chinese new year please, our calender is lunisolar calendar.
Thank you for the clarification 😅
The Spring Festival in China is based on the Chinese lunar calendar, which is a lunisolar calendar. With its unique methods of leap - month insertion and chronology, it differs from a pure lunar calendar. The Spring Festival features distinctive Chinese customs such as pasting Spring Festival couplets and having reunion dinners, embodying the unique cultural connotations of the Chinese nation, like family reunion and praying for blessings. Historically, the Spring Festival evolved from ancient Chinese New Year sacrifices. China has played a pivotal role in formulating and inheriting the Chinese lunar calendar. The New Year festivals of neighboring countries have all been influenced by China. Moreover, in 2024, "The Spring Festival: The Chinese Practice of Celebrating the Traditional New Year" was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Therefore, it should be called "the Chinese Spring Festival" or "Chinese New Year", not "Lunar New Year".
