    No. It is. Actually might be worse than we remember.

    Yes, it was - Jon Snow was supposed to be the powerful decisive leader and he turned into a puppy dog who just went wherever he was sent. In the end he walked into the ice and was never heard of again.

      I never saw Jon Snow as a decisive leader strangely enough. He was always conflicted and a little too emotional to make the cold, hard decisions. But he was definitely a great fighter for sure.

    The wheels began to come off this show after Jon Snow died. Characters teleported across continents, plotlines were accelerated, fan favorites promoted to god level and side characters massacred to clear the stage for an unearned showdown.

    I think we can all agree that Season 8 was rushed but in my opinion many of the plots and sub plots were never addressed from Seasons 1-4 and the bad writing actually starts in Season 5 to Season 6. The warlock who tries to imprison Dany and her dragons is never sen again in Season 2 but comes back in the form of a little girl to kill her disappears again. I would've liked to have seen the warlock pop up again in Maureen or Dragon Stone to try to kill her. He was such a cool character or have the warlock bump into Arya in Season 6. Then there is also the Children of the Forest that you don't hear anything more about after Season 4. They just simply disappear and I don't know if they just die out after the few of them give their lives but to me, it's just weird that there wouldn't be at least two or three that could pop up around Season 6.
    the problems with Season 5 is subliminal and you don't notice it right away until you watch it over again and look for it. Sir Barristan died way to early, I thought. I think the biggest disappointment is with the character of Jon Snow. He finds out who he is and that he is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and the rightful king of the seven kingdoms as Aegan Targaryen. It sets it up quite clearly in Season 7. It also sets up the confrontation between Jon Snow and the Night King in Season 4 and to have a final battle between the two in Season 8. In my opinion Jon Snow should've been the only one who could convincingly unite the seven kingdoms because he tries to tell Dany that as a ruler you have to be merciful to people who make mistakes or commit crimes or steal and Daenarys's view point was "they don't get to have that choice." Which signifies a lot of bad things. Having Jon Snow say he doesn't want to be king or doesn't want it. He didn't want to commander of the Nights Watch but he did it anyways because if he didn't do it they would've been dead ???. It literally doesn't make any sense to have him bow out and give the whole Kings Landing to Dany who doesn't understand the people or what the people have been going through.
    I thought the whole point of Jon Snow going to Dragon Stone was to get the Dragon Glass to fight the White walkers but that's all tossed out and I thought we were going to see the dragons get armored up in Dragon Glass. You don't see the army wearing Dragon Glass armor or using it as spikes or mounting it on the castle walls. You see Jon Snow ask Dany for permision to mine Dragon Glass but you don't see any Dragon Glass in Season 8 other than on Arya's spear and that's it. As far as Arya who's character arch is wasted. she Shouldn't have been able to pass any of the tests to be a faceless man and for her leaving to go back to the Starks she should've had Jaqen H' gar hunt her down to kill her so that she wouldn't be able to exploit his secrets. The whole plot is wasted. She comes back as if nothing happend, kills Fray and goes up to Winterfell to be with Sansa. Little Finger's whole character arch is wasted and I refuse to believe he is that stupid to believe that he could continue to take advantage of Sansa for as long as he did to remain in Winterfell to get killed by Arya. Little Finger is supposed to be really smart and manipulative like Varies and Terian but he gets himself killed???
    D&D had their falling out with the author after Season 4 and JRR Martin said in many interviews that he wanted to go up to 10 or 12 seasons. HBO also wanted more seasons. I also learned that there was much more to Katlyn Stark who becomes the Lady Stone Heart in the Books and hunts down all of the High Lords involved in the Red Wedding. She's also the one who brings back Jon Snow. D&D didn't want to do that because they already had a lot of people that had come back from the dead that it didn't make sense. There were also a lot more nobles and side characters similar to Fray who were complete assholes that never made it into the show. D&D wanted 100% ownership of the whole show and didn't want to share any credits with any writers. D&D also didn't want to do more Seasons and that's why we got all of these problems with Season 8 as we did because they wanted to go and do Star Wars. Season 8 should've been fleshed out and expanded into three seasons but in reality the problems stem from Season 5.
    I wanted to see more stuff with Bran. I wanted to see the Battle of the Trident and more stuff with the Mad King burning Ned's brother and father. I also wanted to see Prince Rhaegar courting Lyanna Stark and falling in love with him as well as battling Robert Baratheon and losing. There's so much of the history that I wanted to see personally that was never considered. We got to see the wedding between them and the great Sir Arthur Dayne fight with Ned Stark and company but that's pretty much it. You see all these powers that Bran Stark can do from Season 1 to Season 6 and 7 and he doesn't do anything in Season 8 like turn the dead dragon against the dead or ask the animals in the North to join them in the fight against the army of the dead. His character is completely wasted and yet he becomes king??? That just baffles me. Of course I learned that in the books but I'm sure it's better explained why? I didn't like it because it felt un-earned. He didn't earn the title of king because he didn't do anything. Jon Snow did all of the work. Sansa becoming Queen didn't make any sense either. She openly tells Danearys what she thinks of her and that the North won't bow down to the South anymore. She tells Terrian Jon's Heritage which to me, tells me that Sansa is a rat and an idiot. She came off as a real irritating, red neck, step child in almost all of Season 8, it like; ok whatever. I guess D&D wanted to put someone like Margeret Thatcher in charge where she humiliate the men and treats people like idiots and dis-respect.
    As far Game of Thrones being the Best television series there ever was. I would say it's the most expensive and wasted production of television by D&D of course. I would say there are other tv shows that have better writing and interesting plot lines that would be better for television than Game of Thrones.

      You've raised a lot of valid points here. There were definitely too many plot threads left unresolved or completely forgotten by the end. And while the cracks did start to show during Season 5 and 6 like you said, the wheels didn't fully come off the wagon until Season 7, where it was clear that all they cared about was alternating between cheap fan service and subverting expectations. But I truly believe that the ending as is would've worked much better than it did if only they'd paid more attention to details and they didn't rush the last two seasons.

      @@michaelabayomi Season 7 you can clearly see that there were a lot of mistakes. Seasons 5 and 6 were ok as far as entertainment and emotional investment. A few examples of bad plot details for Season 7 was for Jon Snow and his company going up to the North to get a walking Dead and bring it back to Kings Landing to prove to Cersi that they need to focus on the Night King and the army of the Dead. It is probably the stupidest decision that D&D could come up with, when all Jon had to do was look for his Uncle Benji who was half dead and half alive to vouch that there was a huge problem. Another Example of bad writing is Dany going up to the North from Dragon Stone to save Jon Snow. When You look at the Map of Westeros there is no way that she would've been able to get there in time. Then the plot armor of the Night King throwing his spear at Viserion which was hundreds of feet farther flying when Drogon was less than 50 feet away. Jon Snow's incompetence to get on Drogon to fly away and instead chooses to fight, which is stupid on his part because there were still hundreds if not thousands of the dead marching to Drogon to attack. Then he falls in the ice and Dany chooses to leave but because of plot armor he doesn't get hit by the Night King's spear. By all definition they all should be dead and all the dragons should be dead. I admit when you watch it and forget about the logic it is a good scene but once you start putting things together the whole action piece doesn't make sense and neither does Jon Snows logic to go up in the North. If you really think about it Cersi would have to be a complete idiot to not believe that the White Walkers don't exist because the Children of the Forest created them long ago when the first settlers came to Westeros and burned down their trees.

    As someone who just watched game of thrones for the first time last month and somehow without any spoilers, yes it was that terrible.
    heres everything wrong with the fight against the whitewalkers
    - they fought them like it was a normal army then acted surprised when they came back to life
    - why wouldnt u plan ur whole strategy around Danys dragons or singling out the night king?
    - whats the point of sending ur dothraki and ghost out to die by riding into the darkness for no reason when ur literally defending winterhold?
    - why would Tyrion be ok with doing nothing in the basement?
    - why would they keep women and children in a crypt where dead ppl are?
    - why would u structure the climax of the show (whitewalkers) before another climax (cercei)
    - Arya killing the NK instead of Jon was a bs deus ex machina since she came out of nowhere
    -It wouldve been much better if Arya used her face changing skills to kill Cersei with Sansa and Jon kill the NK
    - Why didnt Bran use his powers when they needed it? Warg into the zombie dragon
    Bonuses:
    Why did the night king aim bot onto the smaller dragon flying left to right when Dany was literally saving Jon and the others with Drogon, a much bigger stationary target occupied with picking people up?
    - the Unsullied got ambushed by the iron fleet, how did Dany, Jon, grey worm, and Tyrion forget and then ride out into the sea again where the other dragon gets aimbotted?
    - Then Drogon and dany come to burn kings landing and no one can hit a shot anymore???
    - Jon has targaryen blood and isnt a bastard but that literally had no relevance or consequences to the shiw
    - Dany becoming a mad queen was foreshadowed but Dany rising beyond the sins of her father was also foreshadowed. If they wanted to rush the ending, having dany stay sane wouldve been better.
    - i hated that Jon went through so much hard ship just to end back at the same place even if thats what he “wanted.”
    - Tyrion would never betray lord varys

      I definitely agree with most of the inconsistencies you've highlighted here. But I still think Dany going scorched-earth on King's Landing was one of the few genuinely satisfying moments in the final season. 😇

    • @baconcheeseburger4504
      @baconcheeseburger4504 4 місяці тому

      @@michaelabayomi Doesn't make the season good. It being satisfying had no effect on the fact that it was caused by accelerating a plotline that required slow, thought-out character development. Daenerys descent into supposed madness was squeezed into a matter of episodes which gave the whole venture less foundation.

    • @michaelabayomi
      @michaelabayomi  4 місяці тому

      @@baconcheeseburger4504 You're right. But I'd posit that her descent into madness started as far back as Season 1 actually, from the moment she watched her brother die at the hands of Kal Drogo without batting an eyelid. And there were several overt and subtle hints sprinkled throughout the seasons following that.
