@Jetfixer2.0 so what do you suggest? To say 'sod it, I give up', or rather do my est to understand how it works and try to adjust my listings to it? Nothing is perfect, including ebay. Bit we have to work with what we've got, or pack our thing and go. I've got another salsa desert today, just as I've thought I'm over with them. Will that prevent me from doing my best? No, I'll carry on.

@Jetfixer2.0 what i have found out over the last year is and item could come up and could not depending on the drop down menu if you search by best match it might come up but if you search highest to lowest or lowest to highest plus shipping the item may not come up and vise versa there is no rhyme or reason as to why it will or will not show up its something we all have to just deal with with the new eBay at least until enough sellers complain about search and enough buyers leave because of the broken search (sorry because this is happening search is broken) like you said if you search for something it should come up period ebay should not use there ALGo to manipulate search

Now I understand why Ebay’s revenue is going down over time. They are doing it to themselves with their own algorithm lol. They don’t show buyers all available listings but instead use AI to pick and choose VS Amazon who shows buyers 10 pages of search results even if the items don’t exactly match the search. As usual Amazon is doing it right and Ebay is clueless.

One of the reocurring problems of eBay is... it manipulates the views by controlling what the buyers see through recommendations. Yes, it is eBay's playing ground, and we have no say-so even though we pay a monthly subscription.

Your second sentence is all the proof that eBay would build a PL and eIS funneling system if they could, and funnel sales to sellers that stand to make them the most money, even if the product or experience is inferior for the buyer... you are getting warmer...

@@zachariah7114 I am not computer literate, but I have observed that the reason why sellers are more successful than others, it is not because of their item, it is because eBay manipulates the sells on its platform, which is an unethical practice in the reselling profession and grossly unfair to the buyer. I noticed most times I do a feedback survey, I shortly get rewarded with a sale....simple manipulation

Paying for a store and then ebay blocking those paid listings sounds ILLEGAL. If you put an ad in the newspaper or magazine and they charge you, then purposely leave your ad out of the publication, thats fraud 🤷‍♀️ Also, I had my first return in about 7 years. The item was ran over and broken by USPS. Literal tire track over the tiny package. The buyer started a return which I immediately accepted. It took several days for them to throw it in the mail, then nearly 2 weeks to get back to me. I was not allowed to make any offers and I did not make ANY sales in that time. However, within TWO HOURS of my refunding the buyer, I had available offers and began making sales again. So for an item that was broken in the mail and returned, I was punished for 3 entire weeks. 25 years of 100% positive feedback, this is how I was treated. Abysmal.

    • @hayfro
      @hayfro  5 місяців тому

in instances like that I just refund the buyer and say keep the item. I don't want an item back after I ship it especially if it's broken. in the instances of returns do you wait to refund the buyer until you physically get it back. if so maybe that is the hold up the algorithm punishes sellers for. i've never noticed anything like that but you aren't the first to hint about being punished.

My business is essentially a storage biz. Vintage clothing isn't ever going to sell in 2 days. But it might. You never know. Ebay has done this to sellers AND buyers via Cassini. Prior to Cassini I could auction clothing and make a lot of money. Now I'd never use the auction format anymore. I've talked to many buyers and they are leaving the platform if they'd ever used it to start with. Younger buyers don't even care about Ebay. Little wonder Ebay is bleeding buyers like crazy.

EBay would still only allow you to sell so many iPhones per day, even with receipts and everything else.
This is a known thing...they slowly scale your store over a long period of time.
This is because they don't want buyers getting a bunch of undeliverable items. If you listed 150 iPhones in one day, they'll let you sell a few rhe first day, a few the next, etc.
As you mentioned... unfortunately began writing this before i finished the video.

    1. It's not about items. If at least one of any kind of items sells daily on ebay, it can be your sale. It's about forcing algo to sell your item over anybody else. I'm sourcing items that 99% of resellers wouldn't touch with the broom stick. And I'm selling them.
    2. I've been preaching about feedback and defects for a while. I'll tell you something else. Since Friday, I can see interesting pattern. As soon, as I get a positive feedback, I get a sale very soon after. Or at least, I get an influx of watchers. It's too short period of time, to say it for sure, but literally, it was slapping me in my face two three times a day since Friday. I get a sale, I go and check my feedback, and surely there's a new one there. I'm literally uploading the video right now, where I mention it.
    3. Coupons, and all the other things like mark down sales and stuff show algorithm that you're trying to make a sale. In my opinion they help with the visibility a lot. It's all the small things that add up at the end of the day. I've got good experience with coupons. Literally a dozen of sales week in, week out.
    Good video mate.

I've heard differing points of view regarding sizes XL-5XL. For me personally, I'd check sellthrough rates for those sizes in the item. Generally I can still sell size 3XL pretty well, 4XL and up are hit or miss. Sometimes they sell well and sometimes I sit on them. The other issue I have is with those sizes 4XL and up, I get way more lowballers than the other sizes. Not sure why. But I hear some people swear those sizes sell great. I will say the talls in those sizes (4XLT, 5XLT, etc) do much better than regular 4XL or 5XL.
Also, not sure where the thrift store got them from, but if they were donated from a store like Marshalls or something I would definitely look up sellthrough because they might be super saturated. Generally Dixxon is a good brand so why did they have so many.

32:28 and its 1000% why they are losing buyers and they are also losing buyers because since taking over payments from PayPal they have made it almost impossible for buyers to combine multiple items into one order/shipment when with PayPal it never was an issue you could sell 10 $3 items all day long you get 3 orders like that its $90 dollar day Not anymore! why is that because ebay NOW makes money on the transaction via the transaction fee so which method would they want to make more impossible for the buyer to do order 10 $3 items in one order where ebay is only making .40 for the transaction fee or 10 separate $3 orders where ebay is going to make $4 in transaction fees??? yep you guest it they are going to Make the 10 $3 items in one order WAY WAY more difficult to near impossible for a buyer to do because there NOT making the same revenue like they would on 10 separate orders this is a HUGE reason buyers are leaving the platform and EBAY does not care ONE iota

@@hayfroThis is all backwards thinking. If you have a low-STR item but someone searches for it, it will be shown. It’s just that the searches don’t happen that often for low-STR items.
People seem to think that eBay funnels its traffic randomly, as if saying, “Okay, you’ve got the hottest Jordans listed , so we’re going to throw you 10,000 impressions for those shoes, whether anyone searches for them or not.”
No. eBay waits for someone to make a search, then they try to target the buyer with best-match listings, which unfortunately hasn’t been very efficient lately.
eBay doesn’t grant traffic based on STR. The traffic happens organically, as high STR items get more searches. The algo doesn’t “like” either type.
The algo likes good service metrics and sellers who have a good track record of click-thru and conversion within their categories.
If you can succeed in these two areas, you can sell whatever you like.

I say it again - I still dont get why someone just doesn't copy ebay's formula right off, almost shamelessly (but eBay deserves it) - and makes a slick looking modern site - doing everything "right". For example fixing all stuff sellers have been asking for for years, not allowing crap like this, they don't even need a feedback system, just keep the stars they have on eBay, for example, and so on. Bad sellers and buyers will get blasted anyway by ppl contacting support, reports etc. Sellers will go there immediately and buyers will follow. I just dont get it why some rich guy, investor or whatever, a "mini-elon musk", doesnt do it. Its like open goal at the moment, an easy opportunity to become a multi millionare. eBay can be crushed so easily at this point, sooo easily. Then they can sit there alone with their shitty-anti seller system and ask themselves what went wrong, id*ots.
