My favorite thing to come out of the No Dot Challenge is Handong saying that her mom saw it, called her, and went full mother mode on her (e.g. Why did you do that!? I didn't raise you like this! Please don't do that again) 🤣🤣🤣
The evil genius that is Kim Bora. She made Dami do it first and after what she (the "calm" one) did, all the others were unleashed.
They named this album "Save Us" solely because of No Dot. They knew what was about to go down

The back up dancer with the red hair (the one on the right in the beginning of "For") is Hwang Sooyeon. She once wanted to become an idol, then she was a dance teacher. She was/is the performance director for Dreamcatcher, doing multiple of their choreos since I think Scream? And she now started a solo career as singer, too. Also, my secret bias besides OT7 :P
She did at least get a solo debut under the name S8YN. Very sad that it didn't do well because the song is actually quite good
I love all of the solos and their MVs, but Entrancing gets me emotional every time. It's such a beautifully expressive piece.
Btw:Jiu is not the only member who wrote a song about their pet. Dami wrote the song Butterfly (yes there is a special clip mv for it) after the passing of her dog Dodo. Dodo's passing is why Dami and her mom got matching Butterfly Tattoos. There is a video somewhere Dami explains it all.😢
I already know No Dot is going to be an experience and i'm not even 30 seconds into this.
And the warnings aren't for these. its for the No Dot live shows. Things get wild.
They don't call it "The Wilding" for nothing.
About the dancers: The dancer with purple hair and a bit of red is Shinah Chu, she was in Cherry, No Dot, Entrancing, Beauty Full and Playground. The choreographer(s) (usually Hwang Sooyeon whom is DC's performance director, and sometimes Kim Keeyeoun) were also in a few of them. They are the 2 with Yoohyeon in For but neither are in the MV for No Dot (even though Sooyeon was a choreographer for it). It's a bit of a mixed bag, but yeah Dreamcatcher uses a lot of the same dancers for their MVs and the solo MVs :)
Recognizing the dancers will sort of become a running trend. They have stuck with the same dancers for a while. I know in these clips, Keeyeoun tends to be easy to pick out in the candid shots. Also Sooyeon and Shinah Chu both have really bright hair.
this era was my fav dancer era!! it's like a who is who of my fav dancers that worked with dc over the years. 🥰
btw i was very surprised when they dropped the dance preview for 'justice' today and none of the dancers looked familiar to me.
sooyeon tagged all of them in her ig story and they are indeed all new to me.

I think the solo songs really represented them so well. It really captured their personalities and feelings🥰

I'm surprised that you survived the challenge😅 and as always thank you for reacting DC.
I really like the way that the director made us clearly see every dancer walk out from the screen in the ending sequence of "Winter".
Not just do harsh cuts to new footage.
It emphasizes how the lyrics tell us that time flies, people walk away, and even the person in the story changes.
But she starts over from the same step as the story actually ends (winter).
Believe it or not, there is one thing on the internet that comes with a stronger warning than No Dot Challenge... the Tadow dance cover. From SuA obviously, and her friend Seungyeon from CLC.
Yeah...I think they might have seen that already but my memory is shot so I could be wrong. I am sure there are other, even more HOT K-Pop videos than the Tadow cover but they would have to be videos that have literally been banned somewhere... Pretty sure 'Miniskirt' got banned at one point but people still cover it. And there are even more.
There was a Girl Group that lasted something like two weeks from debut until getting disbanded. Their entire vibe was SO SEXY, it was completely over-the-top and they were banned from EVERY show's live stage (giving them no chance at all to ever win anything). The girls of course were pissed off at their managers and producers (who of course tried to blame the girls but that is not how contracts work). The girls got USED and EXPLOITED and some other ass got way with a lot of money, while the girls got shafted.
I don't remember the group's name or the company name off the top of my head but I did see a video about it a few years ago. I am sure the info can still be found.
No Lie Handong got in trouble with her mom for her No Dot performance!😂
Random fact but the one backup dance with red hair is Hwang Sooyeon who is the performance director for Dreamcatcher. She was a former trainee and even appeared on produce 101 back in the day. She's been with DC for a while and makes great choreos 🙂

Dreamcatcher Company has a Performance Director, Hwang Sooyeon, and two assistant choreographers. The two dancers in For with Yoohyeon are Sooyeon (red hair) and assistant Kim Keeyeoun. The second assistant, Kim Riye, replaced Handong in Scream. The three of them are usually among the backup dancers. I'm really curious if one of them will replace Siyeon during the promotions for Virtuous. I don't how they will pull off the comeback without her. Good news is that Siyeon will be in the Taiwan concert at the end of July so looks like she's on the mend. That was a bad few days with not knowing what was happening with that sweet gentle soul. One of Siyeon's favorite song's is YB's A Flying Butterfly. I know she will fly again soon!

I am sure it would be simple enough to play Siyeon's vocals on the track but everybody else would sing live. Of course having a dancer stand in for Siyeon would be smart and yet one more throwback to some dark days for the group (maybe another mask involved...?).

Ah man- This morning, aside from the typical case if the Mondays, was a rough one with having to help my neurodivergent child adapt to a summer enrichment program in a different school district for the first time and get him on the bus for a longer bus ride than normal... Super stressed wondering how the day is going...
And then the both of you swing to the rescue with surprise DC content on a Monday, enduring what must have been the most painful 18 minutes of your DC reactions thus far, and provides me with some much needed laughs, smiles, and riding along the feels train through the Solo MVs.

If you got that emotional about 'Cherry' and the bright and cheerful MV when that video even has a happy ending, then I am giving you both more than double the alert/ tissue warning for Dami's song 'Butterfly'; she wrote that one AFTER her very old family pooch had passed. Dami was still very young when they got the dog so she grew up with him. The video for it is a montage of her 'brother' in photographs.
It's amazing all the way around but also guaranteed to rip your hearts out. Dami was so vulnerable, it really hurts. You might need a lot of time to recover.

The movie playing at Yoohyeon's cinema was Gone With The Wind. I had to look it up because it has been so long since I saw it, but that movie came out in 1939 and I bet it re-appeared in theaters a LOT for a very long time. The video really fits the vibe of the song.
Unfortunatly there at least a couple of videos missing from this No Dot compilations, from the two nights in LA. The one where Siyeon wears a tie is not complete, she dances a little more, and in the other night there's a videos that goes back and forth to Dami dancing and Siyeon's reaction to it that is priceless 😂😂😂
I think the no dot challenge is when Handong got a phone call from her mother telling that she isn't that kind of girl. Now every time she dances like this she sees her mother's face and the panic sets in.
I can't handle when Jiu and Sua do the No Dot sexy dance together. Like I can't even handle when one bias does it but TWO!?
The last part of Dongie's 'Winter' is a capella but it is also in Mandarin, her first language. :)

Dami, Siyeon and Dongie’s solo’s are my top 3 favorite of the solos with SuA’s being 4th. Beauty Full gives me that 2000’s pop-pink, Entrancing belongs in a K-drama, I love the Chinese at the end of Winter. Ah, the No Dot stages. Dongie and JiU living it up.. especially when Mama Han saw one of Handong’s turns and couldn’t belt what her daughter was doing.. Dongie in her hips.. I was at the Reading stop when my bias line was chosen.
ALL of the live stages from this album are of course awesome but I could not get over Siyeon's 'Entrancing'. It's PERFECT, as expected from our Main Vocalist Wolfie.
One of the more amazing things about the _Entrancing_ clip is also how few cuts there are during the verses. I think the entire first verse and first chorus is 1 shot 🤯
Hwang Sooyeon with the red hair is in a lot of their videos as a dancer, she makes a lot of their choreographies as well and she trained as an idol before becoming the performance director at Dreamcatcher Company. She also debuted as a soloist last year under the stage name S8YN, with a song called _WYDNN_

Dongie's mom was MAD when she called after seeing the group doing the No Dot challenge. She said something like 'This is not how we raised you!'
But at least the group members did not drag their backup dancers into the challenge; that's the only way it could have been any better at all...
More Hwang Sooyeon notes: it's not just that she had been an idol trainee. She was a trainee at Happyface at the same time as the rest of the women of Minx and has said that she was training to be part of Minx but was not selected in the end. Instead, she was announced to have been a part of something called the Die-A Project to follow Minx and a two-song mini-album was released for the pre-debut group (and ... it's actually good, particularly the first song). But Minx failed, and one of the members of Die-A left the company, and so Sooyeon and one other were slotted instead into Produce 101 in 2016 where she came in 39th. But, nevertheless, she was hired to be the DC choreographer and performance director in 2019 starting with Deja Vu. She did all the choreography for the solo MVs here (except maybe No Dot which is probably both SuA and her), and appears in all the MVs where there are women backup dancers (i.e. not Dongie's). She has red hair in For and is the purple hair with red bangs in others.

Any time groups get the chance to escape Korea's stupid backwards-thinking conservative airspace, they get wild. It's not just DC that does things like this elsewhere.

One of the points in choreography is symmetry. In general having odd number of members make it easier for symmetry, also the fact that these are solo songs, the dreamcatcher memver should be a center so having odd number is a must, so they have even number of additional dancers. Also how close they are as dreamcatcher, being in 7 will give a vibe like as dreamcatcher. That's why JiU Handong performed in 7, SuA Siyeon started in 7, but the maknae line aren't 7 bcs of imagery reason I believe. Dami Gahyeon need more dancers, while Yoohyeon just need a few so 2+1 is enough
I have two completely different comments to make for some reason.
Cherry: it's hard not to be emotional when you can relate and really feel how strongly she feels about Cherry. Have you looked at the lyrics again since realizing it was about her dog? Some of them actually get even cuter.
No Dot: haha. Honestly, I think not enough people praise the impeccable styling and performance direction in this one. SuA is so captivating that you don't even notice quite how suggestive some of the moves are on the back up dancers without a flowy skirt to keep some things obscured. Also some of the shots that pan up or away right before a sexier move :P all so when you see it in the first no dot challenge it destroys you and then everything else.
Siyeon: I love how dedicated she is to embodying emotions in her dancing. You can really start to see it in a lot of her performances more and more.
Handong: yeah I always tear up at the end of this one too. Also I'm glad you also liked how symbolic every little movement was. Me too!
Yoohyeon: this one does SUCH a good job of embodying the era the song invokes, it's so impressive and also no one is ever ready for the one part with the microphone.
Dami: my favorite of the solos atm :) pop punk Dami my beloved and it's so sincere
Gahyeon: baby Gahyeon photos 😭 I think she really did a good job with the dichotomy of wanting to show the child she is remembering being so fondly with also just. How absolutely beautiful she is now.
Live stages: at this point I also absolutely love watching the other members react to the dancing. And trying to learn the dance. And as they slowly start trying to incorporate different parts they've remembered from the choreo. I like to imagine they weren't trying to learn it at all except during this part of the concert. And tbf the video does say they're "wildin" lmao
