I don't think they needed to. Making up with his dad was the final orb of light he needed to create the miracle, so it's assumed in the new timeline he does this already as it's the timeline with all the orbs of light working together!
Its been 3 years since ive been into anime, and 2 since i watched Clannad and afterstory, and can say it is still by far the anime the hits the hardest

I turned to anime during the lockdown and saw this...it was brutal to watch. But I"m glad I did. Nagisa gave excellent advice - you got to keep moving forward.
