  • Whether rising income inequality is good or bad depends on why it's rising. We should worry more about whether people have a chance to get ahead and worry less that some get ahead faster than others. In particular, we should help Americans at the bottom get the opportunity to flourish.

Appreciate this series very much. The explanation behind the difficulty of understanding our world in numbers is essential.

Where are the sources ? Peer reviewed empirical evidence ? Thought so. Just some propaganda.

I agree on this statement.. BUT if you can’t find the holes in his statements and plug them with facts or even just perspectives then what evidence do you need?? It’s all out there.

Do you leave the same comment on left leaning econ videos? Didn't think so. Hypocrite.

let's rip this one by one
    1. That would be good but then you're leaving the younger gen in the dark and essentially no way of progressing beyond that
    2. Removing licences? Yeah that'll make work easier, all that'll do is increase hazards and endangers your customers and your workplace.
    3. all removing zoning laws do is creates unsafe housing that becomes more hazardous (eg building houses near fertilizer plants or power plants).
Here's some better ways to fix the issue
    1. Make education available for everyone (children or adults) and for low income, make it pro-bono. Ensure that everyone can get a chance for a better education to not just better themselves but also learn basis
    2. Provide better healthcare for those who have problems (mental disabilities, addiction) and thus ensure that the unemployable within society can become productive
    3. *ENCOURAGE ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMS!!* This is something that can help the unemployed, allow them to work with skills they have or other things and thus can become productive.
    4. Instead of lower zoning laws, maybe better improve things that can help the lower class like more public transportation. The housing issue is due to greed than zoning and that folks are purging low income in hopes of getting rich east coasters.
    5. Automation will happen regardless of minimum wage or not. Businesses would rather have robots that can work 24/7 with no vacations than having to give people breaks. Hence why some view UBI as a good solution.
This video's answer reeks of Anarco-Cap bullroar that just wants to create a job market that's 1950s level of hazardous with crowded housing that ends up becoming slums more than actual homes that barely meet basic zoning safety regulations.

Not sure what your #1 is referring to.
      2) Did you know nurses and docs had to get special waivers to operate across state lines during Covid? That means they can't compete with each other on price in normal years. Of course you might agree that doctors need licenses and nurses, too. But does a hair braider? What if licensing is actually used to limit competition? ij.org/issues/economic-liberty/braiding/
Note that this is very much related to your suggestion #3.
      3) Easing housing regulation would also result in more housing. That means lower prices and the increased density translates into greater viability of mass transit and more livable cities.

Barbers need to be licensed? Florists? Those are the kinds of jobs that have quite onerous occupational regulations depending on the state and are accessible to people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds which are in question, no one is saying radiation oncologists don't need training.
Removing zoning laws is focused on restrictions on residential zoning, most residential zoning requires stand-alone single-family housing of particular size with space for a lawn or garage, which drastically reduces the amount of land available for housing. No one is talking about removing restrictions on housing safety, or building residential units on top of waste sites.
