This game is an example of what I've been preaching about over and over again for a long time. When Tim hardaway Jr. plays like a score i. e. attacking the rim, getting layups, drawing files to get to the free throw line, driving and kicking to someone open, taking mid-range jumpers, and mixing it with threes, he tends to get in a good rhythm and scores a lot of points. I wish the Mavericks would stop making him chuck 3's, chuck 3's, chuck 3's. Every time he does that, he's susceptible to having up and down nights. People have to understand that the three-point shot is a low percentage shot. I'm not picking on Tim hardaway Jr. but pretty much all players have down nights when they shoot from threes at a high volume.
When Tim hardaway Jr plays as a score, he does a good job of putting points on the board. I don't understand why the Mavericks don't allow him to drive to the rim more and let him be a finisher. What I mean is, whether he scores or not it would be nice to see him draw files so he can get to the free throw line and take advantage of that 85% free throw shooting ability that he has. The Mavericks have a good score in Tim hardaway jr. I don't understand why they keep missing it by making him Chuck 3's so much. His strength is not a being shooter. His strength is scoring like he did tonight against the Oklahoma City thunder. If you look at his past films on games and past stats of where he was scoring as a scorer, it will back up their statements that I'm saying. In contrast, if you look at films on the games when he was just shooting and chucking 3's, he had up and down nights. To get the consistency of his rhythm the Mavs need to play him as a score not a shooter. I don't understand why they're not doing this. Is it Tim or the coaching staff that's causing this matter ? I'll say this about Tim hardaway Jr, he comes off like a player that's going to do whatever it takes to be on this Maverick team and help this team be successful. As a reward for for that, I don't understand why they don't let him be a score more than a shooter.
For those of you that are reading this and want to argue against it, go back and watch the film and read the stats.
It seems like some of the media guys, I won't say no names, make a great big whoop tee do when he has off nights. But they don't say very much about Tim when he has good nights. They don't seem to analyze "why" he has good nights and "why" he has bad nights. Well, I've done a lot of film study on Tim hardaway jr. Since the time he's been in dallas. I've watched him play. He's a better score than he is a shooter. Being a shooter is just not his strength. Being a score, like I described earlier, he tends to be highly productive.
I'm not saying get away from the three-point shot all together. What I'm saying is manage Tim, as well as the other players talents, to get them in rhythm to help them make their three-point shots fall. I'm just using Tim as an example. When he plays as a scorer and gets into his rhythm, his three-point shot tends to fall a lot better and more efficiently. Don't take my opinion on it. Go back and watch the film and look at the stats. You'll see what I'm talking about. If you got a talented player take advantage of his abilities. If playing him as a score helps him get 20 to 30 points a night, why don't the Mavericks don't take advantage of this on a consistent basis?
Also, he may not be a great defender but, He does a decent job on defense. Drawing charges and staying in front of his man most of the time.
Lastly, I don't understand why the Dallas Mavericks are not maximizing Tim's talent as a score for this team. It would really help add to the productivity of Luka Donic, Kyrie irving, Derek lively, and Daniel gafford in the scoring department.

Im with you one the Afternoon games!!! Maybe or coincidence or maybe not they really started off slow in both game….. But I think they’ll be more prepared Because it’s the 2nd Round they know what’s at stake here…. the intensity level has to be higher to really take advantage of this home court Advantage they can steal if they come of n play game 3 like they need to and win…
