Born in Tempe, 1961. Moved away in 2004. When I left, the tallest building in Tempe was the flour mill! Sorta hard to wrap my head around the change, but looking at it objectively, it looks like a nice place. There is not much left of the history, or historical buildings. I guess I'll just live with my version, my memories.
Loved and lived in several areas of Az...never enjoyed those blazing temps but mountains and monsoons along with desert scenery more than made up for those scorchers...
What monsoons? Nothing can compare to what monsoons were in the 70's and 80's. They've jacked the weather so much, now we can whistle Dixie for any REAL rain!
I'm watching in Norfolk, Virginia; home of the world's largest naval base. I'm hoping to move to Arizona in the next year, and I'm watching your videos as research tools and I have to give you credit. You do a good job representing your home state. With what I've gathered so far I have narrowed my choices down to three cities: Tempe, Phoenix and Tucson. Your videos are truly invaluable pieces of research for me. I'll be moving across the country alone and want to be smart about it. Thank you!
Did you ever make the move? I'm in west Virginia and going to Phoenix/Tempe in 4 days. Can't wait to explore and hopefully make a new home. I'm also making the trip alone.
Tempe Arizona known as Campus City Arizona is quite affluent and bustling. It makes OSU Columbus Ohio look impoverished. The Light Rail is quite new and clean with lines going far into Mesa and back to Phoenix. Tempe has tall buildings and looks even newer looking than Minneapolis St Paul. This city has very good life going on.
My favorite place in Phoenix Metro Area! The places I like to eat at in Tempe are Chuck Box, Pedal Haus, Handle Bar, Gus's Pizza, and Back East Bagels!
Thank you for this. My son is a junior in HS. He'll be attending ASU on scholarship because he works at Starbucks. This has me excited for this transition!
yeah, we lived there 2012-2014 ... and it the crime was bad then. I drove through my old neighborhood while in PHX for business in July 2020 and Yikes!! I am so happy we moved!
Omg please respond back and let me know how your experience is there! My consideration with moving to places is whether there will be black people lol!
Just discovered your videos here, and has been about 8 years since our last trip. Am enjoying them so much and is good to see areas we never got to, thankyou from Australia.
Thank you so much for this beautiful video.. My son will be moving to Tempe sometime in January or February , Of course as a mother I'm not happy to see him leave but after seeing your video it is beautiful it's just gorgeous I'm happy for him. And thank you so much for your video that must have taken a lot of time and a lot of patience to uh make that video and show so much more than Tempe.
Beautiful. Here in Michigan but visit Arizona frequently since family has moved there. We really enjoy AZ and I love 💗 how you have shown so many wonderful places to visit. Wishing you a super week. Stay safe. Hugs Susan
Watching from the Netherlands! Love AZ, been there 5 times, cant wait to go back (now its not allowed for me to travel to the US because of Covid 19) and see my family and all the beautiful places in AZ!
We love in Ontario Canada and just live Arizona. Thank you for your great videos. So helpful when we travel there. Gone now at least 3 times and love it!! ❤️

X well I would love to visit or live in tempe or other areas of the phoenix metro that are nice and relatively safe and I love the sun and hot weather so I would be okay:)
I lived in Tempe for nearly 2 years and now I cannot return to US simply due to pp10043 which ban my visa approval. I miss the days in Tempe. As well as Scottsdale.
I’m from Sedona but I have recently lived in Northern Phoenix and Mesa. I do miss living close to Tempe, as well as Gilbert and Chandler. I hope to live in that area again soon.
Thank you for this excellent piece. I was a student at ASU from 1980 - 1983 and the degree of change in Tempe is amazing. Actually I'd say it is positive in many ways. However, much of Mill Ave. is so changed it is difficult to recognize. Think I'll be making a post-covid trip out there to see it firsthand. Thanks again for posting.
I live in Ls Sendas in Mesa - 16 years. What I love are the sunsets and the city of Phoenix skyline - 30 miles across the valley from my house front. I moved to Mesa after a 2 year stay in Scottsdale. Originally from Beverly Hills, California. There is an area very near to my home that I call Beverly Hills-Mesa. All the homes are multi-million dollars.
Watching from Illinois man I’ve thought about moving to Tempe. I stayed a couple months out in Goodyear when I went to AZ but its one of the ideal places I have in mind

Hi from St. Clair Shores, MI. My wife and I planning to move in AZ in late 2022 - early 2023. We are planning to visit AZ in July to experience the head and hopefully a monsoon and haboob.
Love your videos, however would like to hear about some jobs in the area you tour/talk about along with general cost of housing (many views may be watching to help narrow down a spot to move to?
Coming out there soon from California, it's unlivable here. Don't worry, we are conservative, like guns and God. I like Queen Creek and San tan valley area but will have to check it all out before we buy.
I can tell you this much Chad, unless you like extreme heat, it's freakin' hot here and your car insurance will be very high because of all the drunk drivers. That's why I'm getting the heck out of Phoenix area. It's absolutely no fun!
@@skletke7543 yeah, I know. My wife is from Sonora MX and she wants to be closer to family. Where we live in California insurance is high and it's hot too, and humid. Going to be 111 Sunday. Awesome, get here quick! November-April is the best time to be here. Tempe is pretty shitty (and super liberal) unless you have money to live in the high rise condos with all the rich ASU students. The fake 2 mile long lake is... well, exactly that.... I’d stay away from all of Glendale, most of Phoenix, and Tempe.
