So beautiful, Lauren! Your work is incredible. I’m an artist too… i mostly work with pastels and acrylics. I hope you can answer a question for me….. how long does it take for your oil paintings to dry before you sell them off? Do you varnished them before sending them off ? TIA
Thank you so much! My paintings are usually dry to the touch within 3-4 days, but I usually wait 2 weeks before applying varnish. I use a product called Gamvar by Gamblin, which is unique because it allows the paint to continue curing beneath the protective surface. Unlike other varnishes that require fully cured paint-a process that can take up to 6 months-Gamvar can be applied once the paint is dry to the touch. After that, the painting is ready to go!
For my sketch in the piece I used a Faber-Castell Goldfaber Aqua Dual Marker in Warm Grey III, followed by a casein based fixative - by SpectraFix. I painted the background and allowed it to dry - I then painted the subjects and did indeed paint into a couch using a combo of safflower oil and gamsol 🙂
So beautiful 💙
Thanks so much, William!

Watching this was akin to meditating. Thanks for a great video! Can I ask what music this is?
Thank you! This song is available on the UA-cam music library - Fortress Europe by Dan Bodan
What kind of pencil is that? And do you still paint into a couch? Applied after the sketch I presume?
