the ending is so emotional, one of the best in the series. Learning to say goodbye to Kiryu now feels so hard.. Dude went through so much hell. He's an icon
the final chapter of gaiden is my favorite across the series . i am really looking forward to see what RGG has been cooking with Y8 , the demo was super fun and the combat is already 10 times better than Y7 . Kiryu and Ichiban together in America and it probably being Kiryu's last game has me hyped like hell for the story ! i wonder if we will get a team Amon fight , like 2 or 3 or hell even 4 Amons fighting the gang at the same time would be insane with the new combat .
@@manfredstorm7599 Yeah, it's currently one of my favorite too. I'm really curious if there will be story chapters in Y8 if whether we will play as Kiryu leading his own party members because from the demo and info we got, it seems like it's mainly Ichiban being the lead character. Maybe there will be more trailers that will show that. I'm just really hyped up to experience what RGG is planning for Y8. The new setting really open up whole new scenarios. For amon, maybe we'll either get 2, each for Ichiban and Kiryu but perhaps those 2 will join together to fight us again, idk lol
hmm I think that might be just the demo honestly, as in the story demo you do move around as Kiryu for a bit@@samuel.jpg.1080p,anyways regardless I think we'll see Ichiban more as the story is focused on him so we'll probably play him more too
@@somerandomskywalker9854there is a scene in the trailer where kiryu is leading the party to the former tojo hq and ichiban isn't with them so i do think there will be sections where they'll be doing their own separate missions
@@samuel.jpg.1080p I’ve seen stuff where Kiryu is separate from Ichiban leading his own party. Also from the cover art you can tell this game is about both Kiryu and Ichiban, so we will definitely get a decently large size section of Kiryu leading the group which is awesome
Gaiden is honestly a top 3 Yakuza game for me. They did SO well with every aspect of it. I hope we get more Gaiden titles in the future focusing on fleshing out stories, filling in gaps, and spotlighting side characters. I'd love to see what characters like Akiyama, Shinada, Tanimura, etc are up to.
I didn’t like Gaiden that much, but I really enjoyed everything past the point of no return. It’s worth noting that I didn’t do any side-stories, so I probably missed out on a lot of fun there. The thing that bothered me about most of the story though is that a lot of it doesn’t make much sense. Yakuza 6 ended with Kiryu making a deal with the Daidoji. They used their influence to fake his death so nobody knows he’s alive so people will stop targeting his family. Fair enough. Fast forward to Gaiden, the Daidoji are sending Kiryu, possibly the most famous Yakuza in the country, out on field missions. When he is *inevitably* identified out in the field, the Daidoji claim that KIRYU is in violation of their contract and he has to murder everyone who saw him or they’ll hurt the orphanage? But like… first of all it’s the Daidoji’s fault that Kiryu was discovered. They were forcing him to do missions that could cause him to be noticed. They’re the ones violating his contract. Second, the whole reason the Daidoji caved to Kiryu’s demands is that he is too powerful for the Daidoji to deal with. When they initially threatened the orphanage in the hospital, Kiryu said something like, “I’m sure you’ve done your research. You know what happens to people who hurt my family.” That made them cave to Kiryu’s demands. Not to mention that Kiryu has all sorts of dirt on them. None of this is really a problem in a vacuum. “Do what we say or we’ll hurt your family” is a tried and true formula for a story. It’s just that it doesn’t really mesh with what happened at the end of 6 where the whole impetus for the faked death thing was so he wouldn’t have to worry about people targeting his family. It probably wouldn’t have bothered me so much if these shenanigans didn’t go on for like half the story. I think things started to improve once they got past that and Kiryu was working with the Yakuza. And the ending was great. One of my favorites in the series.
@@AlexanderHarris not too unrealistic for organizations, They absolutely will use for their benefit and if you mess something they will blame you entirely, even if the fault lies on them alone, its just the way these orgs think
@@RenegadeSpider2 True, but it’s weird that the Dragon of Dojima puts up with it. Well, I suppose he did smash in the faces of everyone in the temple that one time…
Some say it's out of Kiryu's character to cry, but I think EVERY human has a point where after YEARS of holding in emotions, that they can't hold it back anymore and release it. Dude misses his kids. He can't help it. And he'll still whup anyone's ass for calling him weak haha.
It’s odd people say that considering he cried twice in yakuza 0 over Tachibana and wanting to be like Kazama, almost gave up on everything in yakuza Kiwami and cried over Kazama’s death, had a breakdown over Rikiya in yakuza 3, almost cried over Daigo getting shot in 5 and cried when he first saw Haruka in 6. Hell in the original yakuza he even has a line where he says “so I cried, doesn’t make me any less of a man”.
@@deviljho4260honestly, Kiryu crying in Gaiden is totally makes sense However, Kiryu crying in Yakuza 3 over Rikiya's death seems a bit too emotional, which makes it a bit weird. In Kiryu's eyes, Rikiya is just like Shinji, it's okay for him to be cry, but he's being too emotional during that scene that it's kinda doesn't make sense now
@@MatsuSenpaii (Really long post, had no idea it’d be this long while I was writing it. Sorry about that!) that’s a fair point. Kiryu is a really stoic character and Rikiya is probably the death he cried the most over even though he is very similar to Shinji and he had a bigger reaction to Rikiya dying compared to another major death such as Kazama’s, the guy who literally raised him his whole childhood. But to say he’s JUST like shinji is very debatable and probably makes the difference between why Kiryu has such a difference in reaction to their respective deaths. But to really talk about why I have to get into a little into yakuza 3 and it’s character development of Kiryu. I think that by Yakuza 3 Kiryu had given up his life as a Yakuza forever and that Kiryu genuinely thought his days in the Tojo clan were all in the past and he no longer has to put up with his “Dragon of Dojima” character anymore and entering his new life as a civilian. That’s imo what sets apart the tone of the initial chapters of yakuza 3 from the rest of the entire series. The Kiryu in those chapters is not the “Dragon of Dojima” but he’s purely just Kiryu the Compassionate, gentle father to the children of Morning glory and a kind man to all those who he befriends. He no longer has to put up a front, or try to be stoic 24/7 he can finally let loose and be himself. Make friends instead of allies, jokes instead of threats. It’s reflected a lot in Kiryu’s voice acting in yakuza 3 and his expressions too, he speaks a lot lighter and calmer and even when he firsts meets Rikiya as a goofy kid trying to pick a fight he’s enjoying himself after their fight if you look at his expressions. Usually Kiryu would be pretty annoyed but now his life is in such a good spot he can just enjoy himself more even in situation which would normally bother him. All of this means that Kiryu can finally fully let people into his lives and not worry about them and that’s why he can forms such deep relationships with the orphanage kids and Rikiya because he no longer has to put up any walls between people. Characters like Shinji, Kiryu had to distance from because he was a formidable yakuza at the time and didn’t want to let them into their lives. Moreover, while Kiryu and shinji did have a bit of a brother dynamic, at the end of their day their relationship was built on a Boss-employee sort of relationship with Kiryu pretty much being his boss and Shinji as an apprentice. By the whole of yakuza 3 Kiryu had also done his best to protect Rikiya. Tried to keep him out of Kamurocho, tried to keep him away from everything. Kiryu saw that Rikiya had a ton of pride as a Yakuza but Kiryu didn't want him to live that life. Remember the term Yakuza is an insult? I think most people in Kiryu's life had been Yakuza because that was their only path: they were losers. Rikiya showed that he could live as a civilian. Remember when Majima asks if Rikiya is a friend and Kiryu calls him a great man? We never see Kiryu praising Yakuza like that, we only see him show pride in civilians. Rikiya isn't “Yakuza” in the traditional sense, he’s an absolute bottom of the barrel kid on an island where they hold pretty much no power and his family “The Ryudo” don’t even operate like yakuza, there’s literally only 2 people in it and the patriarch is retired from the business. It’s pretty much just his best friend and father figure. he's a civilian, and he's a casualty of Yakuza nonsense. In a way, Rikiya dying also signified to Kiryu that no matter what happens. He’ll never escape the yakuza life, he’ll never be a civilian. People will always die at his expense and Rikiya being the most innocent of them all probably caused tremendous pain to kiryu. As far as I know Rikiya was only person in the entire series who sacrificed himself for Kiryu. Which really drives the point home that people will always die at the expense of Kiryu…the worst part of it all was that Rikiya was still just a kid.
Shishido having many health bars does actually make sense when you think of it as him seeing the end of the Yakuza as his whole life crumbling, and as he said, he's gonna fight tooth and nail to survive and keep it going since that's all he has. So it's less about him being weaker, but him literally just not giving up until he's all out of fight in him.
@@leonarduskrisna4588 well in the boss fights he had before the final he literally has lower health. Its not until the final boss fight where he just goes beast. Its like in Kaito's final boss, I doubt that guy is as strong as the Yakuza final bosses strength wise, but iirc he's the highest HP in the DLC, because he's fighting for love.
It also makes sense in universe, the amount of shit that guy has been put through in his life has made him strong. I see a bit of discourse where people are surprised he stood up to Majima and Saejima, but like Saejima himself says, he's backed into a corner fighting for his ideals and way of life. Add on top of that, him being physically bigger than either Kiryu or Saejima, closer to Ryuji in stature tbh. After playing the entire franchise over the past few years, that ending scene with the tablet was one of the biggest payoffs and emotional moments I've ever experienced in gaming, even more than saying goodbye to Arthur Morgan or John Marsden in RDR or Dom in Gears. After all the hell Kiryu went through to protect them for over a decade and finally seeing it was all worth it was beautiful and well deserved. So glad they fleshed out this story beyond a DLC. Yeah it may be short but it's gotta be one of my favorite entries in the series purely for its fan service and story telling artistry.
Genuinely peak. Last chapter was so fucking good. The finale is one of the strongest in the entire series and it has THE MOST emotional moment in the whole series so far. It makes this game top tier to me. To top it off, this game has top tier combat that is only slightly worse than Lost Judgment
fuck ive never cried at a game so much untill that ending scene. if this is how i feel now, i dont think ill be able to handle the ending of Infinite wealth
2:14:02 I dunno if it's true, but it's possible Hanawa is Morinaga from Yakuza 5. They share the same voice actor and Morinaga had an off-screen death.
@@Zephhi Either had plastic surgery or was beaten so bad in 5 he got disfigured and they thought he died. Also the Daidoji boss looks a lot like Madarame from Y5 aswell, and that guy was not able to stand anymore either because he was being helped by his goons to stand up at the ending cutscene after the Kanai fight
That ending....and not prepared to see how they handle Kiryu and the cancer story. Also I think the Daidoji is responsible for Ichiban getting sent to Hawaii. It's too coincidentally they send him where Kiryu is.
Well, Ichiban is going to Hawaii because he’s looking for his mom. Kiryu only went to Hawaii to drop Yumi’s ring off at the church & then hears about a guy with a dragonfish tattoo running from the police & easily pieced together that that was Ichiban.
2:16:31 "and then they bring in the kids which is the only thing Kiryu cares about at all" Majima sobbing in a corner, kiryu channnn... (probably hugging Daigo) Yakuza 12, Ichiban hands over the torch to Haruto, who will get back his grandmom's ring!
For those wondering who Hanawa could have been before he became Hanawa... Kiryu called himself Taichi Suzuki in Yakuza 5 after leaving Morning Glory. Only a few people knew/addressed him that way so he could live a life with privacy Daigo Dojima Masato Aizawa (the final boss of 5) Aizawa's father The clan in the area Kiryu stayed in And Aizawa's superior, Morinaga. Aizawa wouldn't have been nice about meeting Kiryu again Obviously it isnt his father, Dojima or the old man from 5. So it's as clear as day that it's Morinaga. The man who disappeared and died mysteriously
You give Kiryu-chan a happy ending right now! Not cancer! A happy ending! Having played thru all the series, the ending broke me. I felt as if all the kids were my own too. To see them all grown up crushed me because we (Kiryu) couldn't see them. Man, felt like a movie. I drowned in tears. Now we wait for 8, maybe there's hope because there was that trailer that announced that Kiryu wasn't really dead on the news. We've been following Kiryu for years, he deserves a happy ending.
Shishido is the embodiment of all the yakuza Kiryu respected in life. People like Ryuji, Kazuma, Kuze, etc. I'm looking forward to him coming back in 8 and showing the struggle of oldschool yakuza accepting that the life they knew is no longer possible.
This ending absolutely destroyed me, Gaiden has officially secured itself as my second favorite Yakuza game. Hanawa possibly being Morinaga caught me off guard I short circuited for a bit!
It ain't even a possibility. It's literally him lol. He was very professional and 100% went along and respected Kiryu's charade of being someone else. The person who directed and wrote this whole game must have really loved 5
I'm sorry if it's strange because I'm talking with a translator. It's said in Japan that the identity of the wreath may be Morinaga who came out in Yakuza 5! Because it seems that voice actors are the same
Considering that yakuza is my childhood, this hit harder than any other game series. Got hooked at 10 years old with the OG yakuza 1 dub😂. 11 years later, we get this. Yakuza like a dragon has a special place in my heart
Damn family means alot for kiryu ,been fighting for them for so long im hopeful of that ending but damn ive never felt tearful of it but yet here we are
After having played all the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games, I can say that The Dragon of Dojima: Kazuma Kiryu is on my list of my favorite video game protagonists. 🐲
For me, only 3 yakuza games have had such an emotional ending. yakuza 5 when haruka abandons the idol life and declares his love for kiryu and the children at the orphanage, this ending was very emotional for me. yakuza 6 when everyone is at the morning glory orphanage and haruto is trying to take his first steps and now gaiden with this emotional ending of kiryu looking at the recording of the children from the orphanage visiting his grave. my god, this is beautiful
spoilers for yakuza 5 the main theory behind why hanawa knows kiryu has used taichi suzuki as a name before is because he is yu morinaga from yakuza 5 its the same voice actor aswell just to solidify it further
Just finished the main story last night, and I was crying with him. Compared to the everyday struggles and dreams of the common folks that were once the orphans he took care of, he'll gladly destroy the Yakuza and his own past in order to protect their ways of life. Yet, to die alone, only having the memories of them to keep him company. We feel sorrow when we realize that there's still so much to love for.
Don't see why it wouldn't make sense for Shishido to have as many health bars as he did. It's the last stand of the Omi Alliance, and the yakuza as a whole, I'd be disappointed if he was a weakling. Hell, I wanted more, the fight was so goddamn fun.
Tbh i'm a bit jealous that you had such a long battle with Shishido, because i maxxed everything(except for attack) so i manhandled him. His sword attacks were especially easy to Tiger Drop
i have played every yakuza so far now im playing infinite wealth now after this and this one really got me seeing him get emotional like that was so crazy i actually had tears rolling down my face in this scene when i played it and i was like holy shit im actually crying right now lol
People don't pay attention to the story sometimes and it bugs me lmao like what are you doing while a few minutes of dialogue and story is being shown to you
THAT moment in Yakuza 3, the letter to Daigo in 6 and this ending were the hardest hitting moments in the series for me As for Hanawa's true identity? Check his voice actor...there is someone that should know Kiryu's taxi driver alias in there.
I wish I could share that same sentiment about that moment in Y3, but I knew it was gonna happen (wasn't spoiled, just called it) all that manipulative emotional moments with said character didn't work on me. So that death fell so flat for me. This? Absolutely broke me. Even had a neighbor check up on me cause they've never heard me crying before.
(Spoiler alert) That ending with the Yumi's ring was a nice closure. Also, anyone have theories on what Kiryu did before heading to Hawaii? Very curious. That crying scene though 😢

couldn't trying martial arts ability using ? multiple times use weapons it's Halious played games😂 owed weapons capability i assume so 1st Halious game like a dragon 😊
Idk which would be better, him seeing everyone again in Infinite Wealth before he dies from cancer or letting them think that he is still out there somewhere. Obviously i just want him to not die but its not like they don’t love making Kiryu as miserable as possible.

@@Zerovin fr
My heart aches so much for Kiryu I hate seeing him suffer, I just want to see him happy.
For real tho :(
2:14:02 I dunno if it's true, but it's possible Hanawa is Morinaga from Yakuza 5. They share the same voice actor and Morinaga had an off-screen death.
The only Yakuza who knew Kiryu's fake name in Y5 were Morinaga,Aizawa and Watase so it's pretty much canon Hanawa is Morinaga
It is Moringna with that ending.
@@Mirra2003-f9sagreed
Yeah it's probably him but I wanna know the reason why he looks vastly different. Maybe they'll say it's plastic surgery or something
So many tears. That was a great ending and I can't wait to see more adventures in Infinite Wealth
I already have ideas in Infinite Wealth but better not discuss it anywhere. Lol. I mean with the trailer and all, I might have an idea. 😢
2:16:31 "and then they bring in the kids which is the only thing Kiryu cares about at all"
Majima sobbing in a corner, kiryu channnn... (probably hugging Daigo)
Yakuza 12, Ichiban hands over the torch to Haruto, who will get back his grandmom's ring!
For those wondering who Hanawa could have been before he became Hanawa...
Kiryu called himself Taichi Suzuki in Yakuza 5 after leaving Morning Glory.
Only a few people knew/addressed him that way so he could live a life with privacy
Daigo Dojima
Masato Aizawa (the final boss of 5)
Aizawa's father
The clan in the area Kiryu stayed in
And Aizawa's superior, Morinaga.
Aizawa wouldn't have been nice about meeting Kiryu again
Obviously it isnt his father, Dojima or the old man from 5.
Definitely brought tears to my eyes. Let him see his kids.
The person who directed and wrote this whole game must have really loved 5
this ending killed me, you are incredible keep up the good work
Most of the game is fun gadgets, memories from times gone by and the usual Yakuza stuff and then you cry for 30 minutes
I'm sorry if it's strange because I'm talking with a translator. It's said in Japan that the identity of the wreath may be Morinaga who came out in Yakuza 5! Because it seems that voice actors are the same
This is deff my favorite LAD game.
im a 21 year old male i cried like a lilttle kid during this ending 😂
Me too man, this franchise is special
Considering that yakuza is my childhood, this hit harder than any other game series. Got hooked at 10 years old with the OG yakuza 1 dub😂. 11 years later, we get this. Yakuza like a dragon has a special place in my heart
Damn family means alot for kiryu ,been fighting for them for so long im hopeful of that ending but damn ive never felt tearful of it but yet here we are
It's not a good Yakuza game unless you're struggling to play and read shit with tears in your reddend eyes.
I hope RGG makes future titles that are as difficult as Gaiden
Gottavlove streamers who make the game hard for themselves by not playing side content and leveling up the cool abilities you get lol.
After having played all the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games, I can say that The Dragon of Dojima: Kazuma Kiryu is on my list of my favorite video game protagonists. 🐲
literally just came here to feel things. I've watched the ending so many times with different people playing it. And I have cried everytime
For me, only 3 yakuza games have had such an emotional ending.
yakuza 5 when haruka abandons the idol life and declares his love for kiryu and the children at the orphanage, this ending was very emotional for me.
yakuza 6 when everyone is at the morning glory orphanage and haruto is trying to take his first steps and now gaiden with this emotional ending of kiryu looking at the recording of the children from the orphanage visiting his grave.
my god, this is beautiful
those got me to tear up. this one actually broke me into a crying mess , infinite wealth will probably do the same
And yakuza 0, seeing how someone innocent like Makoto got swept up into the Yakuza BS just to suffer immensely for it
spoilers for yakuza 5
the main theory behind why hanawa knows kiryu has used taichi suzuki as a name before is because he is yu morinaga from yakuza 5 its the same voice actor aswell just to solidify it further
just beat the game watching kiryu cry was one of the hardest things i have ever had to watch, man I cried like a baby, and I don't cry like that.
I cried like a little boy when i got to the ending and i haven't even played Yakuza games prior to Like a Dragon.
Definitely play from 0
Same
Just finished the main story last night, and I was crying with him.
Hell, I wanted more, the fight was so goddamn fun.
her nose became red. I am a grown ass person and never knew its can get so prominently different in some people
Shishido was pretty hardcore. He gave me Ryuji vibes
Shishido is basically RGG’s redemption for not involving Aizawa as much in the story as they should’ve.
Tbh i'm a bit jealous that you had such a long battle with Shishido, because i maxxed everything(except for attack) so i manhandled him. His sword attacks were especially easy to Tiger Drop
Shishido boss tip:
When he has his sword use agent Style and when he is brawling use Yakuza Style
Shishido 🦁 my beloved
日本人だけど、共感してもらえて嬉しいよ!
i have played every yakuza so far now im playing infinite wealth now after this and this one really got me seeing him get emotional like that was so crazy i actually had tears rolling down my face in this scene when i played it and i was like holy shit im actually crying right now lol
"He's just some guy" who grew up fighting to the death in a coliseum and tortured regularly. 🤷♂️
People don't pay attention to the story sometimes and it bugs me lmao like what are you doing while a few minutes of dialogue and story is being shown to you
What’s up and good morning Runebee! Great gaming channel
I cried. Can't wait for Infinite wealth next year ⭐
Song isnt DMCA since it was made for and apart of the games OST.
So u didnt hav to worry. lol
And this was supposed to be DLC with 6-8 moth development. RGG are actually the goat.
Even with all the side content in Gaiden. It's almost double the length of Spider-Man 2, a AAA 300+ million dollar game.
i think that hanawa guy is tanaka from kiwami 1
THAT moment in Yakuza 3, the letter to Daigo in 6 and this ending were the hardest hitting moments in the series for me
As for Hanawa's true identity? Check his voice actor...there is someone that should know Kiryu's taxi driver alias in there.
I wish I could share that same sentiment about that moment in Y3, but I knew it was gonna happen (wasn't spoiled, just called it) all that manipulative emotional moments with said character didn't work on me. So that death fell so flat for me.
This? Absolutely broke me. Even had a neighbor check up on me cause they've never heard me crying before.
2:14:03
WAIT, WHAT?! TOJO CLAN'S MORINAGA?! Yakuza 5?!
NO WONDER YOUR VOICE SOUND FAMILIAR!
he was from 5 not 4
this hasnt been confirmed@@deatheater6222
(Spoiler alert) That ending with the Yumi's ring was a nice closure. Also, anyone have theories on what Kiryu did before heading to Hawaii? Very curious. That crying scene though 😢
2:03:21 Ohh that's Yumi!
HUH?????
bro stopping insulting my boy shishido😂 he's a cool ass character wtf
She was just a little frustrated with the combat, she liked the ending
Hanawa=Morinaga
Runebee stop chopping onions on stream
Kiryu: I didn't give the kid superpowers.
The kid: *42 years old*
2:03:24 did she say oh thats yumi
i'm support u with my love
Hanawa=Morinaga
Hey Runebee!
Good Gaming!
hanawa is morinaga
same voice actor
this has not been confirmed
How about "ravenous devils"?
been struggling with money lately so I couldn't buy this but I watch the ending... made me weep for the first time since yakuza like a dragon.
Almost all of the Yakuza games are free on Gamepass. That's how I managed to play this game. I have Isshin downloaded as well. I'm just sad the Judgement games aren't on there
Mr. Hanawa was originally a man named
Yu Morinaga.
This has not been Confirmed
@@kaetce It was
wth, they took the mgs4 ending loooool
10:17 isn’t that Captain Koda from Good luck?
😭😭
couldn't trying martial arts ability using ? multiple times use weapons
it's Halious played games😂 owed weapons capability
i assume so 1st Halious game like a dragon 😊
👏👏👏👏👏
Idk which would be better, him seeing everyone again in Infinite Wealth before he dies from cancer or letting them think that he is still out there somewhere. Obviously i just want him to not die but its not like they don’t love making Kiryu as miserable as possible.
😢😢😢😢
A Path of a Real Dragon. He has all the Power and Glory, But along the path is Hardship and Sadness.
play some dirty horror game
The combat in this felt slightly less janky than the other games in the series. Still no Amalur for flowing combat, but less janky at least lol
To bad Infinite Wealth does nothing to back this up, disappointing ending
i learned gaiden was made after like a dragon 8 and i guess it really shows
Game felt very mid until the last chapter.
Man that ending hit me right in the feels 😞😭
You got to be kidding me "tears in heaven" moment 🤌🤌 jeez
