee.
wow.... this is perfect.... this is just for a movie on television.... such as ..... joe's summer holidays!!!!! amazing.... i liked it so so so much really
I love you work, Steven Morris
Thank you Alejandro!
This is the cover I've always wanted 😍
I'm currently in Summers now! Started playing the game a few weeks back.
WOW. Steven this is absolutely perfect. I love everything about it. Can never get enough EarthBound. Keep it up! :D
Thanks Michelle! I always have EarthBound music on my list :). It's just a matter of spacing it out so I don't become EarthBound-exclusive :P
It took me ages to be able to get my snare brushes in time enough for recording, so I'm massively impressed by the variety of instruments you just pick up and rhythmically nail. Amazing work.

+Kirk Woodrum Thanks for watching! And I'll definitely do that :D
Really nice! Impressive playing on all those instruments
subversiveasset Thanks! My wife is learning Alto Sax and I wanted her to join in on the "brass" section. Maybe next time ;).
MOAR EARTHBOUND, I LOVE IT KEEP GOING! SUBBED!

Wow, that was better than the original, nicely done man!
Bravo!!
Thanks!
wow you're a G for this!
You seriously field recorded a beach? Biosphere would be proud! Such good work.
Yup! I got really into it for this track-- If you have a pair of headphones, there is some fun stuff that happens starting @2:25. The idea was to create a 'sound collage' solo. Thanks again for checking out my videos!
Chill.
god this is so good & relaxing... thank you! and subscribed~ ^^
+Jemy I'm glad you like it! Thanks for watching & subscribing :). Subbed you back BTW! You have a great channel♫
+Steven Morris arigato! u too what an amazing musical channel u have :) will u up for collab in near future? think that would be fun ;)

Great job on covering these video game songs! Can you cover "Aquatic Ambience" from Donkey Kong Country?
+steve m. Thank you! I put Aquatic Ambience on my list and will hopefully get to it someday soon, my fellow Steven M. ;)

Was this filmed in Santa Barbara?
Close! It was filmed in Huntington Beach (except for the boats which were filmed in San Fransisco). Thanks for watching :)
Oh wow, that's not too far where I live! I have to visit there now. Thanks, and thank you for the video! Keep it up :)
Thank you! And how cool :). Actually, some of the water sounds are field recordings that I got on various beaches-- but most of the wave noises came from Crystal Cove in Newport Beach.
