  • Concerns about retirement in Jamaica, discussing the unlive of a most recent returning resident back to Jamaica, retired nurse, Luris or Loris Murray from Pyramid Heights in Ochi Rios St Ann. Disturbing to say the least.
Deportation “National Emergency” declared in USA, by President Trump. Many are being deported back to Jamaica, (undocumented) after they are taken into custody in America. Will this action add to the on going crime issue here on the this lovely, most beautiful island of Jamaica, yes it is an immediate concern to many of us. Especially those of us who would love to retire here. Carve out our little piece and achieve PEACE !! While living through our retirement years. Just a discussion, it may put us in a quandary. Yes!! Blessings! Thanks for watching! Till next time …”Golden Grace” Love you all my Lovelies😘🇯🇲

Ever since I heard about the killing of the retired nurse and even other returning residents in Jamaica I start feeling so depressed and sad it’s so heartbreaking and depressing to know that Jamaica is your home and after so many years of hard work and sacrifices abroad you are not safe to come back and just relax and enjoy life all because of envy and greed

Sister I am 58 years old and have been in Canada 🇨🇦 since 2000! My heart resides in Jamaica 🇯🇲 yet I know I will never return. I live in a small town where it doesn’t matter if I lock my door it is priceless ❤. I face the challenges of being a minority but it is the price I am willing to pay for feeling safe and secure.
The Jamaica 🇯🇲 I love & remember no longer exists & I accept that.

I migrated at 13 yrs old to live with my mom. I would visit Jamaica every two years and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more fearful. I truly can’t imagine going back to live full time because of the crime and the poor conditions of the hospitals. It’s very heartbreaking to know that this is now our Jamaica. Reconsider, follow your heart, but let your head be your guide. Blessings!

So glad that you are echoing the voice of concern that so many Jamaicans aboard are having. Wanting to return but fear that they might be walking into the lions den instead of paradise. These are sad and desperate times, but we must do better as a people. People are tired and cold and want to go home!

I am so sad about that this story. I pray God will comfort the family and may HE give them peace and strength as they deal with this horrible tragedy.
I pray God’s continued protection for you too. We are living in a world where danger is lurking everywhere, but God is still in control. Cry out to HIM and HE will answer. Stay safe, God bless you 🙏🏾

Golden Grace is Shining. Congratulation on your channel. I admire that you want to return home to live. You could you just have yo know where you want to live. Everywhere in the world has crime, you just has to be wise. Please dont tell people what you have from what you dont have. And be very careful when you talk to people on the phone. I am do sorry to hear about the lady's death it a pity she was not descreet with her money that she withdrew from the bank. You cannot even trust your own family much less strangers. You have to be wise, to know who you let in your house. And when doing businese with people fo payment plan, and dont tell them your profession. They wiil target you. I have relative who has lived abroad for 55yrs, some for over 40 yrs, and they return and are living good. You have to live simple and be wise. People what you and target you. My friends from Antigua, St.Vincent & the Grenadines, Barbados and Guyana has the same problems too. You have to use eisdom. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth is life. Silence is golden. Keep Up The Hood Work. Blessings.

This is incredibly sad and tragic and I can see how this makes you feel about your own decision about perhaps retiring in Jamaica.
Like you said, it’s such a beautiful country with many kind and loving people, but also the incredibly high crime rate with so many people that lost the respect of others lives. It’s painful to see. I was asking my Jamaican friend about the situation and he said he cannot see it coming to an end… That saddened me even more, that even the kind hearted Jamaicans living in the midst of all this don’t have hope for their own country. It breaks my heart that the situation is so utterly horrific. I pray for change. We cannot let the darkness win. I refuse to believe that this negativity cannot be turned around. Jamaica needs a brutal change to the core and it’s not going to happen overnight since it goes deep but I hope there’s enough love in the world to eventually shift things into a peaceful environment, in Jamaica and in every corner of this beautiful planet.

I was in Jamaica last year and there is a Devon House in St Ann not too far from where that lady got murdered ! I had rented a car , I was with my cousin , we went into Devon House and after we place our order , this guy walk in and he had a mask covering his whole face the only thing you could see were his eyes , I did not feel safe so I told my cousin to let’s go back into the car and eat the ice cream ! As soon as we were about to get back into the car 2 more young men walked in looking suspicious ! There is a small plaza on the other side from Devon House with KFC and it was very busy so we drove over there with the intention of sitting in the car and eat our ice cream , when the 2 last guys followed us over into the parking lot and coincidentally a cop veh. pull up right beside us and they took off , I was so glad to see those cops, never said nothing to them but there present was enough to make us felt safe !! I was enjoying Jamaica , I felt save even in Kingston until that moment ! Hmm 🤔

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. A dilemma indeed! I guess it's so very hard to arrive at the right decision for you, especially as Jamaica is where your heart has remianed. It is a very beautiful country. I have a whole heap of family there. Times have certainly changed along with peoples attitudes and blatant negative behaviour and disrespect towards other human beings. For that lady to decide to live out the rest of her life in JA and have a few ignorant individuals steal that from her is truly despicable and the law should deal with them accordingly. People work hard in the states, the UK, all over, and deciding to return home cannot cause people to target them being fueled by greed and selfish determination. They have no clue how and what we endure over in different countries, a lot of the time living with racism, etc just to be harrassed or worse. Anyway, I hope you manage to reach your decision and whatever you decide to do I hope you have the best of everything in life. God bless you.

Do your research on the Housing Costs for the particular area you are considering in the States. Housing costs are soaring in certain locations. As a Senior your "safety" and "housing affordability" are of prime concern. There are no utopias in this world, but as a Senior one must use wisdom, under these circumstances, for survival and your peace of mind. As Nike says, Just Do It!

I’m planning to return and it’s a real concern as a single person. I think we need to understand where we are. I’m very open and engaging. I was on vacation in Montego Bay and staying at a local place.
The attendant behind the desk in response to my behavior said I had a trust problem. Looking perplexed she said you can’t trust us. You need to be careful. I left her my credit card while I responding to something else.
My uncle told me I need to understand the culture and move
The lesson I see is never to have deliveries alone when you’re not familiar.
This people work for a reputable company?
But we can’t move like we’re in foreign especially if we have bling. Stuff people want.
This is very sad because my family refused to looked at Jamaica because we had family that moved back in the 70s and someone was killed
It was a contract. But I’ve always missed Jamaica and for I’ve decided l will take the risk because I’ve never had peace anywhere else
I understand. You need to make the best choice for you.

Personally I was not feeling unsafe in the suburbs of Baltimore but to listen them tell it I could have an invasion.

2 incidents I personally know of is a friend returning to Jamaica and was followed from the airport and attacked. Secondly is that my stepdad and his new wife retired to Jamaica. Dad lost his hearing and was going blind. Robbers broke into their home and demanded all monies/valuables and threatened to kill their autistic son if they didn't comply. I left Jamaica at the age of 10 and I am now 62. I am so afraid of even visiting even though my bio mom and dad own properties there. Pray for the lost souls.

@@GoldenGraceisSHINNINGthere's a real possibility that whatever perils and woes existing in Jamaica, us Jamaicans may soon have to return home .The USA is in trouble and turmoil and the trajectory don't look good. I've advised my neighbors to arm themselves and have non perishable food items as well as water to sustain themselves. I'm not paranoid nor insane but this is a real possibility. In this time February 2025 , many hopes are dashed. I'd advise returning residents to implore the FLA to grant them firearm license to qualified returning residents. Those Jamaicans involved in these crimes are disconnected from culture and morality . As a matter of fact, I've devised a theory that anyone born on the island after 1975 is not a real Jamaican. Be not discouraged because should the worst happen in the USA , tourism will dry up but at least in Jamaica the ability to feed oneself is 100%more feasible than living in the cities of the US. Do not discount me as a madman and to just give you a gist and breadcrumbs to research , only 4 cents of every US dollar is valid . The greatest depression is about to hit . Right now there are lies circulating about bird flu ...truth is there are no more illegal immigrants around to harvest eggs and pluck chickens...not to mention picking fruits . In a few months things will get ridiculously expensive drowning out the poor but the rich will survive . It's real my lady ..God Bless .

This is so sad 😞 😢😢 this story breaks my heart to hear 💔. It's like some people don't value life. I hope they caught the person who killed her. I worry about the good people in Jamaica. So many criminals are coming back there to live.
I wonder what's going to happen now that they were deported. Where will some of them live or even find jobs.
Please take care and be safe in Jamaica. God bless!🙏😍🙏

That is so sad and when I saw a picture of her on the beach it broke my heart and bought tears to my eyes ! I can just imagine how hard that lady worked to build her dream house and after all those years her dreams finally came through ! They said 3 men so not one could have said to the others no that’s not right ! I constantly watching Jamaican news for update, if anyone got apprehended and so far no one have been apprehended , that is so sad but I heard that a year ago they also murdered a retired man in the same area and that crime have not been solved ! Hmm 🤔

    • @GoldenGraceisSHINNING

Yes, they did! In the same area!! And yes the apprehended them all three, “Long run, short catch!” They did really run long though. They ditched the car or cars and they catch them. So SAD🥲

@ OMG 😳 I am so glad that they got caught ! Even though it cannot bring her back but at least the family can get some justice ! What I have also notice, even though you might have good intention , do not be too kind even with your own families because they interpreted it that you are wealthy , just used your intuition and how you give ! Are so many people heart so cold , that none out the three , could have said No let’s not do it , it’s not right are even see their mother in the woman and leave her alone ! Job well done JCF 👏🏿 ! People , people it doesn’t matter where you all go in this world , always be aware of your surroundings! ! That is so sad ! 😢

I love Jamaica but you have to be realistic. Crime is in the rise, healthcare system is compromise, and the government does not offer good economic outreach for the people of Jamaica. My aunt and uncle retired in 2020. They had Covid19 and could not get the right healthcare resulting in her death.
They also sold their home in the states and built a new home with a safe. Someone came a few weeks later and ripped out the safe. It was an inside job. When you are around people who are feeling it economically, they your compromise your safety everyday. I cannot live in stress everyday because I love Jamaica. The Jamaica that you left many years ago is not the same place now.

I know you want to return for your piece and peace, but what are you to do? That nurse was only coming back home to live her piece & peace and then this happens. Was it because she came back looking wealthy? But that is her right, she worked hard for all those years. She could live the way she wanted and drive what she wanted. I just hope the helper is not apart of it because there was a case a couple years back when an interracial couple from the UK build their home and retired in Jamaica , they were found brutally murdered by the helper’s son ! He was stealing from the couple he open a bar stock the bar with expensive liquor bought a fancy car and a motorcycle and the couple confronted him , wished they had call the police instead ! The mother who was the helper had to have known so as a mother didn’t she question him on where he was getting all that money , I honestly think the mother who was the helper was apart of it ! Yes crime happens every where but it’s just too frequent and law enforcement is not doing nothing that’s why it continues because they know they are going to get away with it , that’s why they continues ! It’s a shame that returnees cannot just get together, whether in Trinidad or Jamaica, form a community that can be protected while employing locals, teaching the young ones their skills etc. many retirees, especially the women would have difficulty finding for themselves if they are alone, but I am sure it is 5hey who would be interested in teaching, Helping, educating after the long grind abroad. My advice to you is not to come back, visit if you wish. I am only one person and this is my opinion. Safety is not the only issue, you have to deal with so many dishonest workers, rude employees at stores and other businesses, worse at the government offices.
