    Gotta emphathize with the human refs, they saw a push off into a blocking player and in the uncertainty said "fuck it im not dealing with this, double foul"

      How about a no call? They could’ve called it a dead ball and taken it out on the side.
      Just giving each player involved a foul isn’t fair at all. Especially, when one of the players is a shot blocker and one of the best players on the team. And the other is barely worth more than all 6 of his fouls.

      @@davidfebreeze428 Not necessarily special treatment.
      A goon’s 6 fouls are cheap bc their team doesn’t need them. If you give them the added bonus of drawing a foul on the other team’s star, we’ll only see more and more of that bs.
      I grew up in the 90s. Trust me, I appreciate physical basketball, but I don’t miss the Anthony Masons of the world. That’s not fun to watch in my opinion.

    I don't hate the double foul. Defensive player wasn't in position but you shouldn't be playing football out there, lowering your shoulder and bashing the defender across the floor.
    Refs FOR SURE do makeup calls when they mess up. I don't know how you'd do stats for it, but you very often see one bad foul call followed shortly by another the other way to "make it even"

    -Made a weird call with next to no explanation
    -Called a nitpicky foul against a confused and frustrated player
    -Called another nitpicky foul but this time in favor of said confused and frustrated player
    An all time nonsense off from these refs lmao I don't think they understand that no one wants these bs nitpicky calls just call it right the first time and then there won't be any makeup calls

    I love how the refs twitter is willing to issue a public apology for an obvious missed call, but they let these controversial double fouls slide. They could have taken this opportunity to actually educate people on some nba rules, but they did not. My suggestion to everyone: perceive nba as an entertainment product, not a serious competitive sports league. Once you bear it in mind, it will make game watching experience much more comfortable, on one hand you don't care much about win or lose anymore, on the other hand these seemingly bizarre foul calls start to make a lot of sense.

      Thanks for sayin this. There are FAAAAAR too many ticky tac and missdd foul calls to really call the nba a serious sports league.
      Its juat too inconsistent and childish at times lol. (Kinda reminds me of how Iverson got a tech for 'bringing the crowd down' ?...)

    First time hearing of a double foul so it peaked my interest:
    Based on some 11 year old reddit quote of the rulebook, We can actually kinda tell what happened based on the result of the double foul. Refs called that it was a jump ball center court but that's not always the case for double fouls. For example, NBA section 6 e. - If a double foul occurs on a successful field goal or free throw attempt, the team that has been scored upon will inbound the ball at the baseline as after any other score.
    Townes made the basket so the only other double foul condition is 6 f. - If a double foul occurs as a result of a difference in opinion by the officials, no points can be scored and play shall resume with a jump ball at the center circle between any two opponents
    So I guess the two refs called the opposite player as fouling the other. Neither were apparently willing to back down nor had significant seniority over the other... though it could've been they mutually convinced each other and decided that that Brissett wasn't set but that Townes used a little too much oomf? But then wouldn't that cause the first condition to occur? Or am I asking too much by having the refs know wtf to do on a double foul?

    I hate makeup calls. I get why refs do it, because they want to make it seem like they're calling the game evenly. But, it ruins the flow of the game and the wrong player can get in foul trouble because of it. It's impossible to get every call right, but I wish refs had the same kind of next play mentality that players are supposed to have.

  • @jakobe328
    @jakobe328 Місяць тому +1

    KAT lowers the shoulder on every fucking drive he makes. Usually it’s called the other way because of kat’s star power and the defender being out of position, just because he’s out of position it doesn’t give you the right to shoulder the defender.

    • @ball1slife107
      @ball1slife107 Місяць тому

      lowering the shoulder a bit is normal for every drive in every era though, if the defender isn't in legal guarding position that means you get to put your shoulder into the defender without it being called an offensive foul that's kinda the point with blocking fouls

    So what's the actual call here?
    Charge or block?
    My take is a block but I'm not sure how to explain the point other than the defender was moving and not stationary to take the charge.
    But that may not be right either..........

    • @HummingbirdCyborg

  • @maharajahdann

    I guess they decided to call two fouls at the same time: the (clear) blocking foul and the offensive one because Towns dropped his shoulder into the defender. It's a bad call, this should simply be an and-one. As for the other two, there's a reason why most star players in the NBA complain so much. They wouldn't bother doing it if it didn't pay off . .

    The ref that called the charge was behind the defender so all he saw was the flop. He got fooled by the dramatic fall of a smaller guy getting in a bigger guy's way. They called it a double foul cause he wasn't willing to eat his words and admit he fucked up. It was a blocking foul and only a blocking foul, and this is coming from someone who doesn't even like Embiid ever since he whined like a bitch about wanting the MVP until ESPN bailed him out by calling the voting racism and guilting everyone into not voting for the clearly more valuable Jokic last year. Embiid is still a choke artist, but in the case of this foul he was in the right.

    • @maartenvz
      @maartenvz Місяць тому

      Completely agree! I also agree with the other 2 fouls on KAT and Tatum, they clearly dont have their arms up and initiate contact with their forearm.
